Red Faction: Guerrilla DLC Covers New Ground
Another victor for Martian guerillas today, as THQ announces three packs of downloadable content for Red Faction: Guerrilla, beginning with Demons of the Badlands, which takes players to an all-new section of the Martial landscape.
Of course the new areas included in August’s Demons of the Badlands DLC are still a rather coppery colour, but the action is guaranteed to be fresh. Demons is a destructive single-player story arc that takes the players outside of the boundaries set in the main game. Hopefully there’s a great deal of content stuffed into the pack, as it will set you back 800 Microsoft Points or $US9.99 when it hits on August 13th for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
No word yet on what the other two DLC packs will consist of, but I’m hoping that at least one is multiplayer focused, as multiplayer is where I felt the most fun in the game is to be had. Fingers crossed!

Love this game. I hope the new area is jam packed with Demo Master missions.
The mplayer is incredible, that really surprised me. Wish more people would find this game. Wasn't even on the top 10 xbox live list...
CMcCon342
Oh yes, I love singleplayer DLC, more games should do it!
Grind_Axis
@DannyTrabajo: I hate that you will still have to download the extra stuff before the PS3 will let you play online multiplayer... even if you don't buy it and get to use it. What's the point in this? You should not need to download dlc just to play your own game

@Southrncomfortjm: Except the destruction is exponentially greater than BF:BC's destruction.
High price. On the other hand, excellent game. Hmmm...
No mention of the PC version... Did they forget that they were making the game on PC?

nice...
I'd like more "umph" to my Nano rifle, please!

@Commander Shepard:
Right...please don't degenerate this discussion into "noob/suck" territory. It's juvenile and really doesn't have a place here.
The single player campaign of the game took me about 12-15 hours to play through, not including collecting ore/radio tags/EDF containers etc. For $60, that's not much gameplay. Multiplay, again, doesn't count towards that, as people will play the multiplayer component of a game dozens of hours over the single player campaign.
Games don't have to include everything, but they do have to include enough to make the purchase worthwhile to the consumer. Red Faction is a great game that does all this, but I would have preferred it longer, with a cooperative single player campaign and an Onslaught-esq mode for the multiplayer component involving at least 24 players and vehicles.
Back to the original point, for $10, I expect several hours of original gameplay, not just a new zone with a bunch of the game's standard relatively boring mission types. That's, you know, at least 3-5 hours of new content.
And for the record, Plants Vs Zombies is awesome. I've played it far longer than Red Faction.
@DannyTrabajo: thats nonsense. people might just skip the box step and start buying the game. they also might decide they wanna sell the box after using it.
clearly this box needs security measures. lets fill it full of drm and raise the price. and for the special edition we can include herpes to infect our loyal customers.
abort_user
@DannyTrabajo: I just wanna put my two cents in here. I have no problem when DLC is done correctly. Fallout, and Red Faction I think have done DLC correctly since it adds new experiences to the game aside from what's already on the disc. However I do get pissed off when I see DLC like the epilogue to Prince of Persia. When I saw that I had pay to get the END of the game; I felt the need to slap a fucker at Ubisoft.
Maybe they could even make a way for us to save while using cheats in our second playthrough. That would be so much more fun even if achievements were locked. Please THQ lets make our new game + be more + then new game
Raab
Paying for single player content..... No.
Adding some more maps, maybe bigger games and some server fixes to stop the lag when theres only 18 people...
how about a fix to the game auto start when theres not a full game like Resistance does.. thats annoying

