Same here. I've been really excited for the whole development of this game. I picked up the demo and was flabbergasted. They tell me to go over to the box and get my rifle...but didn't tell me which box and the waypoint was completely unhelpful.

That's not my favorite part though. When I got to the heavy weapons range, while I was talking to the instructor he got gunned down mid-sentence, with me following shortly after. Guess the scripting on the 'insurgents' in the little village is a little messed up.

@CockroachMan: I too bought Fallout 3 (steam) and SF4 (retail). I was debating buying Trine but decided to wait for the inevitable weekend sale since I already have a ton of games to play.

@Trygle12 is FREE!... and waiting for Disgaea 2: I have the retail version and it uses Games for Windows Live. I don't know if I can register it with Steam like you can do with Valve games. Does the Steam version use GFWL too? If so what's your gamertag?

@octalass: I'm with you on this. I just finnished the campaign last night and the time it took me to play it through must've doubled because of reverting to fight through bugs rather then gameplay challenges.

But I also agree with MasterDex. Having played OFP and ArmA I pretty much expected bugs from the getgo.

I kinda hoped that they would have it down this time around.

overlord II is genius!! hilarious game pre ordered sf4 still waiting for the game to unlock so much bullshit! 9 hrs to go!! god glad to see it there though, this way capcom will release more games on pc, go capcom!

@octalass: At release, Flashpoint was unplayable, so yeah, give it a month or two.

Right when I thought Counter-Strike (of any kind) was going to be off the charts. People still buying that game. Shows the popularity of the game.

I don't remember ArmA I or Flashpoint being this buggy. Then again, I did buy those months after they were released

@Rozzlit: I regret buying ArmA2. I understand the complexity of what they've done with the game, but technical achievements aside, the game has terribly clunky controls, stange graphics, and just overall unfun gameplay. I'm in the military and, let me tell you, even the boring training we do is more fun then this game. ArmA2 did not get the thrill of combat right.

@octalass: I couldn't make it through the demo. Between waypoints not showing up, weird character clipping, and broken interactivity with the environment, I just couldn't get into it.

As for the voice acting, it really sounds like they remembered they needed voice work the day the beta released so 2 guys ran into a closet with a Radioshack mic and a cassette recorder.

I really wanted to like Arma II since I'd heard good things about the first one, but I just could not get into it.

I can't recall a single sandbox game that wasn't bugged too hell at release though.

I am so disappointed that I bought Fallout 3 from Steam. I jumped on the 1/2 off, and I get a game that crashes whenever I'm in combat, using vats, or sometimes talking to people. I knew going in there was launch issues with Fallout but seriously, it's been 8 months.

@RockyRan: I think I'm interested in The Sims 3 because I skipped 2 entirely. I preordered the first Sims though, and its first expansion pack.

@octalass: You don't play many open ended games do you? "Glitched to shit" is a quite common status of the larger open games. Has been since the old school CRPG days when those were the only open ended games you could get your hands on.

Until these charts have real statistics next to them, the rankings mean nothing. We need to put Steam and direct download sites to the same accountability we place other sales charts. I mean, shouldn't it be easier, since they come from one source?

@-MasterDex-: I really hope so. I bought ArmA1 on the fact that it was OpFlash team. It turned out to be awful at launch. The sad part was the non-offical patches to fix the game came out quicker then the real ones. This game seems to have launched at a WORSE state, and i really dont want to be screwed over twice in a row...

Also, it has some of the worst voice acting I have ever heard. It's so bad it actually affects the gameplay. Hopefully it's just placeholder.

I'll check back next patch and give it another try.

I might understand if EA wanted to delay the digital release of their games, but why the hell do they put their games on Steam AFTER putting them on D2D?

@octalass: Pretty much. In fairness though, a good portion buying it are Arma players already so they know what they're getting themselves into. Like the first game, Bohemia Interactive will tidy it up and make it a gem of a game.

I can't believe the scores and praise ArmAII is getting, before I get flamed, I am a big OpFlash 1 fan, and a massive Delta Force 1-LW fan, so I love me a hardcore game, but the game is just beyond shoddily made.

Case and point, first mission had my teammates split up and run to flank a structure, an enemy in a tower about 2k away was picking them off one by one, so the 2nd squad that went around the otherside, decided it was a good idea to run back and try to "revive" the dead teammates, only to get wiped out. so alone with an m4, had to abort. 2nd attempt on the mission, the entire team stormed the village only to be mowed down by the same guy with an MG.

Don't get me started on the impossibily bad save system. I was shot, lying on the ground, about 5secs from death "Checkpoint Reached" wow, fantastic!

Then there is the crashes, the graphic glitches, and the framerate...

As for the good, the mission maker seems wicked, so does the gun and vehicle details, and the expansive maps that have more "character" then the generic terrain in DF/OpFor

This game needed more time to cook, it feels like ArmA but more detailed, but more buggy and less polish (if u can imagine)

I'm kinda missing the NPD sales. It balances out the other 2. Atleast there's still monthly sales...

They still do monthtly NPD sales, right?

Jeez, Sims 3 didn't really top the charts at all. Is it just me or is the whole Sims craze wearing a bit thin? Because every other person I hear (both IRL and on the interwebz) says "I'll hold off on it" or "Not interested" whereas every Sims 2 expansion was like "ZOMG NU EXPANSION MUST GET NAO!"

Personally for me, my interest in the series dropped sharply shortly after The Sims 2 was released. Something about micromanaging each sim to do chores and homework hit a little too close to home for me. I know the micromanagement part about it was supposed to be gone for TS3, but IMO it was too little too late. It's very surprising to see it only on 3rd place.

Then again, I'm sure it's the retail sales that are trumping everything.

I can't believe they're actually charging money for ArmA II.

it's so buggy, it doesn't even qualify as "finished". Everyone is pretty much buying a beta version.

@Shiloa: Pffft, they deserve the full $30. It's a better game than pretty much any full console release for the entire month/last couple of months.

ArmA 2 is probably getting a boost because boxed copies don't seem to be widely available at retail (all the places I called pegged the ship date as tomorrow, june 7th/09).

And yes, it seems like it's a pretty hardcore sim, which is good if you're into that sort of thing, and terrible if you're not.

It's nice to see SFIV already sneaking into the charts. I'll be getting it this week myself.

Arma II is doing pretty well it seems. I just wish they'd release a patch that fixes Manhattan.

Has anyone played Overlord II? Is it much the same as the first game or is there significant changes/additions to warrant a purchase?
