Blizzard Rolls Out WoW Mobile Armory
Clean those third-party World of Warcraft applications off of your iPhone or iPod Touch, because Blizzard’s free official Mobile Armory application is go.
The World of Warcraft Mobile Armory takes all the functionality of the full armory website and places it at your fingertips. The iPhone app allows players to immediately access character, guild, and arena team information, read World of Warcraft news, check leaderboards, browse items drops by zone and dungeon, and even check their guild calendar to see if they can make it to the next Ulduar raid. There’s even a nifty talent calculator so you can ponder re-speccing while sitting on the can. Now that’s convenience!
What makes this different from the third-party World of Warcraft applications is that it actually ties to your account, requiring you enter your login and password to gain access to your information. It’s really all the WoW iPhone application you’ll ever need.

@bobojuice:
I don't understand. Your problem with WoW was that you went against the ToS and you are now angry because you had to deal with the repercussions?
Talk about the murderer who is angered over his jailtime.

@VulnoX: It was spinning at loading and not progressing for me earlier (no authenticator). But just worked fine now, and wow.com's article about it mentioned it didn't ask for an authenticator code. So I think the armory app just uses your wow or battle.net password and ignores the authenticator part since you can't change anything sensitive anyway.
Might just be getting hammered on logins or something. Wouldn't be the first time something wow-related did.
Ikari
Now we just need the Android version!
@bobojuice:
Dont be a jerk and willingly abuse the TOS then mmkay?
Jesus, thats like complaining when the cops seize your car for having no tax. "They held my car hostage with same lame ass excuse about me not paying tax, just to extort a fine from me.
ManiacFive
Goddamn it guys, what about the PALM PRE?!
@NurseDave: pretty sure dave was just being a jerk for no reason.
This is no joke the best app I've ever used for the iphone.
(I need my battle.net authenticator app too! if only they could combine the two...)
Wow was fun, but I just couldn't justify the time for it, anymore.
This is a neat iphone ap though. nice to be able to check guild schedules when your out and about.
it would be nice if you could in-game mail folks as well, but eh, thats a small thing.

