It'd be great if Red vs Blue did ODST stuff and make a new story... I was much more fond of their PANICS series, I highly recommend seeing it, it's like 4 episodes long.

@MtlAngelus: Yep. They're not just checking birthdates, they use it to pick up trends and such, too. You know, how many gamers of X age are paying attention to game Y. It's a good thing.

@Yossarian: Fair point, but it doesn't change that they've managed to do it for several years and keep a fan base that supports their hobby-turned-career. Not many people have been able to do that with machinima, so my hat's off to them.

@Dead Giveaway: That's one of the best posts I've seen in a long time. A gamer who 'gets it'. It's not about who makes the best console, it's not about what flagship franchise is better than others and it's not about fanboy flame wars. It's about good games giving great entertain with good people. That's what gaming should be about. Bravo, sir.

@shufflemoomin: COD4 is my most played Online Multiplayer game of recent years. I would go as far as to say it has more game time than Goldeneye & Halo (the first 2 games that got me addicted to FPS with friends).

I've never been a big fan of MGS and never liked Final Fantasy either. But Halo gave me something those games never did. Great gaming parties with dozens of friends and hundreds of hours of pure enjoyment.

@Dead Giveaway: I agree that games are better with friends. I hated COD4 until I started playing with set bunch of good guys. Made the game 100 times more fun.

I'm simply not a fan of MGS. It just does nothing for me. I've never really rated Halo or the FF series either, so I guess I'm an odd one out. These games sell by the millions but they just don't push the right buttons for me.

@shufflemoomin: If I didn't have any gaming friends, then I wouldn't be playing Halo. I don't get stuck with idiots because I have friends that work great with Party System.

And 30 minutes is about all I can stand of every MGS title I tried. I'm not going to rip on the game like many children rip on Halo. I just don't enjoy the franchise.

@Dead Giveaway: I've owned a PS2 and now a PS3 and have only played a MGS games once, for half an hour. Not my type of game at all. I was going to give the new one a try but I heard too many horror stories about cut scenes and gave it a wide berth.

I tried playing MGS a bunch of times, it's just not that fun. I'll pick Splinter Cell over it any day.

Halo has made a bigger and quicker impact on the gaming community than MGS did.

Quality is always debatable. Halo is a different game. I don't even really care for it personally, but I can see where it is a very addictive multiplayer experience for many millions of gamers.

MGS, on the other hand, is a little more cerebral. It is for the crowd that prefers subtle homoerotic themes instead of hearing other players blatantly yell out "cocksucker" every time there is a headshot.

@Yossarian: Just that the MGS series is good. Halo 1: Good. Halo 2: Childcare. Halo 3: The kid's escape! Halo ODST: We can only pray. (Obviously I am very biased on my opinion, do not take too much offense, this is the internet. I know you are all macho tough guys IRL)

Halo is a popular choice because of how many copies it sells every time a new game is released, and how bitter some get about that.

Bring back the glory days of Halo 2 when I had hours a day to devote to honing my skills. I doubt I'll be any good at ODST.
