Still doesn't look like a simulation, but an arcade game. Sorry FIFA, but Theo Walcott would not ever pull a move like that consistently/effectively in a game. This isn't SSX.

I'm a convert to FIFA from PES and FIFA '09 is probably the best game ever made. That said, there are some things that need to be fixed in FIFA 10: (1) The ranking system is broken; (2) Everybody plays at the same few teams, and the game fails to provide incentives for picking weaker teams online; (3) Some players--Christiano Ronaldo, cough, cough--have Bo Jackson in Tecmobowl-type abilities, which can be very frustrating; (4) Why can't you set your formation/lineup and then carry it over into online ranked play without having to reset everything?

rooney? lol... clearly the only freekick in that game is being taken by a player from bayern munich. looks like someone needs to learn teams before bashing what i would call a fantastic looking game.

Publishers need to learn the difference between "actual gameplay footage" and "actual cut scene footage," the latter being what EA is obviously showing here.

@Lou3000: Release a World Cup mode as DLC would be another step in the right direction for the franchise.

Certainly not buying it as an all new game.

PES fan now fully supporting FIFA here.

That absolutely appears to be using their in-game engine. I think that's what they mean about "gameplay."

@jrstryker: EA does have a nasty habit of offering special editions for the World Cup. I have a bad feeling this game comes out in October and 6 months later we will have a World Cup specific game.

Though as with Ultimate team, I would much rather pay 10-15 dollars to get World Cup content than buy an all new game.

This is only "actual gameplay footage" if you set camera at that angle, which is damn near unplayable.

@CHU BOI: regardless of how bad PES/WE became, FIFA's been top notch since 07, I think. I got 09 and it's simply brilliant, and I'll definitely get 10.

And that's coming from someone that plays WE since 2 or 3, on PS1. Therefore, a fervent (but former) FIFA basher :P

I may actually pick this up. Never owned a FIFA game, but they're fun to play. Plus, World Cup's around the corner, so we gotta show some love, right?

@CHU BOI: I'm a Chelsea fan. Do you know what I "effin' hate" with a passion? War, poverty, political corruption, persecution, racism, drink driving, corporate greed, criminal behaviour, terminal diseases, and terrorism. I just can't seem to muster up any hatred for a rival football club.

Wonder if FIFA 2010 will have a world cup mode? It's a must buy if it does. Otherwise, I'll just see if there are enough changes to warrant buying '10 when I'm still playing the hell out of '09.

"Actual gameplay footage" is legally binding, atleast over here in Europe. Companies will be, and have been, sued over lies in ads before and it doesn't happen anymore. You see "actual gameplay footage" and "Representative of gamplay" before ads now. There is a difference.

@CHU BOI: I'm taking FIFA this year myself. Since 08, they've had a designer and producer that loved Pro Evo, and hated FIFA, so we're seeing game play changes in that direction. Check the FIFA tag here on Kotaku, there's an article about it. But yeah, it's looking Stellar. And yeah mate, Man. Utd for life.

Looks nice, looks more of a target render than actual gameplay footage but still a must buy for me.

I'm not claiming FIFA 10 will turn out to be a "bad game", but I'm not buying into this "actual gameplay footage" bullshit.

I wouldn't even claim EA to be deceptive or anything, because "actual gameplay footage" is not a legally binding or even defined term. So it's essentially nothing more than a slogan that consumers can choose to either believe or not.

It's like if Pizza Hut said that their new take on Pizza is "the best ever", it's not empiric, it's just catering towards the sheeple and having it rewarded in money.

I've loved PES (with the exception of last year's screw-up, 08 I think), but bought FIFA09 for a good price and am not so sure anymore which one to go for...

It's a nice dilemma to have.

In other news, FIFA10 lookin' top notch this year. I've skipped it (and sports games in general)since '05. I dunno, I got jaded b/c I just feel sports games can never fully replicate a real player's emotions during a game. They'll never feel real. The Adidas live season stuff is def a step in the right direction and is rebuilding my confidence in the sports genre , so that's why I personally would pick FIFA over PES this year.

What do u guys think?

Gonna buy this game anyway, Fifa has just gotten awesome in recent times.

I haven't ever purchased a FIFA game when it was new, and I don't actually have anything past FIFA 06 or something, but this trailer really really makes me want the new one.

The animations finally look believable to me, not so much weird shifting from move to move. Thats definitely a good thing.

Wow. Very impressive. Pro Evo better pull something good because this looks fantastic.