@VulnoX:
Just had a friend try it who doesn't use the passcode and it works for him. So if you are using the security code service, this won't work yet.
VulnoX
@bobojuice: Yes, they should have let you continue to break the rules, and choose retarded names, forcing people to continue to report you, and making more work for their staff.
Choose a non-violating name in the first place, no more issue.
I have the WoW passcode thing on my Blizzard account, and when I try to use this it just says "Loading..." when I log in. Does this not work with the passcode service?
VulnoX
Is there any reason why you can level up your character and all that stuff without having to be online and paying the monthly fee. Can you play offline?
hardly_working
Ok now blizzard, where is the app that will allow people to play wow on their iPhones and iPod Touch's?
nightwheel
All right! Maybe this one will update more than once every month or two!
Johnny_Under
A nice little app. Thanks for making it free, Blizzard.
hypermog
@SeraphX2: You are wise and well spoken.
NurseDave
@bobojuice: I'm glad Kotaku can be your epic WoW whine session. You and every other person always complains about WoW and says how glad they are they quit everytime a WoW article pops up. Good for you. I don't give a crap that you hated the game and quit.
@fate47 - Meh.: I'm ok with NurseDave having a star...he has a point.
@UnderLoK: So to get stars we need to play kotaku in windowed mode?
trunkenmath
As if I needed a bigger reason to show everyone at work that I am a WoW nerd! You would think that conversations around the break room table with my guild officers would be enough but no, you now have to give me an app that just screams NERD! The minute I check the thing.
Befitzero
@Showmeyomoves!:
wow your jealousy shows clearer than a canon 15 megapixel multi shot 5x zoom camera.
@UnderLoK: I was unaware that people didn't bring their cell phones outside and to social gatherings.
AncientUnknown1
@fate47 - Meh.:
Grandfathered into the star program would by my guess ;)
@bobojuice: I just don't play when it's nice out... I quit every year for 4-5 months.
@OrazioHayabusa: Initially that was the point of the app so I would assume it's still in progress.
@AncientUnknown1: Except when WoW has to compete with nice weather, BBQ's (smoked that is), beer, n bikini's....
summer > wow
@TaggarT6: Play in windowed mode...
I kept an eye out for this the entire time I played. If this had dropped before I canceled my account, I'd be jazzed.
Instead, I'll meditate on the money I'm saving... at least until Project Offset gets a name and a release date.
http://www.projectoffset.com/
@Showmeyomoves!: I see, so cause this person has a star you both felt the need to shoot them down?
By the way, how clever of you both to shoot down someone making a wow and waggle joke. THAT'S never been done before. ^^
Thank you, but I already have all the WoW iphone apps I will ever need, and I don't have an iPhone.
@fate47 - Meh.: It's not how you lick, it's who you lick.
NurseDave
I keep finding more reasons to actually buy an iPhone lately, and this doesn't help the "not buying" category much, especially considering I've heard from some guildmates and whatnot that it's really quite awesome.
Joshlol
@NurseDave: That's what I thought. Although he is right, it will be helpful to those who don't.
I just wanna know what happened to the app that would allow you to play wow on the iphone???
Illist
@TaggarT6: That was what i was thinking, now i can play and look at my character at the same time!
Intelext
Level 80, and only 29 out of 931 achievements?
@NurseDave: How the hell did you two get stars? o_O
@TaggarT6: This whole post was you bragging you have two screens then?
Whooo, you da man! Look at you! Way to buy two screens!
Better?
NurseDave
if this does everything the armory can do, it means you can cancel your acceptance on a raid invite if you're running late. Handy.
Still not getting an iphone.
Ajh
pretty awesome app actually. replaced 3 apps i had before for tracking various wow stats.
ninjajazza
@bobojuice: Uhm so you got mad cause you got punished for breaking the rules knowingly? lolwut?
Ajh
@Michael Forsberg: Maybe we'll get to see him make a joke about the Wii and waggle controls next. Earn that star!
Showmeyomoves!
I played and quit WoW about 3-4 times in the last hmm four years? Anyway im glad to be done with that INFERNAL game. The last straw was when I named my character Bownertime and they went and changed the characters name without giving me the option to switch it. I would have had to PAY to change the name. Yes i know it was against TOS, but they held my character hostage with some lame ass name trying to extort extra money out of me to change it. Screw that.
NEVER FORGET...
Sweet! Now I don't have to minimize the game when I want to google an item. I can just whip out my smart phone and do it that way.
Well, kinda of a moot point since I have a second screen to search on, but helpful for those that don't.
@Michael Forsberg:
Ah thank God I finally got free of WoW, I really don't need to join the iPhone bandwagon...
That warrior is Ulduar geared, yet only has 320 achivement points? Shame on you!
Blizzard has been slowly forcing the developers of independent iPhone/iPod Touch apps for a few months. WoWTalent, Wowcharacters, WoW Chest. All pulled because of a Cease and Desist. I guess this is why. All of the ones that were pulled are put in this add-on and they work like you would expect them to in this app.
The others were hit and miss. Either outdated or just didn't work right half the time. The one Blizzard released is solid. The armory is quick and precise. The talent is simple and works very cleanly. The loot list is very nice, but could use a little organization based on who drops it.
It's all nice but I can't help but wonder why they couldn't have added all this to the authenticator, or vice versa. Anyone who would use this app probably has an authenticator on their account and this would save some space. Consolidate it all into one app.
Still, for a free app it's a really nice WoW app.
Justin Brogan
just today i was wishing for something like this for guild wars. sounds completely awesome, and it could become a wonderfull sidekick while you play aswell!
Convenient in that you wont need to alt-tab to check out someone's gear. Just have the iPhone handy (and really when isnt it handy?)
Meh doesn't matter anyway, the game is gonna be so damn easy after 3.2 gear and stats no longer matter.
kamonX
@Boom-Chicka-Ah:
Yay, jokes about wow and gaming addiction. Haven't heard those before. You are truly a pioneer in humor, aren't you?
Michael Forsberg
it's actually really well made. Loving it on my iPhone.
could this bring severe addiction to the iphone as well?
You knew you couldn't escape WoW. And now, it will literally follow you around everywhere. WoW is now omnipresent; you can neither run nor hide.
AncientUnknown1
@benfinkel:
Man, a live AH browsing mobile app would ruin lives more than the WoW juggernaut already has.
@benfinkel: Once they make it so you can AH from your phone the world as we know it might just end.
wow (pun intended) sold baby sold
I don't know if I should be happy about this or sad.
Ohhhh my god... Blizzard is taking it to the next level...
Not ALL I'll ever need.
Provide me with a live AH-browsing tool, and maybe an app that hooks into the guild chat channel and then you'd be talking.
benfinkel
@Boom-Chicka-Ah: iPhone addiction is spreading just fine without a WoW app; I can only imagine how much worse it'll get now.
