The last time I've played this was on my Dreamcast before it finally died. Even at the current asking cost, I personally think it's worth the money considering how much fun I had with it in the past (your mileage may vary). Castlevania: SOTN was a great re-purchase and this will be, too!

Well the demo was exclusive to the PS3 right? It makes sense that they would have a solid release date for that console rather than for the 360. Still 360 updates are earlier in the week so who knows

$15 is too much for a game I own already. Gib price cut and I'll buy if the online is good.

I'm really torn over which system to buy it for. I've been anxiously awaiting this game all summer, and I was totally bummed when it wasn't out on June 29th. My friends have 360s, but I can't stand the d-pad. I played it on the PS3 in demo form, and really liked it. But then I couldn't play online with my friends. Decisions, decisions.

Ill say this much. For as Unbalanced as MvsC2 is, it's hella fun to play with friends in a Non-Competitive

I saw Marvel Vs Capcom 2 at a local store for £20 used, I would of bought it just because that's a steal. However when I looked at the disc, the game was so scratched that I decided to wait rather than having it fixed. I don't really mind waiting a month anyways.

Seriously, people need to put the pro characters on their screenshots. Hulk and Zangief x3 just don't cut it. For reference, the characters you should be seeing are: Sentinel, Storm, Magneto, Cable, Cyclops (AA Assist), Captain Commando (AA Assist), Psylocke (AA Assist), and maybe Strider + Doctor Doom or Iron Man.

This is the title I have been waiting for... used to play it in the arcade all the time as a teen. It's about time I have the opertunity to purchase this title. I never owned a dreamcast and couldn't find the title on ps2 anywhere without having to pay over 80 bucks for it. So this is just refreshing.

@Mommar: That seems more than a little suspect to me on your part. Not to say you're a bad player or anything but I've had no less than ten of my friends buy a FightPad and no one's had a single lick of trouble with them in terms of unresponsiveness or it being sloppy.

I've bought marvel vs capcom 2 twice for ps2. And I've sold both a long time ago. For profit. Getting all the character alternate colors was a pain! I also got less points at the end of story/arcade mode if I kept using the same team to beat the game...

@Kazama Sogetsu ♥ BlazBlue: I did the same thing, I'm honestly pretty unhappy with the d-pad, it feels just as sloppy and unresponsive as the 360 d-pad and the buttons are squishy. Plus it's a brick compared to most modern controllers. It's hard to hold if you have smaller hands.

1200 points seems like a lot for such an old game, that's like £12? I don't think i'll be buying it for a while.

@ShimodaNexus: I prepared myself for the summer of fighters right before SF4 came out and got a hori real arcade pro ex for the 360 off amazon for $120. Modded it with sanwa buttons and its worked like a charm since. Even without the sanwa buttons, it still works great. Guess I'm just anal about it.

@Syrax: Well, considering the only good version of MvC2 was on the Dreamcast and that it averages a good £50+ to get a copy in good condition, 2100 MS point is bloody generous tbh, plus it comes with online play as a bonus.

@Mokon: it's a nifty trick that's available in most emulators for years. Yet, SNK has no idea how to use it.

@stalin23: see, BlazBlue is a delicious game and I'm playing it like there's no tomorrow, but a crossover is still a crossover. BlazBlue is fast, but there's no one in there filling the screen with a Shinkuu Hadouken or 2-digit combos happening 30ft above the ground.

The last crossover readily available (aka. one that didn't require you to dust off a console) was... MvC2 on DC, almost a decade ago?

So yeah, MvC2 isn't like Sonic that you pick off just for nostalgia reasons. I'm coming back for it every now and then, and that's the first XBLA rom+emulator game I'm gonna do that.

I really hope the PSN version doesn't get delayed... I'm really itching to play this again... haven't played it since the Dreamcast and arcades versions. I used to kick ass in the arcades, which always got a surprise when the dude is getting his ass kicked by a 12 year old. I got a feeling there will be more of a challenge online though.... guess I'll have to change my Cable cheap-shotting ways...

In fact, they looked awful on my TV... paired with the crisp 3D rendered backgrounds it was just a horrendously bad graphical experience.

Why are people still hyped about this game? Haven't you had enough of scrubs? Did you not tire of seeing ? Are there no great new fighters available(BLAZBLUE, SFIV, soon: KoF XII)?

But thinking back, people had fun in this game. Truckloads of it. But I tell you, it won't last. You'll get tired of Magneto soon enough. The nostalgic feeling will soon wore off. And you'll end up wondering, why did I buy this game again?!

I need to find an appropriate controller for this. Playing Garou is almost hellish on the 360's d-pad, and the analog isn't accurate enough - I keep ending up JUMPING when I try to pull off moves.

Any recommendations?

@Syrax: I'm guessing it's the fact that it's Marvel (a collection of superheroes, who many of us adored as kids, some (like me) even now) fighting CapCom (a collection of classic fighterfigures and other videogame heroes).
