The preceding map and following note arrived in the Kotaku NYC offices today, pre-wrinkled and purportedly written by one Mark Meltzer who is searching for his daughter (hey, Mark, she’s probably somewhere under the sea.) This make-believe man is going to be at Jones Beach, Long Island, NY this Saturday, August 8. Or so he says in his note. He’s even specified his expected latitude and longitude as well as the times and locations of nine other key beach spots to check out that day.
You might get a sense from this note that Meltzer (read: TakeTwo/BioShock marketing folks) would really like the help of other other people. Like the people at Kotaku, perhaps? Perhaps it’s the all-caps first line that tipped me off. Too bad the poor fool(s) sent this to me the day Kotaku began to run as slowly as a GameCube game on an NES. (Hopefully fixed by the time you read this!)
Also notable is how the writing of this letter differs from a similar document posted on the BioShock 2 hype site.

I’ve not been following the ins and outs of this campaign, so I have no idea what will appear on the beach on Saturday, August 8. I’m hoping it’ll be a guy in a Big Daddy suit.

Great. So either I go to SMASH, go see the warthog, or go to Bondi for bioshock. I wish I had enough money for all 3 >.>

33.53S 151.16E = Hawkesbury River
33.83S 151.16E = Tambourine Bay in Sydney Harbour
I don’t see how either make it to Bondi beach
Report Permalink33.8933S 151.277E = Bondi Beach

Well if you actually put 53 in minutes/seconds its actually 33.883 and the other coordinate is 151.266 and if you put that in then it points directly at bondi golf course?!?! so people gonna b confused whether this thing is happening on the beach or inland. but seeing as its bioshock i suggest go to the beach?
