The Comic-Con 2009 Schedule: Just The Games
The annual San Diego Comic-Con isn’t just about comic book culture. It’s the mecca for all things nerdy and obsessive, including video games. This year’s gaming presence at the convention is impressive, not to mention regularly double-booked.
Expect games like Gears of War, Assassin’s Creed II, Halo, Bayonetta and Dead Space Extraction to get prominent panel time, with creators from each title giving informed spiels on each.
Also expect big blowouts from Brutal Legend—the only game sponsoring a GWAR concert at the con—one of many titles that EA is bringing to the show alongside The Saboteur and Left 4 Dead 2. Activision, Capcom, Microsoft and more will be bringing their wares to the con, so expect lots of new details.
Additionally, expect some announcements and knowledge dropping on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack In Time from Naughty Dog and Insomniac Games, respectively. Both PlayStation 3 games get star-studded panels and Sony sponsored parties.
The full list of games-related Comic-Con panels—not including GWAR concerts—is now available for you to peruse at the official site. We’ll be at Comic-Con Wednesday through Sunday, feverishly blogging all sorts of interesting things.

Forget all the Marvel crap, bring on the Tron2!
There will also be a Tekken 6 event hosted by sdtekken.com

@Ad-hominem: I have a full membership and never go on Sunday... lots of people are the same, you can probably find a day pass if you look
I've been to Comic-Con for the past 5 years but I couldn't get the days off this year. I'm not going to miss the crowds though. The convention has been over capacity for years. They need to put in a lottery ticket system for panels and events. No more of this camping in the same room for the entire day bullcrap. If you want to see the Twilight panel, you should get a ticket. It should be a point-based auction system. Every attendee gets 100 points. From those, there's a limit of say 2000 tickets for a certain event. If you want to blow all 100 points on on ticket, then that's it, that's all you get. More panels for the rest of us. Other, less desirable panels will cost less points but will be easier to get into.

I'm now even more pumped that I have week long tickets for every day including preview night. Heck yes.

@BubbleF**kingBuddy:
San Diego Comic Con has been around for 40 years now whereas NYCC isn't quite as old or established. SDCC is huge, amazing, fun, and unforgettable. NY just needs more time to catch up to that.

sigh... got my free professional's pass to go but can't afford the airfare. if anyone wants to impersonate me, you're more than welcome to my passes. you just have to take video at the Lost panel for me.
Michael, can we have a kotaku pre-Comic Con party? please? Wed night before the can starts?

@geekgrrl: I'd recommend going. I have gone every year for 11 years now. This will be my 12th. I recommend that everyone goes atleast once. But you need to buy early. Tickets sell out in Feb.
@Vecha: Tired of America's Solution to Health Care.: Not really possible. The SDCC was fully booked up by March 3rd or so.
Yeah. Every single day, every single option.

@AncientUnknown1:
Haven't they always gone to comic con?
@TaggarT6:
Force the buddy with you?
@geekgrrl:
I went to it a few years ago. Really recommend that someday you go. Of course I ended up spending way too much money, but the dork/geek/nerd inside me was highly satisfied.
Gotta feed that dark passenger--er--wait.
I'll be at Comic-Con. I think Kotaku should do like a small group gathering for those who are attending the Con [or those who are in the area that weekend].
Maybe we'll see some news relating to MvC3? One can hope!
shit. this is looking more and more like something i'll have to go to eventually.
geekgrrl
Got tickets for the Sunday but might have to skip it if a buddy of mine comes to visit for the weekend.
:(
@BubbleF**kingBuddy:
Well, its tough for the sequel to top the original. Even though I've love to go to either of them. Where's my non-Wizard World Midwest Comic Con?!?! *shakes fist*
Make that another annual convention journalist now have to attend. How many is that now? DICE, GDC, E3, Comic-Con, GamesCon, TGS, and PAX. Seven. Almost as if the job is just series of conventions at this point.
AncientUnknown1
No mention of Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2?
Teancum
@BubbleF**kingBuddy: Well, last year's SD comic-con was great.
I still have tons of free Watchmen swag lying about, and getting to play Ghostbusters early was cool.
It sucks that I can't go this year.
Ad-hominem
i cant wait to attend this year (this will be my second year attending) last year i only got in to the GoW2 panel which was pretty awesome. hopefully ill be able to make to some of these panels.
Props to Brutal Legend for bringing GWAR.
Looking forward to that Left 4 Dead 2 info! =D
I hope it's better than the last NYCC. That was just a plain clusterfuck. Almost no movie studios showed up to show off previews, the big Comic companies had nothing interesting to say, and the lot was crowded and confusing.
As a matter of fact, the best thing about the last NYCC was the Sega, Rockstar, Arksys, and PlayNTrade booths.
Can't forget about Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2.

Looking forward to more information on Uncharted 2 (how about a release date?) and ODST.
Comic convention=Video game convention, Movie convention, Anime convention and Dog convention
New York and California get all the good conventions : (
Why did you leave me and go back to L.A., E3? You should have stayed in Georgia. Now what am I left with? Dragon*Con, that's what.
