@Chibirazi: does xxxholic really count as shoujo? I enjoyed it, and didn't find it all that girly at all.

Virtua Fighter does have hit confirmation sparks, and they tell if the move is high/low/counter, just like Tekken.
Its just not as flashy, unlike Tekken.

CLAMP is a collection of artists? Thats cool, never knew what it was before. Anyways thats a rad suit, Jin Kazama looks like a regal, king version of Altair from Assassins Creed.

I wonder if CLAMP is going to design a coistume to make someone look like Lelouch, I can already see them giving Heihachi a Charles di Brittania costume.

xxxHolic is all about the mysticism which would probably attract any audience that likes supernatural events and such. Of course, the connection between Watanuki and Doumeki is a different matter, leaning more towards shippers and girls... Probably done on purpose for the fanbase.

Also as I've already mentioned they don't exclusively do shoujo, go check out Tsubasa Chronicle.

Surprised no one has commented on probably their most recent works: Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle and xxxHolic. Tsubasa is quite actiony and while it still has those cutesy elements it's also got a very dark part to it. So yeah I'd say while a good portion of their stuff can be said to be aimed towards female readers there's also stuff for guys. To be honest though I'd say all their work can be appreciated very easily by either gender.

@Unmazen: I like the idea of Namco using manga artists to design costumes. They did the same thing with Soulcalibur 4.

@Solertia: Though BlazBlue and KoFXII are different games, they're apart of the same 2D genre, no? 3D plays differently, so I'd say pick it up for the sake of variation.

@salsaman1991: The first 100 chapters of TRC were a fan service for CLAMP fans but the rest was it's own story. The story doesn't get confusing until very recently where time travel and reincarnation take place.

@Lezard: Card Captor is really good fun to watch, some great designs. Also, some of the X artwork is amazing. I own Chobits but haven't gotten around to watching it yet.

That's just awful.
It's not like I'm a huge Tekken fan or Jin Kazama fan for that matter, but... This just seems really out of place. Not something you'd imagine a guy like Jin wearing.
But actually my biggest gripe with this game (along with the fact that Tekken pretty much sucks) is this Lars Alexandersson guy. WTF!? WHO THE HELL IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS!?

@abort_user: I'll bet these costumes will ship with the PS3 version exclusively.

Then about 3 weeks down the line they'll be available on XBL Marketplace for 800MS Points or so.

@Ash735: Agreed! I played 10minutes with the crappy 360 controller and I barely can pull a hadouken out of 10 tries. It's a shitty d-pad, why the hell hasn't microsoft fix that SHIT yet. Hopefully with the upcoming releases of blazblue, tekken 6 and KoF XII will make fans outcry to microsoft about their shitty product so they could fix it up.

It's a wonder why they dont just make the newer version of the controller a standard one or hell even make it purchasable. It's like a limited edition or something.

@Mit: X is kind of an oddball, however. The manga still has yet to be completed (due to a long-standing disagreement between CLAMP and the publisher of the X manga), the movie was super-slimmed down, made into an extremely violent action movie and focused on apocalyptic imagery, and the TV series, while not as visually interesting as the movie, at least has more character development and a different ending entirely.

Nah not being a fanboy or anything but the D-Pad on the 360 sucks which is why I always choose PS3 versions of Fighting games.

@simply_androoo: I watched Angelic Layer recently, and can't say I enjoyed it very much. I definitely did not feel like the show was intended for me in any way while watching it. I've got higher hopes for X and Chobits though.

@simply_androoo: Their storytelling is surprisingly excellent (and often very dark-- they're truly horrible to some of their characters) but their style is a bit off-putting to anyone unaccustomed to shoujo-frilliness and heavily blurred gender/sexuality lines in their comics. It's interesting to note, however, that while their original target audience was girls (MKR, Card Captor Sakura-- the shoujo audience), much of their recent work is considered seinen, as in geared towards older men. The basic trappings of their stories are still shoujo-inspired, but their stories have never really been basic shoujo (except maybe CCS, and it's considered a standout in the genre). Also, to clear some misconceptions up, they're not an animation studio-- just manga artists, though they have done character designs for a few anime (Geass, Moryo no Hako, I think maybe a Gundam...) that they were otherwise uninvolved in. Interesting tidbit: they also started out doing Sonic the Hedgehog doujinshi.

@simply_androoo: It's Funny that Chobits was created with a male audience in mind, seeing as how it was published in the same seinen magazine as Ghost in the Shell and Akira.

CLAMP tries to make comics for everybody, but their overall styles can easily make people assume they only make comics for women, which isn't always true.

@Lezard: Yeah, I was a huge CLAMP fan back in the day. Some of their comics can be surprisingly masculine at times. Magic Knight Rayearth is on the deranged side. "Yay cute magical girls! Suddenly, mecha and violence. And a really weird plot twist."

I'm a fan of a lot of CLAMP's work. X, Card Captor Sakura, Chobits, and Miyuki-chan are just four of their works that I'm fond of. (I'm a 28-year-old male, for what it's worth.)

Well the clamps have good taste in shoes i'll give them that.

As someone who has no idea what a CLAMP is, that looks pretty damn awesome. It'd be cool if other fighting game developers would invite guest artists to create alternate costumes for their characters; after all, the karate gi / headband combo does get boring after awhile.

@simply_androoo: Well, they have a lot of gay characters in their comics. They have this whole comic that's an Alice in Wonderland lesbian rampage. I haven't read it, but it sounds hilarious.

How customizable are your characters in this game?

There's a reason why none of their characters actually dresses like that on their manga and anime, but do appear in similar get-ups in their covers. They look incredible awkward in movement. Hell, if he had a sword, he'd look even a little bit better, but come on! The guy fights barefisted!

I still dont understand why CLAMP which is mainly rooted in shoujo.

I would have expected CLAMP to make a super-girly costume for one of the female characters, or perhaps an effeminate/androgynous costume for the males, but this looks awesome. Nice work, CLAMP!

The one thing I never liked about the Tekken series is the sparks that come out when a punch connects. I always thought it looked so tacky.

I love the series though, but the sparks! The spaaaaaarks! D:
