British Sales Charts
Still with the face-punching! Last time we checked, Fight Night Round 4 was dominating the British charts. This time around, little has changed.
Sure, Wii Fit has squeezed back into second place, but Fight Night is still at #1 and #3. As for newcomers, Tiger Woods 10 had an impressive debut at 9, 10 & 16 (PS3, 360, Wii), while Call of Juarez also did surprisingly well, with the PS3 version at #11 and the 360 version at #15.
Speaking of newcomers, notice anything about those two titles? The PS3 version outsold the 360 versions. Doesn’t happen too often around these charts…

@skik08: You do realise that you've made a retort that makes absolutely no sense at all?
Oh well, I suppose sarcasm is hard to detect over the internet.
Meh, I've bought one game this year, I just don't really have any money, looking for a job right now.
I hope to pick up Battlefield 1943 soon though.
@pneboy: Wow you seem so stupid that your probably not even able to appreciate Ghostbusters, get back to being a stupid fanboy.
@iRayman: i disagree. i think it was a shit move. best thing sony have done was when they fought to keep MGS4 exclusive. best game this gen thus far imo.
What I find funny, is that in another thread someone called FN4 "an absolute flop" but then I see this.
Heathro
@Stevil_T: wasn't the ps3 version like... a shit?
@Woz: I think it's a lot of fun. Singleplayer is fairly short (around 7 or 8 hours on medium), but with the promise of extra missions as DLC it could be extended indefinitley. The multiplayer component is an absolute blast as well. Some fresh air with new gameptypes like Wild West Legends are a hell of a lot of fun.
@pneboy:
Yeah, the timed exclusivity of Ghostbusters was easily the most crushing blow that Sony have been able to deliver to the 360 thusfar.
I'm still weeping at the lack of Bill Murray on my console, oh well, back to Halo/Gears/Mass Effect/etc =P

@DukeColossus: Star Wars? No I was thinking Waterworld.

@Thomas Henry Ward: To be perfectly honest Square seem like a rather good parent company. For example with Supreme Commander 2 when asked what they wanted changing GPG were told to just do as they did with SupCom. I think Square just want a presence in the western market to learn form not to impose their will on. Unlike some companies mentioned further up.
@deanbmmv: Huh, I still think it was a bad idea for Eidos to sell out to Square Bigots.
Eidos are a British publisher so the games will come out in Britain early. NOT 10 YEARS LATER.
Thomas Henry Ward
So nice to see so many 360 and PS3 games on the chart.
dgonchild
@natureboy46: I would of thought Motionplus might of been one of the hold back's. It was mentioned near E3( I think by Patcher) that it could be hard to market the Motionplus cos as far as most folks are aware the Wii already does the stuff it's saying.
Cos we're really hte only folks who talk about 1:1 n all that.
@pneboy: May the hammer of a thousand bans fall upon you with great strength and mighty justice.
@deanbmmv: I love the picture of Lightning.
That is all. =D
@DukeColossus: So did I!
I wonder if they're as easy to bring down with harpoons and tow cables...
@edhe (xbl): Bigger health bars do not equate a higher level of skill required, just more shooting.
I think both styles of gameplay have their online merits, but to be perfectly frank, it's like comparing the gameplay of a Final Fantasy game with Gears of War - they're different beasts, and in order to be good/skillful at either, different things are required.
@DukeColossus: I SO did :D
Likton
Great picture! I never comment but had to on the article picture. I was actually just there a month ago out on the Kentish flats, you can see the Vatenfall wind turbines in the background (reason I was there).
TimotheaBizzle
nice to see the ps3 version of ghostbusters is still in the chart, i wonder where the xbox 360 version is, oh yeah thats right it got timed exclusived to the ps3
hahaha take that xbox fanboys
pneboy
@mzo: Speaks of the demographic that bought ps3s.
@Ursus-Veritas: Halo requires more 'skill' than cod as default as each player automatically has a shield to remove, which takes a lot more to kill than what's required in cod to kill.
Still, UT's better.
@Kaged-Animal: No. you're quite wrong.
Just because it may be your favourite game doesn't make it suddenly skillful. The game's 2d [point & click], the weapons are all pea shooters and the perks system basically gives the more experienced players more benefits for killing the newbs.
It's the worst FPS mp i've seen in years.. 'matchmaking' my arse, there was no matching being made, just games.
Anyway, the SP was helluva fun but i feel guilty that my other half bought the game for full price.
AND WTF is with IW for not honouring my map pack voucher eh ? That's something that needs a bit of fuss kicked up about.
Anyone else get that? msg me.
Yes! Fall down the chart Prototype! Hahaaaa, hopefully it wont be there at all next time around.