@THEMISSING: I got lucky and managed to get into the multiplayer beta test a while back and based my decision off that. I figured even if single player wasn't any good I could have fun with the Rhino pack :)
Raziel66
@Mad-Hobo:
Have you played any of the Saints Row games? Its the same developers. Have you played any past Red Faction games? This one is like the third person freeform version of it.
@Commander Shepard: I applaud you for trying to play it off as sarcasm when your other posts in this thread in reply to people who are not happy with the DLC coming so quickly after the game are:
"Tired bitch is tired.
Give it a break. Gaming isn't a charity it is a business.
Thanks for your insightful reply made by everyone else. Feel free to keep commenting in threads where you have no interest in getting the product."
It takes a special kind of dumb to think people will suddenly believe your sarcasm angle. Ballsy though.
@DannyTrabajo: ...what? Where do you see in the post that the only new content will be a few vehicles and a new costume? There's no word yet on how substantial the DLC is going to be, besides saying a whole new area will be opened and that it will cost ten bucks. You can't reasonably say that you don't like having the DLC because it is an "incremental addition" when you don't actually /know/ what is going to be in it. If it were a new skin and a weapon, yeah, be pissed all you want. However, it certainly seems to me that RF:G is a pretty expansive game, and saying that the company that made it was just looking for more cash by removing some content and making people pay outrageous sums...well, that argument has no evidence for it.
At least not yet. (Although I doubt it will)
Gungnir
@DannyTrabajo: You are all incredibly rage for people who don't care.
This DLC is not justified. Four bikes and a new costume for Gerald is content that should be included in release.
DannyTrabajo
@Commander Shepard: You're really being rotten.

@Commander Shepard: "God you think mighty high of yourself don't you".
lol, no I'm not God but why yes I do think highly of myself, thank-you!
"Hey what does God look like from the top of that high horse?"
God's black and she's a woman.
"I wasn't aware I should preface every statement with some sort of tag. I'm not making blog posts here, tags aren't required."
No, its not required, which is why I said it would be much appreciated. If you want to be taken seriously in any context, you would want others to interpret your statements correctly, right? Why leave it to the weakness of the written word? Take the extra two seconds to make sure your meaning is conveyed correctly or don't and get called out for something you, apparently, didn't mean. Writing anything, is of course, at your peril.
"It was sarcasm and to your point if $10 is breaking your bank then yes get a new hobby. You obviously need to focus on other things."
No, ten dollars doesn't break the bank for me, but certainly $70 dollars is a lot to waste on entertainment for a lot of people. Flip it around, if you were mindlessly blowing $70 on new releases like haze, who has more sense? The guy who buys crap, or the one who has the focus, and the wherewithal to budget his money and rent the games he wants to try out? I would say that if you were as cash-conscious as our friend here who's smart enough to rent games instead of overspending, which, judging from our current economic state, many do, then those who buy crap for $70 solely for entertainment (and yet are not entertained), are the ones who should get their priorities straight.
"If you are looking for ignorant douche then find a mirror quick."
It was never my intention to actively go out and search for an ignorant douche; like most people, I just happen to stumble upon one.
I like the game, I'd love more game, they're offering me more game. The issue people have is... where?
Also, you whiners are right. Diablo 2: Lord of Destruction was totally not worth it and should've been included in the main product. What were they thinking, giving people more of what they liked and maybe getting a paycheck in the process.
Teira
@DannyTrabajo: your only choice instead of trolling about the issue and hoping that people that have already made up their minds about it follows you, is to actually start a petition on the issue and voice your opinions to the developers but.... not that there isnt things i dont agree with... its just that it a uphill battle your looking to fight and nobody brought guns.
@Raziel66: the game is an incredible surprise. wasn't on my radar at all until i played the multiplayer at a friends house. now it's all i play.
THEMISSING
@DannyTrabajo: the game is IMMENSE as it is. get over it. anyone who bought the game got plenty of value for their buck. if you don't want the extra DLC, don't buy it. nobody cares.

