Arcade Cabinets For Your GI Joes
Disillusioned by the way the recent GI Joe movie treated the 1980s’ take on the franchise? You’re not the only one. Spare a thought for the plastic Joes themselves, who must now console themselves with endless games of Tempest.
And Pac-Man, and Galaga, and Donkey Kong. The bleeps and bloops of decades-old arcade games are the only things keeping them from the bottle and some serious therapy.
These hand-made arcade cabinets cost around $US25, and can be made to order. Me, I’ll be requesting an NBA Jam cabinet, so SNake Eyes and Storm Shadow can finally just go at it.

@Cyrian: Thanks! Now that you mention that, the head joint and jaw do resemble other figures in that particular line.
@Mal-Content, Servant of Viggo: What I think Really makes it is that the combination of italics and bold does seem to make it look also Right...
@SigmundTheSeaMonster: Cheaper than this too.
Of course I'm old enough to have played these arcade games... and to still think of GI Joe as being 12" tall.
@Convair 990A: It's Helix, a new character from the Rise of Cobra game.

Meh. I got PacMan from hallmark...And it lights up-plays the tune...

So wait, do the cabinets work? no probably not. They'd cost at least $50 if they did.

I need a star wars arcade cabinet for my Luke Skywalker!
@spiderweb1986: Barkley was in some versions of the game prior to Shut Up and Jam's release. My Genesis cart has Barkley as well.

He definitely was in the arcade version too, but was not in Tournament Edition.

@MCWHAMMER: Yes, for YOU is $25, I live in Argentina and this kind of things can cost me about $80 or even more. But yes, you're right, $25 is a good price.
@PaxtonAstypalaea-Prime: winnah!
That statement is mandatory at some point in any GI JOE thread.
@asdf4321: Bitch better learn to be born before 1990
Rozzlit
@Salen: Turtles in Time is extra, 4 controllers you know.
@asdf4321: ....the link says they are made of wood....
mmmm - tastes like research
choral_music
@Hardcore: Good luck with that. If memory serves, Barkley wasn't in NBA Jam because the only game that had rights to his likeness was Barkley Shut Up and Jam.
How about Bill Clinton and Will Smith as a substitute?

I think I just found my latest addiction...
@yeOldeTimeyGamer: LOL, I only remember that because I bought this book recently called: The Ultimate Guide to G.I. Joe 1982-1994. The movie got me interested in them again, and this book has tons of info about the figures.
@asdf4321: Where does it say papercraft? They look a lot better than that!
High Speed Indeed
@DNinja: Showoff :p
So this is what Copperhead does when he is not driving the Water Moccasin...
Omg, I still have that GIJOE in the top picture!
Your Joes? I'm sorry but I believe that is Copperhead in the first image and he is a member of COBRA
(Still have him and a few dozen more in a box at home.)

G.I.JOE.

undeadmachine
they look cool, and i don't think i played gauntlet can still remember the days of my arcade hack n slashin with gauntlet legends and the original DK on the arcade machine inside DK64, but $25 FOR PAPERCRAFT?...
asdf4321
Arrgh, I could use a couple of these, especially Galaga, which is still fun to play in arcades. (Where's my Ally Sheedy?) I can't figure out what action figure's playing Donkey Kong, though. Any ideas?
Storm Shadow would TOTALLY shatter the backboard on Snake Eyes. And he'd use Barkley to do it, too.
Hardcore
There needs to be a Turtles in Time cabinet, or Gauntlet if you want to be REALLY Old School. ... *blinks* Oh, my bad. He DID Make a Gauntlet one! Okay, uh... how about Joust or Space Ace?
@khyron62: Because they are hand made. I'm surprised they do not cost more. I respect his pricing... $25 is very reasonable for such a detailed piece of art.
@Snappywave: Subtitle option for the Deaf please: you can buy mame rom legal

Damn!! why? Oh why this small things have so damn big prices!! I love this cabinets
No, true American heroes do not steal. Therefore they don't touch game emulators.

@Raw_fishFood: Do you really want miniature TRS80s and Comodore 64s with 400 baud rate modems so the Joes can connect to the vs.COBRA bbs?
Why not a cabinet of the G.I. Joe arcade game itself? You know that 4-player arcade game.
Man...I remember losing so many coins on that game and never finishing it...until I was able to play it on MAME. ;-)
reekon
Why not tiny computers as well? Computers where they can enjoy said Arcade classics on a MAME emulator. Or browse Kotaku, and see the post on the tiny G.I. Joe sized computers, where they can see pictures of themselves on tiny computers browsing Kotaku, which in turn is the post of the tiny G.I. Joe sized computers...

..... I so need some of these, but I'd imagine they will cost me a fair bit extra for delivery to the UK...
But... I have a Mighty Need for my Revoltech and Figmas to play some classic arcade action.
I would also love to see some slightly more recent ones too, like House of the Dead, complete with the Guns, actually chained to the machine...
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
The detail on the cabinets is absolutely amazing, would love to get a few of these.