@Stevil_T:
I never thought Ghostbusters would do well over here. I don't know why, but nobody seems to be into it anymore (in my experience). But it might take off when it comes out on the 360, I still have my doubts. And I doubt the general British gamer will import... I mean look at that list.
Cov
@fraudbrand:
Damn straight!

@DukeColossus: Hahahaha. Yeah. I was scanning the 'front page' for new articles, and caught a glimpse of the picture out of the corner of my eye. I thought it was related to LucasArts announcement scheduled for today.
KesMonkey
@Kaged-Animal: There is nothing skillful about equipping a P90 and holding down the right trigger. At all.
I'm a complete failure at the CoD4/WAW multiplayer, because I play Halo a lot more and I'm a lot better at that. Yet whenever I choose to play WAW, where I'm only a rank 36, I'm constantly beating teams made up of people who have prestiged several times over. Don't say any of this complete rubbish that one is 'waaaay deeper and more skillful' than the other. They're not, and that goes for either Halo or CoD.
@deanbmmv: Squeidox
Jogfrog
@Lozmaster:
It's only a couple of days sales, it went on sale on Friday and lets face it the difference between the last few places in the chart isn't going to be much looking at figures elsewhere. Next weeks sales should give a clearer indication.
@natureboy46:
I'm enjoying the Wii version. This week isn't going to be the best to get a good indication though as it only went on sale on Friday. Next week might be interesting.
COD4 outselling COD5 is the best thign about this list.
@One Man Freak Show:
You ARE joking about the Halo vs. COD4 online yes?! COD4 is waaaay deeper and more skillful. You only found Halo more fun as you probably got owned for a few hours and gave up, going back to the easier Halo.
@deanbmmv:
Dear everbody,
We are coming
Square-Eidox
@natureboy46: That surprised me too. ThursdayNext makes a good point, but I'd have thought the fairly significant advantage of Motion Plus would have helped in this instance
FunkyMunxy
@ThursdayNext:
Dear Actiblizzard and Nintendo
100million copies baby!!
EA
@ThursdayNext: it didn't work
@ThursdayNext: Crap...one more try..

@ThursdayNext: Oh, but while we're at it...

@MailToad:
I was wondering that too, why isn't hte wiimotion plus pushing it over the other 2. Ah well, if it sells better on the other 2 formats, consider wiimotion plus to be well and truely screwed, ;-;. No doubt devs are going to look at this this and forget about it.
Lozmaster
@deanbmmv: lol, fair enough. ;)
ThursdayNext
@MailToad: Yeah, it is strange that the inferior version of the game is selling better.

