Chinatown Wars And Beaterator Coming To iPhone

@ddhboy: I think there is a better chance that a game like this could establish a market for games at a bit higher price point. Also, if they charge too little they risk alienating people that have paid the higher price for the game on other platforms. There are still costs related to promotion and distribution but the perceived value for a digital download is less and you can't lend it or sell it after like you could with a physical product. As such I could see it going for less then it does on DS and PSP, but not too much less.

@Raziel66: I agree. I feel that if they were to make another iPhone with a d-pad just to the left of the screen (when held in landscape mode), games for it would do incredibly well.

I can deal with touching the screen for buttons (like shoot or "examine", etc) and menus, but virtual d-pads or virtual analog sticks require your thumb to either be constantly touching or constantly hovering over the screen, and that's just no good.

While the size of the iPhone screen is actually bigger (resolution-wise) than that of a PSP, it ends up being closer to the ratio of the DS screen when you realize that you can only count the space between your thumbs as true gamescreen realestate. It's sad.

Normally I'd get annoyed about a game coming out with 'enhanced graphics' after buying the original, but DS Chinatown Wars was sublime. Control scheme was a delight and really felt like it had been built for the ground up for the DS (a console that I don't play on all that much). So I really feel that I've already played the best version, but hey the more people playing this game the better. Great fun.

I'd love to see CW ported to the Zune HD once the Apps start rolling in for it.

Not to mention the overall better power of the Tegra processor by Nvidia.

(I'm not hatin' on Apple, just saying I'd like to see this happen.)

I remember one analist saying Chinatown Wars would be ported to Iphone, and no one believed him.

I have it and it's awesome. Far beyond the scope any flash game could achieve. It's like the old-school GTA's but much better.

@Raziel66: Yeah. Someone should make a clear screen protector that has tactile nubs (similar to the little nub on the f and j keys) to let you know where center is. Games could simply update to optionally conform to the location.

@Gray665: Don't worry too much, the models before the 3Gs were not that powerful but they totally can pull of better than DS and early PSP graphics. Though i'm not sure if it can handle cell shaded graphics.

@minivolt: yeah, that's my biggest gripe so far. That and the lack of any texture on the screen to keep my fingers on the "joystick". I find that my fingers start to slip off the game controls over time.

@Gossy... Fortune and Glory: That's what I am hoping. I don't have a DS or PSP so this is my only way to play it. As long as its playable I'll be happy.

What I don't like about the iphone, is that the finger/hand often obscure what's happening on screen.

@Gray665: It'll run fine, it may be optimised for 3gs but R* aren't about to alienate older iphones or touches.

@fronsac: If its more than 10 bucks, then it won't sell too well. EA's sort of dominated the game market on the app store, and all their products are 10 dollars or less.

If Chinatown looks like the PSP version, but plays like the DS version and doesn't cost too much then I'll double dip.

Oh wow Chinatown on iPhone. Hopefully the iPhone3G won't have a problem with it. This is awesome, I was going to buy a DS just for Chinatown Wars.

poor nintendo, they announced this game last E3 to be exclusive to the DS, now its coming on the PSP and the iPhone :P

Well I guess that shuts up the folks who accused the model of been dumb and not knowing what she was talking about.
Then again I guess Owen did that...
Still as I pointed out expect more games to go between the iPhone DS and PSP just as 360/PS3 n Pc get multi-plats. Especially with the PSP minis, they will probably be alot of iPhone ports for that service.
