Square Enix Wants To Sell Over Six Million Copies Of FFXIII

The last big game Square Enix released is Dragon Quest IX, which sold over 3.7 million copies in Japan alone. The next big game? Final Fantasy XIII. Square Enix hopes to sell more of that game, way more.

The previous title shipped over six million copies worldwide, reports Reuters. The target Square Enix is setting for upcoming role-playing-game FFXIII is over six million.

The company has shipped four million copies of DQIX and has targeted five million copies sold domestically of the game. “I think we will be able to do that this year,” says Square Enix honcho Yoichi Wada.

Well, I haven’t bought one since FFVIII.

But after watching the trailers for this one I think I’m hooked.

One down guys, 5,999,999 to go.

  • Perhaps, since it’s on xbox and ps. But I’m not so sure everyone is as keen on final fantasy as they were back in the ps2 days, JRPG’s arn’t as accepted by the world outside of Japan as they were.

LOL this is pathetic. Do they think we are stupid?

They lowering their expectations so that when it “sells more than their projections” they are go and bloat about it and be all, oh we sold all this and this.”

Guess they learned their lesson from Dragon Quest IX after their expectations didn’t meet sales cause their big head got in the way.