@dreadnought666:
You did a far better job of encapsulating what I was trying to say about going gold and how the DLC wasn't immediate.
@grampaspanky:
You can customize your character in all the MP but I get your point.
@grampaspanky:
Fun strategy as well. I had a VTOL drop onto a Tank like that. Quite satisfying.
@NeVeRMoRe666:
God you think mighty high of yourself don't you.
Hey what does God look like from the top of that high horse?
I wasn't aware I should preface every statement with some sort of tag. I'm not making blog posts here, tags aren't required.
It was sarcasm and to your point if $10 is breaking your bank then yes get a new hobby. You obviously need to focus on other things.
If you are looking for ignorant douche then find a mirror quick.
@DannyTrabajo: You're contradicting yourself.
This DLC is comporable to the first Fallout 3 DLC. Guerilla is also a huge game and the expansion seems to be a fully packed add-on to the campaign that is released 2-3 months after the games initial release. Like I said in one of my first posts, Guerilla went gold way before it was released and the development team at THQ has probably been working on this after completetion of the full game.
I love this game so much..
Stormgazer
@Atheist Jew:
Go play Plants VS Zombies then. You obviously are either a noob or suck at multiplayer if you are writing off what is at least 20 hrs of enjoyment.
No game can include everything. I think SP, MP, and Local CoOp are more than enough for $60 dollars.
I'm hoping it has vehicles too but not the moon and secret to eternal life like some people.
@Donovan Driver: You know, I didn't agree with the whole "don't buy it if you don't like it" argument until your comment made me think about it. Although I would rather prefer free DLC (wouldn't we all), I think I can live with the DLC that's provided. Most of it is only extra and never really adds on to the main story in any way. I can completely live with that. If people want to pay for extra missions and costumes, I think that's ok. If they start charging for stuff crucial to the game, then I think I can start to get up in arms.
@Andrew Heitz:
Got ya. I was wondering why I liked the 2nd paragraph so much more.
@DannyTrabajo:
The thing is that it is not immediate. It will be over 2 months since release and if you knew a damn thing about publishing then you would know the game was finished and had gone gold 2 months prior to release. 4 Months is not immediate and probably right for design and coding using existing art and architecture.
Have you played RFG? The areas they are talking about aren't walled off by an imaginary boundary. There are freaking mountains in the way. This game was done and finished prior to the DLC.
This DLC is not incremental it is a whole new area and campaign. It is not SFIV costumes or the Tomb Raider ending.
@Roufuss: The first one was 800 points. The second was 560. The third was free. So definitely not `800 a pop`
FrozenBabylon
@grampaspanky: You make a good point. Heck, with his logic and the basic premise of DLC, one could throw Majoras Mask into a pot and argue that it should have been a free expansion to Zelda OoT.
But thats just silly....
Andrew Heitz
@Commander Shepard: Actually, it does. $10 is a lot of money,
You know what else costs $10? Plants Vs. Zombies, Zeno Clash, Evil Genius, Tachyon: The Fringe (with BRUCE CAMPBELL!), Stalin Vs. Martians, etc etc.
So, again, for $10, there better be several hours of gameplay with that. Additionally, in terms of gameplay, multiplayer does not factor in to that estimate. It never has, and it never will, unless of course we're talking about Cooperative multiplay, which the game sadly doesn't have. A person could theoretically spend dozens of hours playing the game over multiplay, but does that factor into the actual amount of gameplay contained within the game? No.
Also Wrecking Crew sucks. How about co-op instead?
What I'm really hoping for is that one of the DLC packs include a gameplay type which takes place on a larger map with more people and vehicles.
@Commander Shepard: So either 9 or 12 then? Does mommy know you're on the internet talking to strangers? :p A sarcasm tag would have been much appreciated. I'm 22, I'm by no means old nor do I lead an exceedingly harsh life. But I'm well aware of how the rest of the world is, and a statement of your caliber is unjustified in any context. As sarcasm, it wasn't particularly funny, nor witty. As a true statement, well then you would just be an ignorant douche. Which is it?
@Bialia:
@DannyTrabajo:
Shameless? That's purely subjective. It's the entertainment industry and it thrives off capitalism. You know, those who like to throw their money at it? If you don't like the idea, don't buy into it. Simple enough, right?
Donovan Driver
@DannyTrabajo: What happens if they can't fit it on the disc? It costs money to put stuff of up XBLM and PSN so they have a reason to charge for it.
I assume you hate being charged for RB/GH songs too?
@Commander Shepard: Yes, the entire 1st paragraph was sarcasm.
Andrew Heitz
@Commander Shepard: Kudos, sir...you beat me to the rant.
grampaspanky
Some people seem to forget that game development is a BUSINESS. I'm amazed that some of these companies still bother to produce quality DLC for so many spoiled brats who, instead of being thankful that they even get new content so soon, just shit all over the people hard at work to entertain them.

