Infinite Space Charting Course For Spring Of Next Year
PlatinumGames third title—after MadWorld and Bayonetta—is Infinite Space, the sci-fi role-playing game co-developed by Nude Maker. Long story short, the Nintendo DS RPG now has a North American release window.
According to a new trailer for the game, which can be seen here, Infinite Space will grace these shores in Spring of 2010. Yes, that seems like a long way off, especially if you are chomping at the bit to customise your space ship and have spacey adventures interspersed with animated cut scenes.
Fret not, impatient gamers, because it looks like the game will be worth it, if reviews and sales of the Japanese version of Infinite Space are any indication. Besides, you don’t want it to come out this fall or holiday season, only to get crushed by the weight of a crowded Q4, do you?

@Antiterra: Woah woahh, WHAT? I thought it was just region locked in DSi games? Holy crap thats bad!
Oh yes, yes, yes!
@Witzbold: It looks wordy. Is that why?

Despite the really "typical" setup, I'm actually kind of interested in this game now, where I hadn't even heard of it before. Except...the way that trailer goes, now I'm wanting "Infinite Space: the anime" more than "Infinite Space: the video game."
But thanks for bringing it to my attention Kotaku. That's what hits the spot - exotic JRPG licensing reporting.
Damn, I need to get back to DS gaming!
So little time, so many games.
I bought it for the Zelda game (loved it!) and have been amazed by the quality and quantity of good DS titles...
I wish I had more time...
Maybe i'll start bringing it to work :)
eh eh eh
@Antiterra: Really?! DSi is region locked? I'm glad I read your post. I will not be buying a DSi.
Lack of GBA slot was ALMOST a dealbreaker. Zero interest in the cameras, but thought the bigger screens would be nice.
And you should probably just get a new DS lite, no?

This game's already out in Japan, isn't it? Does anyone know how the reviews have been? I'm kind of hoping they're terrible, so I can't stop thinking about it.
Great news, everyone! We have a delive--- huh, I mean a new RPG!
Neither of my portables has received much attention lately (i.e. in 2009). Things are about to change for the PSP, and hopefully the DS side of town will wake up, too.
However, I loved Clover but have no interest in Platinum Games' first 2 projects (Madworld and Bayonetta), so I'll just be cautiously optimistic on this one.
@excel_excel: Christmas 2011 in Europe, if all goes well...?
I can't even import anymore, since my DS Lite crapped out on me and I replaced it with a DSi. It never even crossed my mind that Nintendo could be lame enough to region-lock the DSi.
I imagine I should have done my research, but seriously, who would expect a mere redesign to change such a major aspect of the system?
Before finding out, I even ordered Shin Megami Tensei Devil Survivor from the US (still not announced for Europe). Now, I probably won't be able to play it when it arrives...
I guess it's time I got one of those flashcards I've been hearing about, and download an illegal copy in order to play a game I already fucking own. Way to curb piracy, Nintendo...

Well, I guess it now gets to join Sands of Destruction on the list of RPGs I really want to play but have to wait until 2010 to play.
It was bad enough the game was supposed to come out at the very beginning of 2009 for USA and now will be out an entire year later. The whole "we don't want it to be crushed by the other games" excuse is wearing thin now.

This is the best news I got today!!!!
Thanks to this I will not be buying an R4 to play the japanese version of Infinite Space "by force".
I browsed the crap of this game's japanese website and I have high expectations for it. As someone already said, Sega has been on the ball lately, they are supporting and promoting a lot of new games with fresh and innovating ideas across the board. Valkyria Chronicles, The Conduit and now I am counting the days for Infinite Space.
Thank you Sega for taking risks and supporting new games.

@jayntampa: The trailer that shows nothing but low budget anime video?
Erion04
@jayntampa: Gameplay. There's none of it in that trailer.

Next YEAR?! WHYYYYYY!!!!!
Great game.
Can see why its taking a while too.
Sega's on the freakin' ball lately, dude... I'm loving it.
damnit, the gamestop my bro works for had it listed 12/31/09 for placeholder, i was hoping for jan-feb 2010 release window

The DS keeps getting all the good RPGs. ;_; I've held out this long, don't make me buy one!
I have been waiting, and waiting for this one. Glad to see it has a release date.
Bluevirage
About damn time. Day one'd on this hotness. Also, standard, gratuitous anime boobs.
I found the battle system a little weird. Otherwise it's a decent game. Didn't really meet my expectations, but the hype level was enormous (I was expecting Mass Effect DS). I wish there was more to do on planets. Felt more like a text adventure game with some random space encounters.
Prophane33
Me gets.
Since this is probably going to be dubbed anyway, this BETTER have a damn good one. Sub par dubs ruin things that weren't even any better in their original language (Phantasy Star Universe, Star Ocean 4).
ShimodaNexus
I have high expectations for this game, Hopefully it'll live up to them. I could use a good space opera.
@futurehobo300: It's not so much a joke as truth in advertising. They used to make PC erotic games.

Looks...interesting. Platinum Games has been doing some rather unique things with their games. Im looking foward to more on this game soon. (well...in english, atleast. Im too lazy to look up crap in Japanese) Though...what kind of game will this be? RPG? Strategy? Action? ...what?
I totally can't wait for this ... I already have it pre-ordered :P
@CHunterX: Go watch the trailer.
DS? Really? I can only pray its a game with 2D sprites.
@Siegeman: No :|
Indeed.
I am highly intrigued. *_*
Mister_CrazyGuy
@excel_excel: Whoa, whoa, whoa... they release GAMES in EUROPE?
Siegeman
This game looks amazing. Really all I'm looking for is some agreement here, but I'm sure I'll get that so just disagree for arguments sake. Because nobody in their right mind wouldn't want this game. So, again, feel free to disagree. Just don't expect us to believe you.
sandal-hat is sad that bleach is back to filler
@excel_excel: And I blame you dirty french men for it
hoh hoh hoh
I need this game. So slick looking.
ABOUT TIME.
Dope boy hero - on a sabbatical.
Can't bloody wait for it. HURRY IT UP. A US import is the best for me seeing as their is no europe release date confirmed as usual
