Wolfenstein The Animated Graphic Novel Part One

This first in a four-part series of animated Wolfenstein graphic novels from Activision tells the story of the original Wolfenstein 3D. Really out of date spoilers follow.

It took me a moment to get my bearings while watching this first in the Wolfenstein animated graphic novel series. I had assumed that it was simply a tie in to the upcoming Wolfenstein game for the Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3, but then Mecha Hitler showed up. It looks like they’ll be doing one of these for each game leading up to the latest, so expect many more black, white, and red all-over Nazi soldiers in the weeks ahead.

    What is the deal with the main guy's tiny face? Those character designers need to break out an anatomy book 'cause your nose isn't half the size of your ear.

    Nice carpet hair too.

    That was awesome! Wow, great production value and great graphics! Can't wait to see more. I'm half tempted to download Wolfenstein 3d now, which if I do, means their ad campaign worked perfectly!

    @AZTriGuy: "Mein Leimen!" was supposed to be "Mein Leben!" which means "My life!" in English.

    I'd say it's more like cross between Mecha Hitler (4 chainguns) and regular chaingun-wielding Hitler that you get to fight after you defeat him in his mecha-suit.

    I'd love to see a tribute to the original suit somewhere in the upcoming game.

    One of the craziest things that I ever discovered was that Commander Keen (Billy Blazkowicz(sp?) was BJ Blazkowicz's(sp?) grandson. Loving both games, that totally blew my mind.

    I was really hoping for a "Mein Leimen!" (sp?) or "Gutentag!!" sound in there, but a pretty cool video nonetheless

    @Ukawelmaschopa: in that time i would have been either "codewort" (beiding an anglicism) or "Deckname" meaning "coveru name"

  • Ukawelmaschopa

    @emwurst: Well...the equivalent that I know of is "Codename", but "name" pronounced like the German "Name" (Nahme).

    If only the battle against Hans Grosse was that easy!

    oh snap

    @Hey_Blinkon: Well, if the Watchmen "animated graphic novel" is any indication, I would imagine the largest difference is that a cartoon is watchable.

  • Showmeyomoves!

    @Hey_Blinkon: Here's the easy way to remember: If it looks like it shouldn't be moving, it's an animated graphic novel.

    @Hey_Blinkon: The former allows you to watch with some semblance of your adult dignity intact (in theory).

    @Hey_Blinkon:

    I think its just the style in which its shown. The graphics are more stationary but move (ie. less animated?) To me it has a whole different feel to it, I guess.

    Don't take my word for it though. I'm pretty sure I didn't help you in anyway hahaha.

  • TheOddOneDies

    @emwurst: It's actually the German word for "codename".

    @Life Between Naps: You win.

  • emwurst

    Is the German word for "Codename" really "Kodename"? Or are they just tuggin' my lederhosen?

  • Hey_Blinkon

    What is the difference between an animated graphic novel and a cartoon?

    In before it's banned in Germany...

    Hell yes!

    My 4 very favorite things bound up in one package.

    Nostalgia, FPS, Comics, and entertainment that doesn't require me to move.
