Meat Bun Doubles Up With DX, XXL

Missed out on some those fan-favourite Meat Bun tees introduced last year? A trio of bestsellers rise from their grave today, redesigned and reprinted as part of the Meat Bun DX line. Plus, there’s good news for the plus-sized.

Finally, after numerous requests, we’ve added roomier extra extra large sizes, so towering Fahey-proportioned types with a penchant for sporting their video game fandom on their sleeves can feel more comfortable. That includes the new stuff, like the Famicom-coloured Nintendo Four shout out and the newer, velvetier Agro Polo homage.

Attendees of the Kotaku E3 2009 party got a sneak peek at this stuff months ago, but our new stuff is now available to the general public at the online store. Have at it!

I have the Vega VS Balrog tshirt in the olive/gunmetal grey version with the red print. Really love it. And I still need to get the Silent Hill sigil shirt.
    WTG, Mike.

@Tyber_Zann: they sure did. must have sold out of most of the older ones.

and McWhertor: please make another run of the "Super Neo Mega Turbo" shirt and i promise to buy one in a heartbeat.

  • jackal888

I am interested. Thanks for the heads up about these awesome shirts.

  • Tyber_Zann

XXL FTW! And your prices are cheaper than I remember. Very nice.

However, I remember Meat Bun having a wider selection to choose from. Now, not so much.

  • k0d0s

balrog would destroy vega if this was SF4...gg making vega teh sux this time around :[

    hes my char forever tho

Hmmm, for the portly plus sizes? Best. Shirt. Everrrrr.

  • CheapyD

I bought the above pictured SF shirt at Kotaku's E3 party. Nice shirt!

  • KaneRobot

Ha, that SFC black shirt with the skeleton appears to be a takeoff of the old Misfits "Legacy of Brutality" shirt. The image link thing didn't work, but here's the pic: http://tinypic.com/r/21j4yrn/3

Don't drink beer anymore. Don't play video games anymore. Can you do it? I hate when they say that, like it's so easy.

  • CapnGeiger

@BubbleF**kingBuddy: I like it this way. This is a shirt that assigns the wearer a very specific place in the geek heirarchy. "I'm wearing a gaming tee, which makes me a little nerdy... But not nerdy enough to actually give two squirts about Street Fighter story continuity." It's almost a better T for the inaccuracy.

@helava: O don't think it really matters that it's McW's site. They give etsy & threadless and that other place free advertisement as well. Not to mention Arcade Mania (Bashcraft).

It doesn't make the products any better or worse knowing who made them. I'm normally all for righteous indignation, but for some reason, this doesn't bother me. Just my rather vague and inexplicable opinion...

Also I think Kotaku writers partially get paid on the number of clicks an article gets (hello, sensational headlines) so in a sense he's paying for the "ad" ......if it doesn't get clicked on as much, whereas he could've run "This just in.........Wii sucks!" and gotten 1000 hits.

That's assuming things still work the same with Gawker (see "Nick Denton pays") on google and look for the article with Darth Vader as the pic.

  • Kobun

@helava: Yeah, it makes me uneasy as well, but it's hardly the first time this has been posted nor is it made a secret that McWhertor is a co-owner of the company. Still, where does one draw the line? Ashcroft's spamming Arcade Mania here? Crecente's mentioning of his wife's novel with a link to buy? I just accept that this is and remains a blog and not to be held to the standards of a real newspaper or publication. I know anyone with his/her own website would definitely use it to promote his/her interests, and this isn't that far removed from that I think.

  • Chanure

Love the Yellow SF one but damned if I'm gonna pay 28 dollars (more than the tshirt) to ship it to me here in Ireland! EDIT: F*ck it I'll just buy another tshirt to make up for it! Damn me and my fashionable needs!

  • GohanGVO

@helava: To be fair, Kotaku sort-of regularly posts about purchasable non-software content such as figurines and custom creations. So, it is not completely without precedent.

Sometimes, though, it does go a bit far (*cough* the constant reminders of Arcade Mania a while back *cough*).

  • ADVENTURE.exe

@helava: He made everyone aware of this venture when he first went into it. I'm not concerned.

This is the question you're asking in a universe where Ryu can fight Ryu.

  • Dope Boy Hero

I swear to god, seeing that picture reminded me of the mess SF: The legend of Chun Li.
Vega was pointless. Seriously. If he was going to be beaten that easily he should've never been in the film lol. And he was that dude from black eyed peas, wtf.

  • helava

I know this may seem trivially silly, but it seems like a disclaimer be included about McWhertor & his involvement with Meat Bun.

Sure, Kotaku's a blog, but nominally, it covers "news" - this really blurs the line between news & advertisement which makes me sort of uncomfortable.

If I'm the only one, then whatever - but it seems like a simple (full disclosure: McWhertor = Meat Bun) sort of disclaimer would do the trick, and ensure that there's a clear distinction between articles and advertorials...

  • Juan José Méndez Gallardo

@Maverick: McWhertor is the owner I think.

I think it's okay he promotes his store in here, especially as it is related to games (and I've seen other video game related clothing in Kotaku, as well).

I just wish that Agro shirt was white with the logo in black =/ it'd be perfect for my medicine uniform :D

Every time I go to this site, it loads SO damn slow, like the server is in somebody's living room in China. Seriously guys, get a different hosting service already.

Also also, I know it's a blog and all that, but doesn't one of the Kotaku writers own Meat Bun? It feels like conflict of interest, to me, especially considering I never see stories about Meat Bun products anywhere else.

    Sorry to be a complainer.

  • Orionsaint

I can't log on to the site. What if you're 3x or 4x? You can have a hard time finding shirts.

There's obviously a higher position that has opened up in the Shadaloo organization. Both have the requiste requirements and resumes for the position, but it'd be too boring for the hiring manager to just pick one of them. So they must...

FIGHT IT OUT /muffled SNES Ogre Battle

  • Cogito

@BubbleF**kingBuddy: I'm more confused by the fact that it's sanctioned with a time and place. Weren't street fights... you know, impromptu things? Held on streets? I could be mistaken :)

Killer shirt nonetheless. My poor, poor wallet...

  • neonero

As cool as Meatbun is i think i prefer the video game clothing over at something like http://www.casuallyhardcore.net or http://www.jinx.com a lot more.

They should have made it a little funnier and had it Claw vs Boxer

  • Courteous_Gentleman

My Meatbuns are the pride of my wardrobe.

Still, I'd love to see some fresh designs once again, preferably something in the neighborhood of Megaman.

  • Dangeresque the Observer

@BubbleF**kingBuddy: Well, if you think about it, you'd have to be on speaking terms to organize a fight. Vega and Chun-Li are trying to KILL each other. That doesn't make for good sports. Vega vs. Balrog, though, would be a good, friendly competition. Probably.

  • Xenigma

@BubbleF**kingBuddy: In this case, it is far too awesome for sense to apply.

  • FISSIONMAILEDGF

@BubbleF**kingBuddy: I'm liking the Famicom themed one. Also, I love the classic Spongebob reference.

  • BubbleF**kingBuddy

Aren't Vega and Balrog allies at Shadaloo? Wouldn't Vega v. Chun-Li or Dhalsim v. Balrog make more sense?

  • Tyber_Zann

@laser beams: Seconded! That's the shirt I want! Good taste, sir.

  • Junpei_Iori

Great looking shirts, I wish there were more.
