Nintendo Buys A TV Show

Each half our period has 8 minutes of commercials, approx. So the ratio is usually 22min of program per half hour.

And I'm assuming you guys don't have video game tv shows like we have with G4 and such.

There was a Nintendo TV Show in Mexico some years ago, it was called Nintendo-mania and it was all about Nintendo games so I dont see why this is such a big event

Eh, the TV is dying off anyways. Good shows get cancelled, bad shows somehow get renewed and keep going (IMO at least). Since the digital switch I've lost 2 channels on my TV and haven't bothered turning it on. There's no reason for me to. Unless I'm busy playing a video game.

The Internet rules the world now- thanks to YouTube, Hulu and other sites that host TV shows on demand. I can watch shows with little or no ads interrupting and I don't mind one bit. I just wish TV shows would start doing that.

@AncientUnknown1: I would kill for that law on Mexico. Some programs are literally ads themselevs. Hell we have Coca-Cola shows whith giant coca-cola banners and giant coca-cola walls.

Yep, it's okay to show tits and willies on TV here in the UK, but definitely no product placement. Except, as some have stated, they're foreign made programmes.

Here in Australia, we used to have a game-show where the last round was a competition to see who could get the most coins in Super Mario Kart or Super Mario Bros. 3 in a set time limit. I'm pretty sure there was a similar Donkey Kong Country round with bananas.
It was lazy, but it was great television.

This reminds me of the time when Sega was sued because commercials aired with Honey Nut Cherios wiht Sonic the Hedgehog toys in the box. Problem was, they aired during The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. A big nono.

@Cheebahawk: Thank you. I have said the same thing for a long time, and I have always lived here in the US. The only person that needs to mention medicines is my doctor. If my doctor doesn't think it will help me, then no commercial is going to change my mind. Not sure I ever went to a doctor and said "Hey doc, what do you think about "insert random drug"? I hear from TV it might help me with my "insert random problem".

@Fordio: i don't know about Dominik Diamond. i used to enjoy him on game master but recently he's come across as an arrogant toss pot on any show i've seen him on.

Were shows like Transformers, Pokemon, Ghostbusters, etc all illegal there too as they literally are commercials.

@trunkenmath: I've been to the US 5 times and when I've been unlucky enough to catch some TV I've been so utterly appalled I had to turn it off.

The US produces some of the best television programs but the way your channels work is so, so horrible, plastered with adverts and a 15 minute show gets stretched to 30 minutes. Also, advertising medicine, that's just wack yo.

BBC is better- no adverts on any of their many channels at any time or the HD channels...even on their radio stations. not a single glib prick trying to sell you a brand new neccesity.

@John-irl: Which made it all the more ridiculous when the GT Acadamy show was on. It was made and sponsored by Sony, yet every Sony and PlayStation logo was blurred out. The same will happen here I imagine.

A Wii challenge would of been funny. They could of called it Pain Tolerance or Mental Strength. A big bloke with a Wiimote in his fist would swing his arm back until it connects with the contestants face. Then repeat until the contestant either falls unconscious or says they give up. Whoever has the highest amount of 'connects' will win.

@Showmeyomoves!: Yep. British TV banned product placement in shows made in the UK (shows imported from other countries can do it). Shows can also be sponsored and show the brand pre and post show and at commercial break intervals but not be in the show itself.
