Jack Black Has An Axe To Grind

There’s nothing quite as terrifying as Jack Black swinging around a giant battle axe, as evidenced by episode 4 of Brutal Thoughts with Jack Black.

Eddie Riggs wields a battle axe with skill and grace in Brutal Legend. Jack Black, on the other hand, kills the boom operator. Are you kids out there getting the picture? Just because it’s okay for a video game character to run around killing things with stylised medieval weaponry doesn’t mean you should. The only time you should wildly swing around bladed weapons is under controlled circumstances. Or when you’re really drunk. Let this be a lesson.

@NeoStarr: Eddie Riggs would probably just kill Joshua for being a prat, not knowing that (SPOILERS): ...such an act would pretty much end existence. Which would be pretty metal, and also kinda' emo, so hey, both franchises covered. ^o^

This could turn into a mini-series. I could see a witty Brutal Legend cartoon. lol. In all honesty, the game play still doesn't get me terribly excited, but the music and humorous dialogue alone warrant a buy.

@Hasty Pastry: Who says The D isn't metal?! I personally love Jack Black. Ever since the Tenacious D HBO special way back in the day. I think he's the perfect choice for this role.

@Gorilla Snow is Maximum Risky: Man, that IS totally surprising to me. Just the other day I was telling a friend of mine how much I thought Gorilla Snow is Maximum Risky hated Jack Black. And now I find this out? Life's crazy and, at times, surprising.

@g0daemon: I just took a good long listen to it and, yes indeed, that is Iced Earth, and at the very end it is definitely "Pure Evil" off of Night of the Stormrider. Good catch. Don't know exactly what the other stuff is, but it's definitely in the Iced Earth style. Didn't sound exactly like a song from any of my favorite albums, although the thrashiness would indicate it's a song from their self-titled album.

@RadicalTed: I half expected the wikipedia page to have a big picture of Jacks face with the caption "MADE YOU LOOK!" Unfortunately, it seems it was just somebody looking for kicks as the sentence is down now and, according to the history, was only just put up today. I don't understand why though, I mean, that's common knowledge around these parts.

Be Kind Rewind was good with him. I see Black as a not-so-funny as Farley but he's alive and Brutal Legend looks great with his voice acting.

In all fairness, though, you are right. It is cool when a celeb takes a game seriously instead of using it as another excuse to fill their wallets :)

@Mister Jack is Stalking Konata: No kidding, people are always complaining that Tenacious D isnt a metal band but the point is they hired an actor to do the voice of Eddie Riggs and Jack Black was probably the best choice for the role.

@Mister Jack is Stalking Konata: I don't enjoy Jack Black's comedy but I did love his voice acting in Kung Fu Panda. Since it's pretty much his voice and somewhat his look in this game, maybe just maybe I'll give it a chance. I shake when I say that but I know I can do it.

Surprisingly enough, Wikipedia DOES confirm this to be true. At least at the moment. I never knew there really were cyclops-es in ancient Greece!

There is actually something more terrifying than jack black swinging around a giant battle axe.

That would be christian Bale swinging around a giant battle axe and knowing him, he would probably aim for the lighting guy instead of the boom operator.
Or he'd just swing it like a mad man in an attempt to hit anything and everything near him.

Even if you guys don't like or are tired of Jack Black, you have to at least admit that it's a good thing a big name, recognizable celebrity like him is doing so much to help promote this game and is actually taking it seriously, as opposed to some celebrities who get involved with gaming just because it seems like another way to get money. We could use more Jack Blacks or Vin Diesels in the gaming industry.