@NeVeRMoRe666:
Your off by 6 years on either the 15 or 18 part. I don't have kids.
FYI I was being sarcastic for the most part. I wasn't expecting an old man rant about his adult responsibilities. I don't give a damn what your personal circumstances are.
@Commander Shepard: Personally I like to Nanoforge one of the wings off for a crowd-pleasing, tumbling crash.
grampaspanky
@Commander Shepard: You haven't even read my posts correctly. I never said I hated all forms of DLC, in fact if you were able to comprehend the first post of the thread I said "immediate premium DLC".
The Fallout DLC, for instance, is entirely justified and warranted. The game itself is huge and the expansions have also been fully-packed. It's little incremental additions like this which should have been included in release.
DannyTrabajo
@SaanZ: Criterion did it right with BP
@Commander Shepard: Sorry, I wasn't aware that gaming was exclusively only for the rich and the wealthy. Take that poor people and those with only moderate incomes! You're NOT allowed to have FUN!!
Let me guess, you're 15-18 years old? I'm lucky because I'm relatively well off, but I'm well aware that the rest of the adult world has bills to pay, dental, healthcare, property taxes, mortgages, putting kids through school, food, electricity, mutual funds, RRSPs, Pensions and other assorted bits and pieces that take a bite out of whatever is brought home. So, ol'noble sire, excuse the peasants if they would rather drop $5 dollars to enjoy a game they are iffy about than $70 on a gamble that it will be worth their while.
@DannyTrabajo: There is absolutely nothing wrong with DLC done right. In the "old days," we used to call them Expansions. Would you lump Starcraft:Brood War in with your rant against DLC? If so, you need to check your sense of entitlement.
I'm not going to argue that there exists DLC content that is little more than a cash grab. I think we all agree on that point. To say that it's all a scam is naive at best.

Sarcasm??
I'm confused by that last sentence.
People complaining about paying for extra levels for the games they like are insane.
"They are making extra content for a game you like", you don't have to buy it, and it's NOT easy for them to just put it in the game.

@SaanZ:
Only game that DLC is kicking out of playing is Halo 3.
You don't need maps for Gears 2, you don't need them for COD4 or WAW.

He's just a giant douche whose dad owns a dealership and pays for everything so he has no concept of money.
@DannyTrabajo:
Wow good comeback bro.
I never said to unquestioningly do anything. The whole point of my post was choice. Your ability to be a cheap ass and mine to have discretionary income.
@Commander Shepard:
Very misguided and misinformed sense of superiority a problem here?
SaanZ
@R_Shackelford:
Nothing would beat driving a dumptruck with 3 of your team mates into a building. Shooting through barricades and then blowing up the truck while everyone jumps out.
Like that scene in The Siege but without needless death and the terrorism bit.
@CoatedTrout:
I'd prefer it be FREE.
SaanZ
@DreamDivision: Let's see some multiplayer vehicle maps. This game SCREAMS for vehicle MP.
R_Shackelford
@Commander Shepard: You replied to the wrong person.
@DannyTrabajo: You're absolutely correct. Why can't developers go back to creating games to sell once, and then continue to provide new content to the players for free. I mean, come on. DLC is the same graphics/models/music/programming just rehashed, so development costs should be like, $100. It's not like salary or hourly wages are actually factored into developmental/distribution costs./s
DLC has had a foothold for quite a while in this industry, and the "wait, I have to pay for DLC" argument is terribly and annoyingly old. Go mow some lawns if DLC costs too much for you.
Andrew Heitz
@Commander Shepard:
DLC kind of IS being forced on people, map packs that cost money exclude players from multiplayer, story's have loose plot threads that get answered in DLC you shouldnt have had to pay for.
It sucks to pay $100 to experience all the content in a single game.
One of the only company's that HAS done paid DLC right is Rockstar with the GTAIV packs as they're releases are just about shorter standalone games, and they're even hearty enough for a retail release with the DLC packaged together SEPERATE from GTAIV.
DLC doesnt suck, but paying for it does $30 for add ons is horrible, it just makes me wait until all the DLC is on a disc before I buy it.
SaanZ
@Commander Shepard: Wow, are you being sarcastic?
Bialia
@Commander Shepard:
you witty bastard you.
But you got it right, blowing stuff up really mixes up multiplayer.
The mechanic of being able to blow up anything and everything works so well. Its awesome. Get it.
@Kouzmanoff:...but it sucked just as much. I place the SR2 DLC firmly in horse armor territory as far as value. I have little faith that the Red Faction DLC will be any more compelling.
From what I can see, it looks like some cosmetic changes to existing vehicles and perhaps a couple more pointless raider melee weapons. It's not as if you can customize your character with those spiffy raider outfits. That said, I'm happy to see more action in the criminally underutilized Badlands area but $10? I'll wait for reviews.
grampaspanky
@DannyTrabajo: THQ makes a great game, with a lengthy single player campaign, excellent online multiplayer, and a fun, pass-the-controller offline multiplayer mode, and people STILL complain when they put out DLC for the game TWO MONTHS AFTER ITS RELEASE? Wow. Just, wow. There really is no pleasing some people. This is NOT the case of a 7 hour game with DLC that was obviously pulled out of the retail copy to gauge consumers. This is obviously THQ going "Wow, people really liked our game, so let's give them some more".
Some_Guy2
@Commander Shepard: So, it's made from me? Oh God! Red Faction: Guerrilla is PEOPLE!!!
@Ackers rhymes with Crackers:
Please give me 100,000 XP!
I think this game is still a little new for a DLC worth 800 points.
I feel it'll either be cut and paste environments made on the cheap, super short, or taken out of the game to sell back later.
AtticusSP
@CoatedTrout: I would have, yes. I'd rather buy a full product and have the gaming media scrutinise it accordingly (in some cases games have been forgiven for potential DLC e.g. L4D).
The point is though that we don't know that they did this over the past few months. How is it implausible that this was developed alongside the rest of the game?
DannyTrabajo
@Donovan Driver:
This.
Danny "Trabajo" is an ironic name since you must not value hard work.
@Donovan Driver: Do you hear that everyone? If you criticize shameless opportunistic business practices like near-immediate DLC, you're a communist.