The future home of the Pirate Bay!
j/k, the last thing that wacko needs is to be legitimized by someone actually running a company from his derrick.
@godot: Sea forts?! Wha- wha- whaat!? Why aren't those in CoD/MoH/Commandos? I only learn WWII history through game, dammit!
Weird how Tiger Woods is selling so much better on 360/PS3....
That image reminds me of ATATs storming Hoth.
Greg Rassam
@ThursdayNext:
Dear EA,
That is all
Actiblizzard
@Ted: I'd prefer that to keep selling rather than, say, EA sports active. These games aren't making Britain fitter.
@One Man Freak Show: You best be trollin' about Halo 3 multiplayer being fun and balanced.
@ThursdayNext:
Dear EA,
Love, Nintendo
This makes me want to renounce my British citizenship...
@DukeColossus: That's the very first thing I thought; steampunk AT-ATs.
@natureboy46: I think a lot of Wii titles are slow burners. They don't seem to have the rabid, slavering day-one numbers, but they've got tails like you wouldn't believe.
ThursdayNext
@bjarnia: Don't forget, like NPD this doesn't count Steam, and I'd bet that they get a fair chunk of PC sales through them.
@nworobes: They are the remains of the Maunsell seaforts set up as gun platforms at the mouth of the Thames during WWII. So, not a huge leap from ATAT's after all.
godot
@njd09: Uh, no. The multiplayer is fun, yes, but its complete lack of balance ruins it for me; the game quite literally requires no skill whatsoever. I'd much rather play something like Halo 3's multiplayer, because that's both great fun and balanced.
It also doesn't have the epic feeling you get from the campaign; the campaign is full of absolutely breathtaking scripted set pieces, while the multiplayer isn't scripted and just isn't as exciting.
@DukeColossus: Yep. I thought it was a Star Wars post before i read the title.
@DukeColossus: We have to do something to protect ourselves from Japan's first Gundam Warrior.

Is Call of Juarez any good?
Woz
@[www.undergroundkent.co.uk]
(Although yes, they do look like AT-ATs at first glance)!
Stompy1
Have to say I'm a little shocked to see Tiger Woods on the Wii as the weakest performer of the three consoles. I figured motion plus would push over the top.
I know that I'm glad I went with the Wii version.
@2SBs: Aren't they out near Liverpool? I love that picture i've seen it before. I think there are some like that near Liverpool anyway...
@nworobes: Drilling platforms in the north sea. It's a different picture of Britain each week, no game connection intended.
2SBs
Hahahaha! 70% of the top 10!
Dear other publishers,
Pwnd!
Lots of love,

Lol, I almost thought those things were AT-TT's in the picture.
Sonicslasher
@One Man Freak Show: Seriously? The single player did it for you?!
You are indeed a one man freak show. The game's multiplayer is the best I've ever played (excluding Killzone 2). Honestly, if you only wanted to play single player, you should have just given it a rent. Single player isn't much compared to other shooters, it's pretty standard. Multiplayer redefined the experience on consoles.

Recreating the Hatton-Pacquiao fight up to now?
@DukeColossus: *Raises hand.*
What are they? I don't see any obvious connection to any game on that sales chart.
nworobes
@Emiat: Don't bother with the GOTY Edition. I got it at Best Buy a few weeks back on sale for $30, and it has absolutely nothing extra in it. I thought it would have the map pack, but no; they apparently stopped including that last August, which is the dumbest thing I have ever heard, really.
Still an absolutely phenomenal game, though. Singleplayer, anyways.
@Ted: i know it's a joke. same goes for cod 5. i recently had the urge to give cod 5 a go and couldn't find it any cheaper than £30 new, blockbuster even had the cheek to try and charge £35 for used and £40 for new. in the end i resorted to ebay for £20 still too much for a used game that's over six months old.
Trumpet
wow. a multiplatform debut where the PS3 version is higher than the 360 version.
mzo
@Ted: I know what you mean, I have been looking around for it myself recently. Cheapest I found was HMV for £25 quid, but that wasnt the Game of the Year edition.
Emiat
Anyone else think ATAT's from Star wars with a glance at the image?
Nice. One PC game in the top 40.
I wish CoD4 would stop selling so much! It's been out for yonks and it's still around £30.
Poor old Ghostbusters. I guess all the diehard fans bought it on release and the casual rest went for the rental option. Oh well, there's always the 360's October release to boost the sales...That's if we don't all buy it on import (like me!)
Stevil_T
Wii Fit bitches!
mitch_93
I always thought sports games sold better on PS3 than 360.
Or was it just FIFA? I'm not sure. Anyway, nothing impressive here.
I'm surprised how well MK DS still sells, though.
CombatDispenser
I'm just glad to see Club Penguin: Elite Penguin Force still at 35!
