All I can say is, "It's about time."

@Iskandr: If your not using it, can I have your Beta account?
worsethannormal
Oh, and this one takes a monster of a PC to just be playable.
@Tenshigure:
No, everybody knows the only time nerds tan is when they go on vacation; otherwise we avoid the sun like wimpy vampires silly.
@SHOWTIME!: I don't know about you but I'm hoping I can make a character who has the power to spawn cottage cheese out of anywhere.
@fdisk: Yes, because everyone knows you can only get a tan in Cancun. :P
Finally! I'm a huge fan of City of Heroes - I really like the story, design, the overall 60s comic book feel that game has to it - and this looks to be an improvement on all of it. As soon as the beta opens I'll be occupied for a long while.
@NeVeRMoRe666: Is that like multiplying by 0?
Rhonlore
@Crescendo: This reminds me of a comic I read about City of Heroes. Had three guys meet up who were clearly ripping off Wolverine, talking about how awesome their appearance and skill sets were.
Then a guy shows up who is clearly a rip-off of Neo from The Matrix, and all three of the Wolverine clones make sarcastic remarks about how original he is.
@CI254:
But you were informed... You just didn't open your eyes!

@Thut:
Couldn't agree more. Spent over 2 years in CoH, only got one char up to max level. :D Rest of the time I created new heroes/villains and got them to about lvl 15 before making a new one. Not one was like the other! The level of customization is amazing!

@tinky XIII:
I think it would be cool to have some mobs drop costume pieces, like epic ones. But I don't want stats on them. That ruins many games.
grobo - with a hint of salt
@Crescendo:
Well, during beta and after release of CoH, most people went for either Hulk, Wolverine, Spidey or Superman, didn't see many Batman to be honest. But then again, that was before 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight'...

@tinky XIII:
It's been fun, but as you say the combat for the first ten levels is very much 1,2,2,1,1,1,3,4 (when I get my energy levels up)1,2 etc etc :P However, I still LOVE it, as it feels like a very accomplished MMO, and this is still only the preview stage.
The skill customisation, and character creation are very good in my opinion, there is a real depth to it, from general skills that augment your backstory, to specific ones so you can decide what type of 'role' to be.
mikeck is too orangey for crows
Lame, all the newbs will ruin my server lag. GTFO NOOBS.
Hrm. Comic book nerds and MMO fans?
I think it would be best stated as "Attention comic book and MMO nerds!" if you really wanted to poke fun accurately.
RiotControl
Unless the UI and control scheme have made gigantic leaps forward in functionality over the last couple of months you're better off having a controller plugged into your PC. The game was nigh unplayable on the keyboard.
If you liked City of Heroes, you'll probably love Champions. It needs more work, but there's some huge potential.
CapnHulk
@Komrade Kayce - Hero of Soviet Kotaku: Captain Kayce. Will you share the Communist love?
@Crescendo: Are they gonna be wearing hockey pads? >D
Wow, this entire time I've been ignoring this game thinking it was just another generic MMO. Constantly seeing the ad on the side here, seemed like one of those crummy free korean ones. Now I actually looked into it, holy crap why was I not informed earlier?
CI254
@Komrade Kayce - Hero of Soviet Kotaku: Super-Nemesis of Captain America? Win.
What will your Superhero name be? (No secret identity reveals here.)
My superhero name..
What, of course! 'Max Dragon'! :P
@Vitalz: I like the combat. It's real time, which is nice, but it's unbelievably repetitive. The first ten levels basically plays like 1-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-2-1-3-1-1...
Visually the game is gorgeous. The cel-shading could be better, but I'm quite picky about that. The character creation is a mixed bag. Yes you get a ton of options to play around with, but body types are so limited it ended turning me off to the game. You're very limited as to how proportions play out, so my dream of making a rotund demonic French chef fell by the wayside.
I may try the game again to see how it's progressed in the past month and a half, but it's not a game I'll pay to play.
@Unee720: Calls Green Lantern ripoff character*
@Random Peanuts: It has loot as far as pieces of tech and things like that, and possibly a few one-off weapons (can't remember), but for the most part you just up your powers in a somewhat-limited fashion.
Finally I can get around to creating Comrade Fascism, the bipolar communist/fascist vigilante who is all about the extremes and never takes the middle road.
Hyperion45
I kind of hope this gets disemvoweled. It'd be great just to see one big "lllllllllllll..."
@RevengaSweet: No no, you got your math all wrong 100 X awesome = AWESOME
yeah i'm in beta and just blatant clones everywhere, but the most I especially see are the deadpoolites.
highpingassassin
So, there's going to be like, hundreds of Supermans (Supermen?!) running around? Doesn't that sort of take the exclusiveness and specialness away from being a superhero?
RevengaSweet
olololololololololololololololololololol...
Jon Terp
Any news on the 360 version or is that totally canned?
If it's anything like CoH, I'm just gonna keep creating heroes and deleting without playing. Character creation was definitely the funnest part of that game!
Thut
Does CO have loot(better and different armor and weapons), or is it like CoH where you just enhance your power of what designed at the start?
Woo
Of course they would do that the week I'm going to be on vacation in Cancun...OF COURSE!
Oh well, I'll be the only comic book nerd with a tan in those servers :D
Totally going Commie superhero on the game.
I AM SO PUMPED FOR THIS GAME. I'm hoping it will be the Rockband to City of Heroes' Guitar Hero 1.
jinshifu
@Leanid: but this game is built around super hero's with powers not wealth, if it were built around wealth I'm sure I would be playing Carnegie as he built a bunch of libraries and I like books.
Nice to hear... I got into the beta about 2 months back and haven't really touched it due to the times we were allowed to played and real world events conflicting. That is life. What little I did play of it seemed pretty fun, and fairly polished.
@Cygnus_Mal: What, are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think he is? He's the goddamn BATMAN.
Leanid
@BlitzWhat: Shaun Elliot has beaten you, and will beat you, in any game that allows that.
@Crescendo: I'd be happy with a Green Lantern clone, but I do like to do original ones as well.
@Crescendo: They have claws and blades to attach to your hands, but so far none that can come out of the back of your hand. At least when I last spoke with my brother about it during his beta stint. Unless they change the blades to be able to come from emination points, shouldn't see many Wolvy clones.
Or Batman ones except in how they work, copied appearances that are blatant can and will be moderated by admins.
Jennacide
@Crescendo: I'm leaning more towards a Spider-Man clone myself.
Kanji08
@Cygnus_Mal: Wolverines... definitely Wolverines.
Finally. I can't stand scheduled betas.
@Cygnus_Mal: I don't know, does Champions have knives or something that can be used like Logan's claws? If it does, then sweet day one purchase.
Well it about time.
TalekAetem
So, whats the scoop on this? Who has played it, and whats good?
Vitalz
I can't wait to see if I can't stretch the character creation to breaking point, birthing the kind of glitchy walking nightmares normally not seen outside a Bethesda game gone awry.
@Crescendo: I say 1/2
notquitedeadyet
@Crescendo: But which will be higher: that or Wolverine clones?
@Crescendo: Plenty of clones of any of the big superheros.
How many Batman clones are you predicting once the game offically launches? I say lots.
nice finally!
Unee720
@CapnHulk:
I love CoV but left it due to lots repetitive missions. If Champions Online can fix some of that, my pink and purple villain my rise again!
