Emo-Speedball Joins Ultimate Alliance 2, 3 Cast Reveals Left

@jayntampa: I know someone on a forum whose friend works on developing this game and those are the playables. Nick Fury is the only one he's unsure of because what his friend said to him was vague.

@Vamplosion: A developer has already said that Fury is an NPC. At SDCC, it was said at the panel that there are 2 more reveals -- and one more character that will never be revealed. Most likely, it'll never be revealed because the character would spoil the story. The only character that fits with that scenario that we can think of is Nova.

The two that will be revealed will most like be Ms Marvel (this is for sure) and either Iceman, Cyclops, Hawkeye or Punisher. Now, we already have 4 X-men for a team, making Punisher or Hawkeye a bit more likely.

@Jayenkai: and you have to admit, that picture looks almost exactly like the image you get when you lose in speedball 2.

I'm gonna call it right here and now: Final three are: Punisher, Ms. Marvel, Sentry, with Sentry as the big secret.

My "Wouldn't it be cool, but I doubt it'll happen" list runs Bullseye (I doubt this, because with Daredevil and Deadpool already in, he'd be redundant in gameplay), The Hood (w/Dormammu action), and Yellowjacket.

I think Pym'd be espescially fun to play, with alternating shrink and grow powers. Downside: Inevitably myself or one of my low-bred friends would take to shouting "That'll teach you to act right!" and other choice domestic violence cliches as battle cries.

@Xaero_Dumort: And Venom was part of the Thunderbolts, who were all registered. Sentry was also. Hulk wasn't even on the planet, but it's not like everyone doesn't know he's Bruce Banner. So in essence, you listed an entire Pro-Registration team sans Hulk as your Anti-Registration team. Which you can do whatever you want.

@Dedwan / Deadpool: Deadpool worked for Tony Stark. He was indifferent but worked Pro-Registration because it gave him free reign.

$50 says Squirrel Girl. Perhaps merely as a joke to fans, since I'm pretty certain she had nothing to do with the Civil War. I'm not all that into the comics, though, so I can't say for sure.

I think that, probably, the last character thown in will be Sentry!

And if I'm right, my Anti Registration group will be: Sentry, Hulk, Deadpool e Venom.

Nice. Penance is one of my favorite recent Marvel characters. I was hoping he'd make the cut.

The dude has a reason to be the way he is. It's a bit extreme what he did to himself but he has more of a reason than what others call "emo"

The cast lineup seems pretty dull so far, IMO. Most of the same characters from the first game. Mostly X-men and Fantastic 4. Even though this is following the Civil War concept, I personally don't need them to have characters that were in the comics be in the game either. :P Still, I am going to buy this and have some fun with it.

@jayntampa: Yeah the list was leaked ages ago, I tried to e-mail kotaku. But I think the last playables are Iceman, Ms Marvel and Nick Fury.

Cyclops and Pyslocke are meant to be ps2 exclusives, or perhaps wii.

There is a point when greediness goes to far and they really over-shot that one by a mile(because lets be honest here,the reason they did the whole crap was to kick back spiderman into his younger days so they can keep selling his comics instead of someday having to deal with him losing his superhero-weakness of being a selfish brat).
That actually made me stop reading marvel save for Deadpool(which I stopped after the recent miniseries...so bad).

@bangbangblah: i stand corrected my friend. I must admit, im not the biggest bright eyes fan as connor oberst voice annoys me terribly. But when i said it describes a culture, i recall during my late middle school/high school days an "emo" rising. With a lot of bands being called emo and a whole emo fashion scene. But now all thats changed since the scene is ever evolving and ever changing. Like an amoeba.

All i ment to say in my original post really was that "emo" is now used as a noun/adjective really. i just find it tiresome when people try to rise up and defend the use of the word emo belonging to some long forgotten era of music.

@Bardock: Totally agree. You know the emo fad doesn't annoy me as much as the emo hating fad. Ever since everyone wanted to hate emos, anything that shows emotions like depression, some sort of suicidal impulse or just looks "dark" is labeled as emo. It is so dumb.

You get a character that has actual reasons for being tragic, and then "lol emo". Before it was "oh sephiroth is so cool" now is "lol emo".

@chapoec: 1) There are other survivng members of the New Warriors, they just weren't at Stanford, and 2) The NW didn't even cause the explosion, Nitro did - who was powered up artificially far beyond his normal power levels by a group called Damage Control.

So the NW had no way of knowing a guy that could normally only explode in a few feet area could blow up an entire town.

Penance is the worst thing to come out of Civil War. Speedball was one of my favorites, but he's dead to me now. :(

@ArmyofJuan: Bright Eyes is not emo. It's a huge misconception that any big music fan will shut down immediately. You'll also rarely ever see a music journalist call them anything close to emo, and there's a reason to that. If you actually look into the songs they play, topics addressed, etc. and not simply pay attention the haircut Oberst had about 5 years ago, you'll know what I mean.

In fact, most comparisons that Bright Eyes ACTUALLY draws are with artists like Bob Dylan -- the folk and great songwriters of our time. Sure, some of the earlier songs are pretty depressing, but I dare you to name a single respected band that doesn't address depressing issues with their music. Even the Beach Boys did it! And they're often considered some of the most happy music to listen to.

And speaking of your last comment, "And as for emo not being around anymore, you tell that to Bright Eyes." the last Bright Eyes album was more borderline COUNTRY than emo. They haven't done anything that might even be compared to emo for about 7 years, so yeah that comment doesn't make much sense either.

/ End of unrelated-to-video-games rant. Sorry, I just don't like talented songwriters being put the "emo" genre where so many crappy artists managed to make their name.

Emo= Emotive Hardcore, a form of Seattle-area DIY-Punk from the mid-80's and it died out before the mid-90's and never had a subculture. No offense, but get your facts straight.

The Marvel Universe is darker and more mature rather than fun and innocent? So that explains why they took Dark, Mature, Interesting Spiderman and retconned him back to a state of relative carefree-ness and uninteresting-ness.

I find it annoying when Penance is called emo. It's emo to dress in black and cut yourself to Enter Shikari. Being guilt ridden by being the scapegoat for a few hundred deaths isn't all that emo.

Speedball pretty much had to be in the game. He is the only surviving member of the "New Warriors" the assholes that caused the Stanford explosion.
