Can you guess this old game from just one screenshot?
I’ll update this post with the answer at 5pm today if no one has guessed before then. Or if you do guess it before then, feel free to share your memories of a classic game.
Excellent work, Mr Cocks. I always knew you had a refined taste in games.
Doriath is one of those forgotten classics. The mix of exploration, platforming and combat was pitch-perfect. And I loved the spell system that left you rooted to the spot – and vulnerable to attack – while you were controlling the magical projectile you’d just conjured. This was one of those games I spent weeks mapping out on my way to solving it.
Did you realise that almost the entire eastern half of the world map was unpopulated, as if development had halted midway through?

Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 10:22 AMThere’s not nearly enough colour bleed for it to be a Spectrum game, it looks like a C64 game but I’ve got absolutely no idea what. Colour me stumped!

Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:55 AMOh man, I never finished that game until last month!
Even then I had to use the Doriath map to cheat.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 12:07 PMIt is in fact Doriath, I was never any good at it (seeing as though I played it when I was like 3 years old)
