That's a pretty sweet list right there. I don't know how many quality multiplayer hours I've poured into IT&F in my life, but it's a hell of a lot.

My copy had a slight glitch in the high jump that made the timing of pulling up your legs kind of difficult. I always wondered if it was just my disc, or if it was a programming flaw. Looks like I'll finally get to find out :)

I must say Do you realise that with a ten year console life cycle a company must release the catalogue slowly if they wish to make a profit on said games. They know that you only want (Tomba!) but they aren't going to release actually nostalgic games because they want you to buy a very outdated sports game that you wouldn't ever consider if what you wanted was there... Um Jammer Lammy is an amazing game. It took all of the fun and charm of the first game, and multiplied it several times over. The game is much longer... with multiplayer, and unlockable Parappa... this was the best in the series. (although I own them all).

Um Jammer Lammy is great, but where is Parappa? I still own the discs for the rest of those that I like (the two Oddworlds, Blood Omen, Syphon Filter 2)...

Good stuff. Now how about releasing that Resident Evil 2 Capcom/Sony?

For the love of god, Square needs to bring the PSOne port of Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen to PSN. I know the SNES version is available for VC, but the PSOne port looked better and had extra content. PLEASE!

This is one of the best batches of PSone classics I've seen rated by the ESRB. I love all of these games except for Cool Boarders 3 & International Track/Field, which I never played and have no interest in playing. But the Oddworld games were excellent, Pandemonium has a soft-spot in my heart (it was one of my favorite early PSone games), Syphon Filter 2 is great, Um Jammer Lammy is great (I like it much more than PaRappa the Rapper), and last but not least, my favorite Legacy of Kain game, Blood Omen! Hell yeah!

Um Jammer Lammy? One of my favorite games ever... I´m completely sold for this one if it´s happening. Thank god I´m getting a pstripple this year!!

Yes, finally Syphon Filter 2. I remember way back when, my friend let me borrow it. I beat disk 1, then I checked disk 2 and it was... split in half.

I think I see what you're getting at since it would be a direct port and would need two sticks, but Japan already has it as a PS1 classic, so what's keeping it from coming to the states? @Saint Anima: Both Oddworld games are remarkable, but so was Syphon Filter 2. That game had a great sense of pace and tension, notably with the creative use of radio communications, giving a larger scope to the events, letting you listen to conversations while running and gunning, changing the mission objectives on the fly, etc.

That said, the visuals may have aged poorly, especially played with a PS3 on an HD screen, instead of a PS1 or PS2 on a SD screen.

@gundaman: Legend of Dragoon was a sweet rpg. I remember getting it for free for participating in a sony focus group. I regrettably traded it in at gamestop (i was young and dumb). I ended up buying it all over again just to redeem myself.

@cin1122: Nope, every PS3 can play PS1 hard disc games (and also has a neat little internal memory card feature so you don't have to go on ebay to buy one (which I had to for the PS2 arrrgg!!!). The issue with BC is only about the PS2.

@thesircuddles: My home recently became equipped with a 65" HDTV (not the first household HDTV, so I'm not just being an HD-noob) and basically as a joke I played a bunch of old PS1 and PS2 games on it (BC PS3-- so upscaled)-- and the range of how good or bad things looked was ENORMOUS. Some PS2 games looked like pixel vomit (Shadow of the Colossus, to my great sadness-- weirdly, not Ico) but then some PS1 games actually looked just fine (Threads of Fate-- who knew Rue's door had a lock on it!). It seems to depend pretty heavily on the game, unfortunately.

Well Legacy of Kain is simply AWESOME as that game rocks! I had it for PC a few years ago but never managed to actually finish it.

It was one of those games I was hoping to see on the PS Store but wasn't really hopeful it would happen.

Syphon Filter 2, on the other hand, am really glad since the original SF is the very first thing I purchased from the Store when I first got my PS3, and it's been buggin me that SF 3 is there but part 2 isn't. I kept telling myself that I wouldn't buy SF3 until SF2 turned up. Guess it's time to take the credit card out. :D

Ah, the Oddworld series. Loved them. Replayed Abe's Exodus recently, and will be moving on [or should that be back?] to Oddysee at some point soon.
Parappa the Rapper was good too, Um Jammer Lammy just wasn't quite the same... (Still completely batshit insane though, which is what we love so much about these games! But there really is no beating the clearly-stoned frog who owns the flea market stall.. Or the chicken forcing you to "crack-crack-crack the egg into the bowl!" in order to make a birthday cake covered in fish...)

Question being, where's the Tombi/Tomba love? (I seem to remember you crazy Yanks called him Tomba...) I have Tombi 2, and really like it, but even back when the PSX was in its heyday I couldn't find a sign of Tombi for less than extortionate prices on eBay... Probably my favourite thing ever to have come off a console's bundled demo disc... *sniff*. I had similar unavailability for Klonoa too, except for a rental I made for one weekend (but at least that's had a remake on another platform)

@Antiterra: Never played pandemonium but I always remember seeing it advertised on the game manual for blood omen. I agree with you as well, the legacy of Kain series an excellent series. Kain is such a bad ass, I'm surprised he's not mentioned as a memorable video game character. Plus the series is pretty deep in discussions on chance, fate, destiny and free will, how can you not like that.

@Saint Anima: Brave Fencer Musashi was an awesome Zelda clone (not a bad thing). It had a lot of heart and humor to it. I never did get past the dancing boss battle.

If they are 5.99 instead of 9.99 (Is FF7 the only PS1 Classic that was 9.99?), I could see myself getting Blood Omen, both Abe games, Pandemonium (which I've never actually played) and Lammy the day they come out!

The PSOne game I want on the Classics list that hasn't been hinted at yet is the original Twisted Metal. I still own TM2, 3, 4, Black, and Head-On: ETE, but I never owned the original. Come on, Sony, let TM fans return to the series roots.

I doubt it unfortunately. The PSone classics emulations are supposed to be at a 1-1 emulation ratio so they stay basically as the real disc. So the massive load times are still most likely there.

No they don't. Gunstar Heroes was actually refitted for the PS3. The PSone classics however are just ISOs that run on the PS3. So no trophy support.

I'll grab Legacy Of Kain the second it comes out. It's still my favourite in the series. I remember having so much fun translating the runes, then following the clues... "Vae Victis!!"

Legend of Mana is actually one of my favorite RPGs of all time, I have the ISO on my computer, but I would actually like to own it legally and play it on my PS3 with my sis. Sonic 2 is my favorite platformer, and I still play ____ all the time.

@thesircuddles: They look like 10-16 year old games would. The PS3 does have some options in the Setting tab of the XMB to tweak how PS1 games look. choose the best for your TV.

Blood Omen is an excellent Zelda-style time waster (still have that as well as Pandemonium!). Perfect for causing agony on the go ^_^.

Um Jammer Lammy was my first music rythm game way back when.

I could never get past the airplane level iirc.

I wish we could get Stranger's Wrath. Good lord, I loved the shit out of that game. Hell, I also want that unreleased Oddworld game that was in development (was featured in Gameinformer a little while back). That'd be ace. Damn you Inhabitants!

@thesircuddles: It's not bad, but it is what it is. It definitely won't look like you remember, because at that time it was cutting edge. The filters on the PS3 only do so much.

To anyone who has a large HDTV and PS3, do PSX games look like garbage? I saw Destruction Derby on there last night and the 10 year old in me just about exploded, but then I realized it probably won't look too hot...

9 looks go...I mean "Oddworld" looks good. The rest is decent, I'll take Exodus and Oddysee though.
