Apparently this game was an album release + a game altogether. Can't wait to see what it is.

@Fernando Jorge: That WILL be the perceived motive but I had heard about this early this year, February...so that will likely only slip from the lips of naysayers.

An MJ game noone's heard about yet, but still scheduled for this year? I'm not optimistic - major titles scheduled for the coming holiday season have had lots of PR going already. If it was anywhere near finished and/or any good, I would have thought we'd have seen teasers already, possibly linked to the concerts.

Yeah, well the original story I read stated these platforms. I'm quessing it was more of a demographic choice than anything else, however, the new article makes no mention whatsoever of the PS2 or Wii and only sites the 360/PS3 as speculative platforms.

At this point it's anyone's game...but considering Sony owns the publishing rights to pretty much everything in the library after and including Thriller, I'd be surprised if there wasn't some legal barriers holding them from releasing on much other than Sony's platforms...

...then again it's a similar tale to Sony's own Ghostbusters property seeing release on other platforms. Time will tell...

The biggest problem with this game is gonna be people thinking its a cash in. Most won't have heard that the game was already in the works long before Michael died. Hopefully the general media will mention that the game was being completed because he would have wanted it that way. I look forward to seeing what the game will be all about.

I don´t get pissed at all at these rumors. Michael wasn´t an ordinary celebrity. It´s not like Soulja Boy is trying to get into games or 50 Cent. Michael was involved, as all of us know, on a good amount of games from a time that this media hadn´t the same attention as it does nowadays. He was a real gamer and deserves to have his new game completed. I think it´s a good idea!

i dont recall if id read a solid connection there or not, but that's what id assumed. thinking about it, Kobun's answer there is just as plausible.

@KaneRobot: I believe "Another Part of Me" is used just because if you were to look at the arrangement for "Thriller," you'd see that simple baseline and sparse melody would make a poor fit when ported to the console's synthesizer. That said, the chorus of "Thriller" does appear in the game during some dancing attacks.

Would love to see more like a game Moonwalker instead of a rockband game.

But this time, play "Thriller" when your in a graveyard instead of "beat it".

@Szin: Well, moreso than any legal and copyright splitting hairs, Moonwalker is most likely stalled due to Sega's own stupidity in generally doing what the fans want, would print money, and otherwise make sense. I think at best we can hope for a Moonwalker-like game, but the Cortera page listing MJJ Productions as having a staff of five at most doesn't give me high hopes for this future Michael Jackson game. Assuming nothing is being contracted out, maybe this is going to be an XBLA/PSN release in which case we may just end up with a sort of Moonwalker sequel.

Heard about this long before MJ passed. I'm hoping it DOES come out but I also fear it will be seen as nothing more than a cash-in. Last I heard it was in development for the PlayStation 2, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation 3. Hope this is still spot-on as I'd likely pick it up for PS3.

Also, SEGA really should consider releasing the Arcade and Genesis version of Moonwalker on Xbox Live, the Wii Shop's Virtual Console, and on the PlayStation Network.

I miss the man already and would love to see some long overdue recognition for this genius of a man.

I am asking myself if that Game would have got a "This Holiday release" aswell if he didnt passed away. In other Words.. after he died, everebody its trying to make money out of it.. very sad.

Either way, the fact they're getting it out at Christmas is a bit of a coincidence, I reckon.. @Lucasreis: I second that. I get the sense that Mr. Jackson was a huge champion of gaming and it was a way to recoup the loss of his childhood in some small way. It seems that he really got the fact that gaming was a way to entertain one's self in a way that sometimes produces child-like glee. It may be a weird example, but when I play GTA and other open world games like it, I really get a sense of innocence about the whole experience. Laughing and giggling at the various scenarios that I and others tend to create. I know that sounds like I'm being facetious, but I'm not at all.

Despite it being in production for several months, it will no doubt be seeing as trying to profit off of the man's death, when it seems pretty clear that this is not the case. And not to sound morbid, but it may do for this game what Heath Ledger did for The Dark Knight - sell it like crazy. Of course, Dark Knight was also really good, which helped...

I'm going to take a leap here and say it's not a fully 3-D, high-production game, but something smaller, maybe for DS?

Michael was truly one for getting his fingers into many different pies. I can only imagine this would be some sort of "dance like michael game" maybe a dance dance clone or something.
The thing is, this would have sold millions even if crap, now, with the Jackson overdrive at full power im not sure it will be fully appreciated in 6 months time after everyone is sick of cash cow being squeezed!

I would have to say a custom DDR Michael Jackson game seems more logically feasible since any guy with half a nut couldn't possibly hit Michael's high notes properly for Rock Band or Guitar Hero.
