It's all about time management really. I mean pretty much read about how successful people in the past (or even the present if you care) managed busy schedules and had time for leisure, work and everything really.

I normally have enough time to socialize despite working taking over most of my time (which resulted in my fitting my enjoyment of other stuff with work). Also I've exchanged watching TV for gaming. I think I probably watch shows only as part of research since I have to watch a lot of shows and films as part of work - I don't really watch them on TV when I'm home - much rather spend time with my family and do some late night gaming.

@Man in the mirror: Dwarf Fortress has ASCII graphics and is in constant development by one man.

That one man is giving the game away for free, yet he receives enough donations in a year to pay for roof, shelter, food, electricity, etc. He has a doctorate in (I believe) Experimental Mathematics (or something like that) and gave up his well-paying job to develop DF full-time.

He's doing it out of love for his game, not for money or profit.

Get a Peter Gibbons-esque Office Space job, but instead of being unhappy about doing 15-minutes of 'real work' use the remaining 7 hours and 45 minutes doing things that you would like to.

By the time I get home, I have enough time to cook worthwhile, healthy food, workout, fit a two hours of gaming, & watch a half-hour of anime.

I manage one cable drama show a night as 'quality time' with the gf. This year we've managed to complete The Wire & Six Feet Under. The challenge now is that we've spread ourselves thin by starting a whole bunch of shows all at once including True Blood, Dead Like Me, Dexter, Rome, The Tudors, Big Love & Deadwood. Not to mention she's a big House fan & I'm a huge Mad Men fan.

The two biggest challenges right now?
1) The NetfliXbox 360 streaming is TOO good, and our instant queue has over 410 titles.
2) My make-the-most-the-day lifestyle doesn't leave much room for impulsiveness. I'm thinking of making Saturdays my 'don't plan anything' day.

Ok, that was awesome, i love the way you can see through the portals and how the perspective changes when you go through.
The guy who made this is really talented and from the narration I'm guessing quite enthusiastic.

I thought that the first image was an 8-bit surveillance camera.

That's a good example for the fact that grphics don't really matter that much in the end. It's about a cool idea in the first place. Everything else is secondary, only gameplay matters.

Why waste to many talent on a game that will be the target only to entusiasts like me and give a mix between nostalgy and excitment on a new game, when you can make a game like that with good graphics and sell it (aka: make money)?

Well, who am I to complain, I'm not the one doing it and I don't have money as I want to and I spend my time playing games and reading.

@Tenshigure: agree with the multitasking. Sure when it comes down to it at home it's pretty much a power guzzling thing. But I usually listen to new music, watch a show and do research/write scripts/sculpt/character model for work all at the same time.

We just need to make maximum use of all the time we have really.

@cleversignin: Umm no the PS3 port looked nearly identicle to the 360 port... the only real issue with the ps3 orange box was hl2ep2 framerate drops and tf2 laggy servers.

@carrliadiere: When a show is as good as The Wire, you make time, godammit.

@(Zombie) Jolan: I feel like it'd've been to quick a leap forward. Not enough people would "get it", they'd all be like "wtf is happening".

Things like level design (that teaches skills) weren't really solid yet. Games were more "level 9 is a harder/faster version of level 1", if only because there was such a limited number of "skills" a game character could execute.

Also, it would cause the Rapture and the End of Days.

"Running in ASCII"? I don't think those words mean what you think they mean.

@carrliadiere: you really should try and make time to watch the Wire. Top quality show. Although they are an hour long, it is worth watching. Deffo worth the investment. might work my way through all five seasons again.

Anywho, Impressive stuff none the less. wish i could do something like that with my time, instead of watching old reruns on tv.

@(Zombie) Jolan: Maybe, maybe not. But it definitely would be topping a bunch of "Greatest ASCII games EVAR!11ONE" lists on amateur game sites, right next to ZZT.

@carrliadiere: Multitasking during your free time helps (I personally watch most of my TV shows during my lunch break on my laptop to unwind a bit, for example).

This, well put into consideration the game itself has been out for a few years, and you can see if they committed only an hour a day to the project they'd have quite a bit of time put into it.

That is completely awesome.
