    Played through the game over the weekend. Very good game and a ton of fun. Can't wait for the DLC.

    @Orionsaint: That was the easiest level in the game so far.....
    and I'm playing on normal.

  • FaRReR

    @AllOfUsAreLost.: Ack! I want! I WANT RAWRAWRAWRAWRAWR

  • TearsandScreams

    @curly haired boy: Absolutely. Worst thing to have happened this gen by a mile. Exclusive DLC sucks.

  • TearsandScreams

    @Mr Pappzy lurves Orange Soda: I had an incredibly long debate with a friend over this, who was defending it adamantly, and I have to say with considerable logic and merit. His argument was if you budget for a game, say Resident Evil 5, and then have a seperate team working on the multiplayer, then that's two 'seperate' products, being developed by two 'seperate' teams. And also that it didn't make any difference whether the content came out a week later or three months later. I disagree with him immensely, but I feel he has a semblance of a point.

  • JSPOOLE

    @Orionsaint:

    Uh what? Maybe you weren't looking properly, but I assure you, there are people around shooting at you. You might have passed them so you can't see them.

    Bit of a silly comment actually.

    @BasBalManic:

    If you are interested in westerns or games with strong characters and story, I'd say it's absoloutely worth it.

    I haven't tried out the MP yet but I've heard good things about it, and the storyline is fantastic with some great set pieces. The graphics are pretty, the voice acting top notch...

    Personally, I think it's great, and the original too.

  • Orionsaint

    This game has some ridiculous hard moments, like that moving stage coach shootout, where you're getting shot from everywhere, but no ones around. I was disappointed with this game. I'm looking forward to Rockstar finally making a good western game.

  • moehannes

    @Witzbold: The best western/colonial themed shooter ever, period. Granted it's short as hell, but every second you play makes you feel like a badass gunslinger in the west.

    Ingenious cover system where you automatically take cover behind anything the moment you walk up to it and you adjust your peek by moving your mouse, no need to press any buttons at all, it does it by itself and I'm surprised as to why no other fps games have this cover system implemented.

    Wonderful story that links up the loose ends from the original and the voice acting is superb, Ray McCall is even more badass in his younger days as a bandit.

    I'd give it a 'buy' rating if the multiplayer was more polished, but it's still fun as hell (on my 3rd run through of the SP at the moment, choosing between Thomas and Ray provides plenty of replayability).

  • lil-hand

    @AllOfUsAreLost.: I don't think you could the actually story as a game, it just wouldn't feel right in that medium. However an rpg style game (maybe fallout 3 with a dash of mass effect) set in roland's world would be amazing. Build your ka-tet with people based on your actions. They could even take advantage of the doors and have all kinds of different worlds to visit.

  • mcderek3000

    Kudos for a company that provides DLC for all platform. Keep up the great work, guys!

  • Sammo21

    I've been thinking of getting this, nice to know this DLC isn't 360 only.

  • WoundedBum

    @reality.exe -console: Yeah well, that was different, Microsoft paid Rockstar to make the DLC for them. It was probably already planned, but Microsoft wantd to announce it to give more reasons to get a 360.

  • reality.exe -console

    @dennisb407: GTA4 - The game is two years off, and we're getting exclusive DLC!

  • Derangel

    @EnigmaNemesis: Not really. Old PC games added a little bit with patches, but not a lot. New stories or extensions to the main story were left for expansion packs that cost $30 and gave you, on average, 8-10 hours of extra game time.

    Derangel

  • T3rm1n4L

    @Wintrale: /signed :) More western games please.

  • T3rm1n4L

    @weevol: Buy it seriously. It was a reath of fresh iar for shooters. The story is great, The gameplay is great. Lots of extra things you can do like bounties and such. Overall I loved the game. I have the pc version and i didn't experience any tearing but as brainboy77 said, the last cutscene, er well last scene with dialogue for me had a bit of clipping but nothing serious. Overall its a fresh break of the usual war/sci-fi shooter. The only negative for me was the dialogue between the 2 brothers got stale fast. They repeat the same things over and over. Example: "Watch me brother you can learn something" then the other brother replies "All I learned is that i have the most annoying brother blah blah blah". You will hear that line quite a bit haha.

  • BasBalManic

    And now the question--whether to buy this game for the PC now, or to buy it for the PC later when there's a GOTY edition with the DLC included.

    I guess I'd better finish the first CoJ first before I decide...

    Is it worth $50? Would the DLC be worth the extra money to those who have bought/played the game?