@DannyTrabajo:
Yes, because you know for certain that the content was finished before the game was released.
Developers don't always have the time or money to put the stuff in, paid DLC solves that. Would you like them to delay the game each time they have some unfinished content?
Red Faction is worth $60 already. If you don't think so them why the hell would you buy the DLC?
@Mad-Hobo:
Plays like an awesome 3rd person game with jetpacks, kick ass MP and SP, and unmatched destruction.
No fence to sit on. I already bulldozed it with my hammer.
@TearsandScreams: There's a good reason for that. RF:G offers some new toys over the first two that really change the way you look at buildings in an open-world game.
@Ken Hikari:
Tired bitch is tired.
@Atheist Jew:
Already over 30 in the retail disc when you combine multiplayer and singleplayer. Not to mention Wrecking Crew.
I'm sure the game doesn't owe you much more than that.
@UltimatePancakeSensation:
Go chill in Oasis. It is green as can be.
@DannyTrabajo: Anticipate? It's here already, pal. Go "buy" GTA:TLAD or Fallout 3: Point Lookout. Gamestop will sell you a box with a gift card in it. I've seen it.

Some of you people must think THQ and other Devs make game as some sort of public service. IT IS A BUSINESS!
Buy it or don't I don't care.
Your enjoyment of Red Faction wouldn't have changed one bit if you hadn't known about the DLC. This game is awesomsauce, and more of it is welcome.
If you people had your grubby downtrodden ways games would take 5 years to come out ala Blizzard because if something can't make it in the game then push it back because otherwise "BAAAAH WAAAAH DLC SHOULD HAVE BEEN ON THE DISC".
People don't buy DLC because they are idiots (unless its a 100Kb code ala RE5 or Wolverine), the vast majority do it because they enjoy the game.
God you irrational anti-DLC people are ridiculous.
DLC isn't being forced on anyone. It's like people who still argue Vinyl should be standard for records because they are audiophiles.
WAKE UP the world has passed you by! Gaming is like any other recreational activity, wherein the more money people have to spend on it the more they will.
If you cheap bastards don't like DLC well then it's like buying the most basic skateboard or fishing pole. You like things simple, that is cool. By god though if I can buy a top of the line product after market with all the bells and whistles then I will.

