First Assassin’s Creed II Trailer Dispenses Some Justice

My first thought when I heard the music was: "A fashion show? In Assassins Creed trailer?" I did not like it.

And sure, re-watched the trailer and it contains a fashion show segment with Ezio showing off his costume both front and back at the same time. The second time the music made much more sense, and I like it how they zoom and change angles with the beats.

I think that was a great trailer, and I hear people saying that "it's assassin's creed it shouldn't be GTA" but hey, I feel a lot more like a badass playing assassin's creed than i did playing GTA4 - awesome trailer.

Gotta say, I still love this game and intend to buy the shit out of it, but I did feel that the trailer needed a better choice of music. In comparison to the first game's 'Lonely Souls' trailer. I'm all for that kind of music, but I do not feel that it fits the best in comparison to what they could have used instead.

The mentioning of the Bonus Ingame map for Pre order ruined it for me, althougth i still will buy it.

the music otherways... well i had a kinda Assasins Bond feel at the beginning but then it just didn't fit, despice the incredibly interesting moves that were shown.

@Capp: wow...you got your money's worth out of that game, huh? haha. I'd probably still be playing if I did all of that. To me, the game itself seemed pretty repetitive in the overall flow (go here, kill him, go there, kill him), but I didn't really mind it.

What really got me is doing so many of the "throw away" missions. Pickpocket this guy to get info, beat this guy up in an alley to get info, save this person from guards. I think that sort of thing irritates some more than others, but it did get to me quite a bit after a while.

Every trailer I watch just makes me want this game more and more. Going to be taking a day off from school for this one.

this reminds me a lot of the gears of war 2 trailer where they tried to recreate the feel of the GoW1 trailer with mad world by using how it ends and failed utterly. however at least justice is getting some play, always a good thing really.

I hear people talk about how repetitive the first game one. Yes it was repetitive for sure, but I never got tired of it. I did every single mission, got all the flags and did as many of the missions as possible without being detected and I really didn't get tired of it at all.

@tslothrop: You're totally right, They mention Florence and San Gimignano in that interview, my bad. But it's still sweet to see it in motion and in game.

So now I'm even more excited for this to come out, although it will probably only make me want to go back to Italy all that much more.

I love Unkle. I loved the first Assasins Creed trailer that used that Unkle song. Then a few weeks later, I found out that I owned that song on one of my Unkle CD's. Justice has cool music too. I wasnt expecting to hear them during an Assasins Creed trailer, but I liked it.

That really stoked my anticipation for the game. I was there a couple of years ago during their fall harvest celebration; such a beautiful city. Actually, all of Tuscany is pretty gorgeous. I'm pretty stoked for this game...I'm playing through the first AC now and I'm actually rather enjoying it. It has quite a few flaws, but it's not nearly as bad as the Internet made it out to be.

Honestly, this trailer has a poor choice of unfitting music. Something operatic would be better suited. As another guy in here said, "This is Assassin's Creed, not GTA.".

Does he really die in water? Again? I will never understand why developers continue to think they can get away with this. He's a highly trained assassin but he can't swim? And even if a game character can't swim, how does that equal instant death?

I liked the weird noises at the end, though.

I want to know will the main assassinations still be a set scenario where you have little choice in how to tackle it.

I hated that in the first game. All that 'investigation' only to find it doesn't matter a bit. It was just a way of unlocking the last kill.

I have been boycotting shopping at gamestop because of this stupid obsession of "exclusive content" with preorders. I was never a regular shopper there, but every now and then I'd pick something up, but I just avoid the damn place entirely now.

Offering various bits of swag with preorders is great, you know with things like art books, t-shirts, soundtracks, toys, etc... but in game content? I know it's nothing new; they've been doing this for awhile now, but I feel that above all the other problems with gamestop, this is the worst. It needs to stop. I know I'll be "missing out" on a couple of features with my games, but I refuse to support a company that will pull this kind of crap.

Well the fact that the first image of a town they show you is Florence, not Venice, and you see Ezio looking over the Duomo of Florence after the montage of paintings, I think they may have just revealed a second location. (although I may have missed an earlier announcement)

And in some of the action sequences it looks like the Towers of San Gimignano, that may be a third city, although it is substantially smaller than both Venice and Florence. But Maybe Siena, which is near to San Gimignano, is the third city as it was a large powerful town in the time period of the game... so who knows... probably somebody

First one was Massive Attack's Protection, now it's Justice' Genesis? Hmm I'm curious about the third one's trailer now.