  • Megamoppy

    @hot_heart: said I think it would be a good idea to go to the past rather than the actual story however with stuff like that I find it hard to consider it cannon.

  • D-K, owhoo... how unfortunate..

    @D-K, owhoo... how unfortunate..: The irony of my fail-reply is not lost on me, i can chuckle at myself. :-)..

    Let's just recap, you posed no question.. therefore the (seemingly) sarcastic "Thanks for the answers folks!" is out of place.. Unless of course you were asking a question, but fell victim to a grammatical misstep.

    ...

    i don't even know anymore.. posting is hard...

    D-K, owhoo... how unfortunate..

  • D-K, owhoo... how unfortunate..

    @Witzbold: Consider me a rude passerby jumping in on what seems to be a public monologue. Your western-theme question unleashed a wave of nostalgia to be enjoyed over some coco and corb cob pipe... If Sunset Riders doesn't take you back to the gaming days of yore, you're either too young or too old.

    Also, if you want answers, ask questions..which my friend, you did not.

    D-K, owhoo... how unfortunate..

  • GtheMVP99

    How about a patch for pc users with more than 4 gigs of ram first, game does not run past a few seconds of the opening intro!!!

    GtheMVP99

  • Witzbold

    @EnigmaNemesis: Oh yeah RDR looks great! Sounds pretty interesting a sandbox western. Graphics looked really nice too from the trailers!

  • JSPOOLE

    I thought this game was great, and I don't mind dlc announcements because in no way did I feel short changed or that they left anything out.

    My xbox live is still down for about a week till I get my connection sorted, so I can't wait to try multiplayer, but as a single player story game, I thought it was brilliant.

    JSPOOLE

  • Swift_

    Too soon. Probably could have been on the disc then? Sure sounds like it to me.

    @Witzbold:

    The first one was decent, really captured the western feel. Music was fantastic.

    I will give this one a go on the PC when it hits bargain. I am really looking forward to Red Dead Redemption though!

  • EnigmaNemesis

    @Cloudleet:

    Sounds like old school PC games.

  • EtisArap

    @brainboy77: How about you support a game that is DRM free, and not tell people to pirate shit.

    EtisArap

  • curly haired boy

    THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IS THE DLC IS NOT PLATFORM-EXCLUSIVE.

    i don't care what the content is, just make it available for all platforms that the game was released on.

    this needs to be a rule for all DLC. it's good to see some developers getting it right for a change.

    curly haired boy

  • EnigmaNemesis

    @Abel_Prisc:

    Unless it was in an MMO design like Second Life, then people can share and see others portrayals of it.

    But that will never happen, so we can just sit here and dream.

  • Karlott

    @Cerabret100: 4 pieces of DLC at 5 bucks a pop is usually way way way less than a 20 dollar expansion used to buy you.

  • hot_heart

    @Abel_Prisc: I think, like the comic series, it should go back to before the books. Be about a younger Roland and the war with Farson.

    Or, I think a game based on growing up from childhood (like Fable) while having you train to be a gunslinger would be great. Then after a while you duel Cort to be a gunslinger and if you fail you could wind up an exile like Eldred Jonas or if you pass, a true gunslinger. Could work as an MMO otherwise...

  • Witzbold

    @Poul Wrist: Thanks for the answers folks!

  • Abel_Prisc

    @undefined: I'd absolutely dread the idea of a video game. The Dark Tower series is my absolute favorite book series of all time, but I just think how King describes the world is too obscure (intentionally). The only real description we've got of it is that it's 'moved on', and everyone has their own ideas as to what that means.

    In the end, after many discussions I've had with friends, I've come to the conclusion that everybody has a different idea about the worlds in The Dark Tower, and that's exactly what King wanted. So a video game would only disappoint.

    Abel_Prisc

  • Phester

    @schmixx: Let's not forget Modred, the Red King, and my absolute favorite bad guy of all time, Randall Flagg!

  • Megamoppy

    @dreadwing: Thanks for the impressions, I think im gonna borrow the first one off my friend if only to know the story and then i'll grab this ASAP, I do enjoy a ol' west shooter.

  • Cerabret100

    @abort_user: DLC doesn't usually cost as much though.

    I guess whether all DLC for a game would equal a traditional expansion in both content and price depends on the individual game though.

