Caution: Japanese Designer Pokemon Shirts Ahead
Continuing their recent run of collaborations with the clothing label, Nintendo have teamed up with A Bathing Ape to bring us a line of Pokemon/Bape t-shirts that will no doubt set your wallet’s heart aflutter.
There’s six shirts in the line, some heavy on the Pokemon, others heavier on a freaky, Pokemonised version of the trademark Ape. No word on a release or pricing, but since the last Nintendo/Bape shirts ran to $US175, don’t expect to see them for $US15 at Hot Topic.

It is the staple BAPE, planet of the apes, monkey face on a Pikachu body.

I won't get into the history but know that it is considered a premium brand. Extremely expensive, just like the post mentioned the last Nintendo collaborated t-shirt cost $175.
Resellers were selling BAPE/Nintendo DS lite for $450 dollars and easily into the $600 category in Ebay. It sold out literally within minutes.This for a $130 system with BAPE skin.
Yes, the era of the APE is slowly declining with only the hardcore heads snatching up the merchandise in full. Their cheapest tshirt, threads, are about $60-80 dollars and climbs exponentially in price.
You may cry blasphemy, but it sells and there is a reason it flies off inventory that your puny $8.00/hr wage can't possibly comprehend.
That has gotta scare some children.

That pikachu/ape hybrid simply deserves to die. I would quite happily bath that electric ape, assuming of course that water would have the same effect as it does on infamous' electrical hero, then proceed to whack the withering beast with a wooden shovel.

Yuck....while I might have paid the full $175 for the limited edition "Mario X Milo" shirt (and even more so for the parka)....these are a disaster.
I really wish that Nintendo would have teamed up with BBC...as they are quickly becoming the superior label of "Japanese high street' hip hop fashion.
That being said...if anyone is interested in these....Ape T-shirts are usually split into three different price ranges. The limited edition 'collaboration' shirts usually go for $175.
But I am assuming that this new line of shirts will be split between the middle of the road design (IE #7) shirts that go for about $80, and the generic design (IE shirt #4) shirts that go for about $60 - $70.
But what am I saying? The era of Ape is over, and the only people who are going to be buying these are the hardcore ape fans who wear NOTHING but ape....underwear, socks, shirts, shoes...you name it....they even use Bathing Ape condoms....

Despite being the tools that they are, I really doubt that even the most dedicated of bape clientele could be led to think that this is actually dope. streetwear is dead.