It's a very odd choice of trailer but he/she/they has/have edited it to the beat. Each beat timed with a punch etc. Still I don't know if it was just me, but there was something jarring about this video to that beat. But at least it wasn't another Justice song I guess.

I've never played the first one, but this one looks a little more interesting to me. It could be that Justice is involved in the trailer, I don't know.

I don't know about other people, but I really enjoyed AC1 and the story inside another story concept really grabbed me. I want to know what happens next in the 'real world' of the game almost as much as I just want to run around in Italy and stab guys in the throat.

@Austin Walker: They sure did. The first game had awesome trailers too. Unfortunately I did not finish it yet, but I started playing last week. Currently 3 or 4 assassinations left before I am done with the game.

I think Mass Effect released on PC just after the first Assassins Creed, or perhaps it was Uncharted. Since AC is slightly repetitive, I went for one of the other games (full play-through) and didn't have time to resume playing AC until now.

But my expectations are high for AC2! Looks like it will be a crazy gaming year. First Uncharted 2 (immediate play-through), then Assassin's Creed 2. Still have 2/3 of The Witcher unplayed - amazing game, wish I had time to play it. Way too much work and you do not want to rush it through without enjoying it fully!

Now when I think of it, I must have like 3-5 other games that are more or less unplayed.

@Cisisero: With exclusive content, it's really not so much giving free things away as much as it is witholding content from everyone else. The data, DLC ect. is all already there, either on the disc or downloadable and widely available to everyone else, they just choose not to allow it to be so. Artbooks, figurines ect. I can understand because there is a limit to physical products, but a scarecrow challenge room? That's just a dick move.

I hope its not the same thing over and over like AC1. The first game had a lot of potential going for it, but once you completed the first city the game was pretty much "over" and you were doing the same thing repeatedly after that.

@Zelmor: I find it hilarious when the only attack a person can think of in a game are simple QTEs. Seriously, there's nothing wrong with them. theyre made to express things that a player couldnt normally do, as well as add some amazing cinematic flair.

I'd rather see kratos cut off the snake tail on the chimera, break it's horns off and impale it with them as opposed to ryu doing the same old "slice, slice, jump slice" ending in the boss leaning over sideways and then having a non interactive cutscene showing the boss die for the second time, only more dramatically, just like EVERY OTHER BOSS.

KO, this is a no, no in terms of mathc. it may be cool and upbeat son, but 15th Century Venice.

Also the gameplay may be good, but for Christ holy sake Ubisoft. Do a little research. All of the painting that they showed, not one is in Venice. The Mona Lisa is in France (and always has been since Ferdinand I took daVince there), the Last Supper is in a small monestery, in Toscana, the Academy is in Rome, Botitcelli's The birht of Venus is in Florence and the Sixtine chapel has been in rome for ever. And that view of a city looks mor Florence than venice. C'mon Ubisoft, you're French, Venice isn't so far away.

Not only am I more excited for this game, I just found a new song to run to in the morning.

@LllusionX: Proud Commander of the Sony Attack Force Helghan!: it sounds like you prefer the spectacle of the game to compelling gameplay. i generally hate quicktime events, because for me they fail so dramatically at what they try and do, i.e. they are the very opposite of cinematic engagement. it's the same thing with my dislike of the first person shooter: the first person mechanic is supposed to be more engaging and make the player's gaze and the characters gaze one and the same, but all it does for me is articulate this kind of uncanny valley where i'm acutely aware that i'm simply playing a game, because 'this isn't how my eyes work'. with the quicktime event, it's a situation that i should be completely immersed in, or excited by, but instead i'm compelled to perform this simple button presses, which removes me from both the cinematic spectacle and prevents me from being lost in engaging gameplay mechanics.

@Flashfire: I wouldn't mind at all if they moved it back to what it was pre-DLC exclusives. I pre-ordered games so that I can be assured that I'll have it on launch day. In the past, it wasn't uncommon for popular games to actually physically sell out the first day or two. And I never expected anything out of it. At any rate, art books, figurines, posters, hats, actual "things" are infinitely better than withholding digital content from everyone else.