    Cerabret100

  • abort_user

    @Zkuq: some companies still make expansions. some make both (like bethesda). but i agree for the most part dlc is just little bits and things where expansions actually expanded the game.

    abort_user

  • Cloudleet

    @dennisb407: I now announce that when my game comes out, there will be a dlc out after three months which features a whole new story, more multiplayermaps, 7000 new weapons and 56 new enemies!
    it will also be FREE! I'm giving it away, because I love videogames and I don't wanna take advantage of people and make them pay more after they've already bought it!

    and my game will be out in.... five-six years!

    Cloudleet

  • brainboy77

    @Megamoppy: Haven't played the multiplayer, but I beat the singleplayer yesterday. The story is really good, and the graphics are amazing. The only flaws I saw were screen tearing (PC version)and a little bit of clipping. The clipping is pretty rare; I only noticed it during the last cutscene. Get the PC version; it's cheaper and looks a lot better.

    @D-K, owhoo... how unfortunate..: Sunset Riders had that Arcade hardass touch in it, so i loved the game too. the voices of the charachters were so bad, that i loved them cause theyre funny, only thing i didnt like were the punk horses :/

    On a side question, if i beat the game correctly, and saw the credits, this game was developed by around what? 13-15 names is what I counted....

    GeluAnimus

  • Mcmax3000

    @fastpotato: Just because it's announced now, doesn't mean that it'll be out tomorrow. They may have just started working on it & we might not see it for 6-8 months.

    Hell, they never even said it was going to be paid DLC (though, I agree, it likely will be).

    At least give them the benefit of the doubt until it's released. Then, if it's not worth it, you can complain but right now we don't know a price/release date or even what the content is going to include.

  • iRayman

    @Ursus-Veritas:

    Seconded, both the multiplayer and singleplayer are highly enjoyable, in my opinion, it was well worth the purchase. Singleplayer is very diverse and fun, with a compelling storyline and some innovative level design. Meanwhile, the multiplayer is fresh and original, it's good to see them trying something new, instead of the tired staple of Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and CTF, the Wild West Legends mode in particular is both unique and refreshing, easily my favourite part about this game.

    iRayman

  • Xhacker02

    @Mr Pappzy lurves Orange Soda:
    What about Blazblue eh? DLC released days before the game's release, and its for content that's already in the game!

  • Poul Wrist

    @Witzbold: The game was great. However, very short. 7h 11m for a playthrough on hard, and not much reason to play through a second time, as there's no alternative endings or anything. Only once in a while you can choose to play as either Thomas or Ray to see a different part of a level, but it's really just the same thing. Thomas also feels hopelessly gimp compared to Ray :|
    If you are a multiplayer person, maybe it's worth it for you, but I would hesitate to throw the huge bucks after the Xbox version. The PC version, which I played, was fairly priced and I didn't feel all that robbed... though for such a short game with no real lasting appeal to me, who do not care about multiplayer, I would've liked a lower pricing point. But the production value of the campaign is very high, so I guess that would be impossible.

    Poul Wrist

  • Poul Wrist

    @weevol: This has to be one of the better games in a long time, at least storywise. It was rather short though, time logged by the game for completion on hard for me was 7h 11m. I think that time is not total playtime, but rather the time it took to complete each level without calculating in all the retrys from dying... if you can find it at a good price for the PC I'd say it's worth it. However, if you want it for the Xbox, I wouldn't think so, console games are just too expensive. At least I personally don't care about the multiplayer, so that's not a value-adding component for me. If you want the multiplayer, it may be worth it.

    Poul Wrist

  • Ursus-Veritas

    @fastpotato: I'm sorry, but I didn't think when I handed money over something I enjoyed and was willing to hand the money over for I was being pickpocketed. Maybe they do it different in your area?

    I don't care if the DLC is in 2011 or next tuesday. I'll pay for it no matter when it's released - god, devs are so annoying for supporting their games with extra content =S

  • Spiders88

    Nice to see they are supporting the game with dlc so soon. I love how some companies sit around for months without any annoucement and then 5 months lately give you something weak.

  • Mr Pappzy lurves Orange Soda

    @Jaga420:
    Come on people don't feed the troll.

    Mr Pappzy lurves Orange Soda

  • iRayman

    @fastpotato:

    It's the individuals choice to buy the DLC, and it's the dev's choice to continue supporting the game with new content, I, for one, am thankful for the advent of downloadable maps and missions, it provides longevity and keeps the game from getting stale too quickly.

    iRayman

  • Ursus-Veritas

    @Megamoppy: I agree about the singleplayer, but disagree with what you say about the multiplayer, I've found it to be incredibly enjoyable. Definitley worth the money, methinks.

  • D-K, owhoo... how unfortunate..

    @Witzbold: Sunset Riders for me, loved every minute of it.

