Star Trek D-A-C Coming To PSN, PC
More than two months after the movie, that everyone’s now forgotten about, Star Trek D-A-C will arrive on the PlayStation Network, promising a new ship class and “updated gameplay features.”
That is according to a news release, but it couldn’t get any more specific about the release date than “late summer 2009.” The release also said it’s on the way “later this year” for the PC.
Fahey didn’t review the XBLA game well, so, I’m not sure that any additions it plans for the PSN version will be enough to pump up a basic top-down space shooter.

@Cupajo:
There are no such things as typo's only Bug's.
@PlayerX:
You will never get through submissions with those fail S's on the end.
Sure Go ahead and waist your money, Sonys just gonna send that back to ya, with a note that says Fix it.
@PlayerX: Far from the worst thing on my permanent record. That whole "sheep in women's underwear" thing will probably cost me more on a job interview.
@Cupajo: This typo is going on your permanent record. :P
@CRRRUNK ... ಠ_ಠ: What about the plural?
Is it PLAYSTATIONS®3? PLAYSTATON®3s?
@CRRRUNK ... ಠ_ಠ: For the record, it's called a typo. One I tried to correct right away, but the fantastic new commenting system here (Now with twice the glitches!) told me I only had 15 minutes to correct.
@Cupajo: Wow, looks like I touched a nerve. Simmer down, nerds! It was just a joke! I have (and enjoy) both consoles.
@Archaotic: Some factors to consider:
-Less competition on PSN
-Cost to port it may be minimal, ROI will be great
-These sorts of games don't cost a lot to make. Break even points for many is 30-50K units. If it sells only 20K on XBLA, it might get another 25K on PC and PS3 combined.
@Cupajo: Bringing you jokes that everyone else heard 2 years ago!
Abishai
well I for one want to play this, I am looking forward to this and will buy it Day 1 when it comes out on the PS3.
@Cupajo:
Playstations? you dumbass,
The compliant Term is PLAYSTATION®3
@Adam In Texas: Wow. I bought it in my Star Trek fever, but it's extremely mediocre and light on content compared to just about every other 800 point game out there.
@TheLivingLegend: Well, we should really leave it up to the moderators to sniff out the trouble makers. I usually don't pounce on anyone on the internet, but lately, I've been getting annoyed at people that espouse what are, to me, ridiculous "arguments" for or against owning a piece of electronic equipment.
I sympathize with your dilemma.
@PlayerX: I was preparing a ten paragraph post about how we all should get along, but I couldn't resist the temptation of the punchline. I disappoint myself.
@TheLivingLegend: I remember a time when people got a stern frown-and-lecture combo for fanboyism around here.
@MDX: Well, shoot, I'm just gonna run out and buy one right now! :P
@PlayItBogart: Your comment reminded me about how we used to have to wait at least a year for a movie to come out on VHS. Now, it's practically for sale on DVD when you exit the cinema.
There are no screens that I could find on that link; call me lazy if you want (hell, I'll do it for you,) but I don't feel like hunting around for them.
Also, what does D-A-C stand for? Delicious Apple Crumble?
I don't remember any news about this game coming out before now, either. Is it set in the same universe as the movie? Is it unrelated?
@Cupajo: Kotaku: Now attracting more ignorant fanboys than ever before!
@Cupajo: That's not true. . . no one played DAC.
kajillion
That's kind of bad news since the game sucked.

@MDX: More != better ;)
@Archaotic: Because DVD and blu-ray releases aren't hyped at all -_-
CreamSodaSlurpee
@Here's Some Weapons: I don't mind :)

@Gabe Newell the Fat Princess: 360 actually has more exclusives overall. Alot more.
MDX
@Cupajo: Microsoft: If you don't buy our console, we will pay people to keep you from playing video games.
Stardate, EIGHT SIX...nine....three...fourpointseven. The ENTERPRISE...can now be downloaded to your PS3...STRANGE...the timing of this is, the film having EXITED box offices....quitesometimeago. REMINDS ME GREAT...GREATELY...of the times when, L...JN...would release a game...yearsafterthemoviecameout.
@Cupajo:
And the 360 has less exclusives!
@Adam In Texas: Comparing anything to Subspace instantly makes me interested! I will be watching this D-A-C very closely!
A new Star Trek Bridge Commander would be cool!
Greg Rassam
I actually enjoy playing Star Trek D-A-C on the 360 and I know nothing about Star Trek and I haven't seen any of the movies.
It kind of reminds me of Subspace on the PC. Did anyone play that back in the day? Overhead multiplayer shooter like Star Trek D-A-C but supported many additional players online if I remember correctly.
Here is the wikipedia link for Subspace:
click
and it also looks like many people still play Subspace. Downloads are here: subspacedownloads.com
I wonder why they're even going to bother? DAC didn't do well on Live, and that was when it was riding the hype wave of the Star Trek movie.
I don't think releasing it months late on PS3 and PC is really going to get them many more sales...
Playstations: Bringing you the games that everyone else played 6 months ago!