I want ostrich hammer!
I enjoy the game quite a bit, but $10? There better be several hours of gameplay there for that price.
@Roufuss: Totally agree.
@njd09: There's no regulation in this. There is absolutely nothing to stop devs going through a game prior to publishing and removing content to be sold back at a later date.
Anyway "don't like, don't download it" isn't a real argument because even if I don't buy it, a lot of people will. The DLC does well, people realise it's an easy way to make money, and hey, DLC gets forced upon people.
DannyTrabajo
@DreamDivision: I could try and agree with you more, but I'm not sure thats possible.
This game is awesome, period.
I would like it if some of the DLC could have more...elaborate, non-red/grey dusty areas. But I'm not holding my breath. :)
@darkos87: 2+ months after launch isn't exactly right after launch.
This game is fun, glad to see support coming in a few months.
@DannyTrabajo: I personally don't have a problem with that gap. Maybe it's because I have some extra cash to throw around for DLC (I don't mean to sound arrogant, that's just the way it is...wait), or maybe it's because it actually looks as though they were working on this stuff after the game was done. Guerilla went gold way before it's release date so they have probably been hard at work on this stuff since then. RE5 definitely botherred me though because it was very apparent that the DLC Capcom offered could have and should have been included in the game.
@Colonel Burnill: Newegg.com has the 360 version for $40 w/ free shipping and no tax.
omyard
@LordBling: I find that a lot of people have trouble with the game because, to sum things up succinctly, they play the game wrong.
In Red Faction you are not a bad ass; you are a fairly weak, outnumbered guy who, true to the name, must use guerilla tactics (sneak attacks, hit and run, etc) to complete most missions.
@grantanamo: Do agree there, since basically stealth in the game was slightly non existant which is a bit unfortunate.
@LordBling: Yeah the only real PITA was the last level.
Basically with the game you cant play it like how you normally play other action based third person shooters and gotta think out what you want to do.
Also as in the title Guerrilla tactics is what will keep you alive with doing a lot of hit and run instead of trying to slug it out with the never ending supply of troops.
I really think thats why the devs gave the player quite a slim stock of ammo they can carry for most weapons.
@DannyTrabajo: If you don't like it, don't download it. The game was great as is, if you want it to be even better, pay. Sheesh. Buy a PC if you want free DLC.
njd09
I hate when devs release DLC so quickly after their title is out, it's like... why didn't you include it in the first place in the disc?
@TearsandScreams: Forgot to mention if you get and dont like the demo, then the chances of you not liking SP is high.
@TearsandScreams: Just go get the demo.
This is nothing like the other two anyways since its in the third person and plays a lot different. Its just structures / items that is able to be destroyed and not the actual landscape itself.
@dreadnought666: Doesn't mean it's acceptable though, does it?
I anticipate the day where we buy an empty box and pay to download the game when we get home.
DannyTrabajo
@LordBling: I made that mistake, but even more-so by playing it on Hard. Lord, I nearly threw my controller about a hundred times. Although I felt quite rewarded at the end for sticking with it. I def. feel like I missed out on the destruction aspect though. I never had time to elaborately set up mines to destroy buildings. It was always: rocket, rocket, nano forge, nano forge, run like hell to the safe house.
grantanamo
@Mad-Hobo: Its pretty fun. Think the destruction of Battlefield Bad Company mixed with some GTA action mixed in, but the environments are bland.
$10 bucks is rather extreme for a new area. For that much they better be adding 10 hours or more of gameplay.
RF:G came out in the beginning of June, the DLC is supposed to drop in August. So about two months. RF is a pretty robust game on its own, so I'm actually looking forward to the DLC. I wished they'd do something like Crackdown's key to the city though.
DeannaCaballerial
@LordBling: I beat it on Normal without any problems. The very last mission was a bit rough and took a few tries, but that was about it.
I know that this current generation of consoles thrive on micro transactions, but is it really that difficult to put these things in the game before shipping them off to the public?
I don't know, it just irks me that companies can ship a game, and with no less than a month later, charge 10$ for content that could of easily been placed in the game to begin with.
@dreadnought666: So it's a little over 2 months. That's not that bad. That's about the typical turn around time for big releases these days.
Im still sad that there were no flying vehicles for me to go crashing into things with. Still have not been successful with trying to "taze" the pilot in one of the VTOLS by being real up high on a mountain top when one is in the air.
@Kouzmanoff: I dont think "loyalty policy" is a right word. Since you stated it yourself that not much DLC is not free.
Its more the devs / publishers way to try and extend the said life of a title and make money at the same time.
@excel_excel: Ummm.......
"Hopefully there's a great deal of content stuffed into the pack, as it will set you back 800 Microsoft Points or $9.99 when it hits on August 13th for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. "
@UnHarmonicHamster:
EXACTLY. Rentals give the developer very little money, and used games give them _none_. Think of DLC like a "loyalty policy" to reward you for your purchase. Unfortunately not much DLC is free, due to the costs they take to develop and get pushed onto XBL/PSN.
DAMN CURRENT ECONOMIC CLIMATE HOLDING ME BACK FROM THE GREATS!!! I demo multiplayer alot though, lets hope this expands on it! :D!
Colonel Burnill
@DreamDivision: Good to see that Volition is supporting it well, too. Can't wait.
@Raziel66: Was thinking of getting this but im still on the fence - what does it play like?
Mad-Hobo
@dreadnought666: Well this is just a month after release.
@MDX:
Well, when you rent you don't give the developers anything so I guess its a part of the strategy.
UnHarmonicHamster
Maybe if I'd have played through the game on Easy instead of Normal, I wouldn't have gotten so frustrated with it.
I think it's great that they can offer single player content that seems to be extending the sandbox. To me that's more valuable than new multiplayer content.
El-Suave
As someone that likes to rent the majority of their games... DLC pisses me off.
MDX
Glad to see it doing well, I'm getting once I'm finished the games I need to finish!
@TearsandScreams: Well the first game was awesome, second one meh. This one is quite different though, and is worth a shot even if you weren't a fan of past games in the series.
Kamakazie
this game is amazing. i keep thinking about other games that would be even that much better with destructible environments, GTA being the most prominent. i seriously believe this should be a new standard
BTW Mike, I was completely shocked at how fun the multiplayer for this game is. A friend of mine was raving about it and I finally hopped in a server and was really pleasantly surprised. Quite a unique experience.