    D-K, owhoo... how unfortunate..

  • schmixx

    @AllOfUsAreLost.: Ugh...never thought about THAT. Holy hell, what an awesome setting. The wastelands, Lud, the slow mutants, Blaine, Shardik and and and. Awesome.

  • Mr Pappzy lurves Orange Soda

    @Antiterra:

    Depends. Nowadays it's expected for there to be some sort of dlc, and some devolpers tend to just announce it to gain hype and to please fans(ie: Mordern warfare 2). But does it really count if the content was not under devolpement yet?

    On a slighty off topic note, it does really piss me off when the contemt comes mere weeks after the game is shiped. Gears of War 2 and Resident evil 5 content came out too quickly in my opion, leaving no reason for people to by the maps/gamemode if they wheren't bored with the shipped ones yet!

    Publishers need to pay more attention to CoD: World at War dlc plan. The time space between the game coming out and the 2 map packs being released was perfect. I wonder how many people went back to playing World at War due to the new content being realeased?

    Mr Pappzy lurves Orange Soda

  • Booken

    @fastpotato: Oh? You'd rather have it 3 years after launch, when everyone has forgotten about it?

  • Zkuq

    I think I really hate DLC. I really wish we had good old expansions, even if they were distributed online.

  • roscoe

    @Jaga420: jesus chriiiist. why bother commenting?

  • fastpotato

    I'm getting sick of DLC that is announced so soon after release. I feel so sorry for the people who pay full price for these games, yet still get pick pocketed afterwards from developers.

    @Jaga420: Yeah good thing this ISNT A NEWS SITE then eh?

  • mablung

    @trogam: or have a VATS like quick draw system. Roland is deadly fast with his guns.

  • trogam

    @Megamoppy: The story is there, but yeah the bullet time would be annoying. It'd probably end up being a cover shooter with a different coat of paint.

    trogam

  • dreadwing

    @Megamoppy: Yes it is great, I don't think the multiplayer mode is so good though
    There is way more polish in the single player mode.

    To me it was worth the purchase.

  • PeteyCoco

    @Jaga420: There's always one...

  • Megamoppy

    Anyone who has bought BIB, how is it? Any good?

  • Megamoppy

    @AllOfUsAreLost.: Holy hell I haven't even thought about a game of The Dark Tower though im not sure how it would work outside of bullet time (which is cliche ridden as it is).

  • Jaga420

    Hmm news this week seems slow....

  • Ursus-Veritas

    Oooh, I can't wait. I'm really enjoying this game at the moment, I don't even care if it was already on the disc or whatever people want to moan and whinge about. The more the merrier, in my opinion.

    Bring on the DLC!

  • Witzbold

    Im just curious to see how the game is.

    Since been a LOOOOOOOOOONG while since played anything with a western theme in it.

  • AllOfUsAreLost.

    Still waiting for some sort of Dark Tower / inspired game.
    Word is that the LOST guys have picked up the rights, so.... wait, actually, perhaps they shouldn't do the game..

  • Wintrale

    @ray89: I agree! We need more Westerns. I can't stand most Western films, but I love the games. Where's Gun 2? :P

  • Antiterra

    @dennisb407: Faster than devs who announce DLC before the game has even been released? Don't think so.

  • ray89

    /cue IT SHOULD HAVE SHIPPED WITH THE GAME.

    ---

    But on a more serious note...I like the western shooters, I liked the first one, as well as GUN and Red Dead...so hopefully the DLC for this will be worth it.

  • weevol

    I'm still split as to buy this game or leave it alone.
    Hope the DLC is worth the penny!

    YEEEEEEEEHAW.

  • Matthew Lynagh

    It's a good game, but if I'm going to buy, it has to be cheap or a long mission.

    Matthew Lynagh

  • dennisb407

    Probably the fastest announcement of DLC ever!!

    dennisb407

  • Strangelove

    I don't care what the reviews say, Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood is my favorite game of the year so far. Better than Ghostbusters, better than Zeno Clash, but Dawn of Discovery is giving it a run for its money.

    Also, DLC would only interest me if its single-player. CoJ MP just doesn't do it for me.

  • Strangelove

    @AllOfUsAreLost.:

    Now that would be awesome, but I think the Stephen King brand has lost some of it's cachet over the last decade.

  • diagorus

    @ray89:

    Yeah, when games are notably short and then they sell dlc, i usually don't support.

    diagorus

  • Hungry_Ghost

    I can't believe this game isn't co-op. So lame.