@VenomIreland: Good question, it must be on this weeks PSN update.
@Roufuss: Based on the general consensus that you've expressed, the second DLC pack for SR2 came out at $7.
@DannyTrabajo: 3 months after release isn't exactly immediate. I would say the Resident Evil 5 DLC was immediate and a problem.
Sweet I just freed Mars and was really itching for some more.
grantanamo
Awesome, can't wait for this!
Mad Max on Mars. ^^
Huh a lot of praise for this. I loathed the first two games with a vengeance, but seems that everyone is enjoying themselves on this one. Maybe I'll try it out.
Nice, immediate premium DLC. I love paying for a game I've already paid for.

@Michael Dukakis the stunned yet hopeful Mets fan: Red Faction has actually made almost all of my other games feel inferior now. I keep expecting walls to be blown up when i play games like Gears 2 or CoD 4, and they never do. I still love the play them, but when I shoot a rocket, I want to see shit fly everywhere.
Awesome looking-stuff. Speaking of DLC, when are us PS3 owners gonna get Operation: Anchorage? We were supposed to get them this month!
I don't have a lot of faith in THQ's DLC, especially after the very weak Saints Row 2 DLC also priced at 800 points a pop.
I hope I am proven wrong, however, as I loved Red Faction.
Nice. I Would be totally satisfied if this was the only game I could play for the rest of the summer. It's very hard to put down both offline on and on.
My goty just got better. Fantastic!
I wish more games would have destructible environments. I'm loving this game and BFBC was one of my favorite multiplayer games. It just fun to blow shit up and actually see damage. Just my opinion.
Day 1 purchase. One of the best games to come along in awhile.
DreamDivision
Oh hell yes. I am loving this game. Now that I just finished another semester I have some time to invest in Guerilla.
