The rumour is true: you will be able to drive V8 Supercars in Forza Motorsport 3. Eight of them, in fact; evenly split between Holden and Ford.
Xbox and V8 Supercars Australia have announced the partnership that sees eight cars from this season’s championship series appear in the 360-exclusive racing sim. They are:
Holden
#2 Toll Holden Racing Team Commodore VE
#33 Garry Rogers Motorsport Commodore VE
#39 Supercheap Auto Racing Commodore VE
#51 Sprint Gas Racing Commodore VE
Ford
#1 TeamVodafone FG Falcon
#5 Ford Performance Racing FG Falcon
#9 Stone Brothers Racing FG Falcon
#25 Britek Motorsport FG Falcon
However, there will be no Australian tracks to race them on. Instead you’ll be taking your chosen V8 to “world-famous tracks, including Suzuka, Nürburgring Nordschleife and the Sebring International Raceway, as well as new environments like the mountainous Montserrat region in Spain, the rugged Amalfi Coast in Italy and the American Southwest.”
It’s no substitute for the lack of a real V8 Supercars game (hey, Codies, what’s going on there?), but eight cars is definitely better than none. Check ‘em out.

Dave did you ask if these are unlocked for Australians straight away as they were in Race Driver (V8 Supercars)
Also, this is not the massive impact on GT5 that Sony may have feared. Lack of tracks and championship makes it just cars and if GT5 has the VE Holden and latest Ford then this is totally negated.
However, racing V8s on the massive nurburgring is going to be A W E S O M E.

this is really only a major blow to the Aussie market for GT5 as the v8s do have following over seas but its in much the same way as probably u have an interest in the DTM very few people watch it here. having said that some DLC Australian tracks should be in order Bathurst. and the great thing is the cars are suppose to be paint able which means people will keep the cars looking up to date as well as painting the remanding missing cars from the series.

now all they have to do is include a track editor with the game, and we’re all set.

If only Bathurst was included… that would of been a pure nail in the coffin for GT5…
Report PermalinkUnless it could be a DLC? Time will only tell… along with additional V8 cars >.>

Too bad M$ is ALWAYS trying to out do Sony in everything it does than to make a name for themselves….. GT = Forza, Sing Star = Lips Nvidia gfx card(for those that dont know the GFX card in the 360 was originally suppost to be in the PS3 until you know who caught wind of it.), Eyetoy, PSEye = Natal etc…..
Report PermalinkToo bad they’re 2years too late. To me M$ is in the PS2era of thinking BUT without the dominance that Sony had.

Most hillarious thing i have read today. This is why sony is languashing in third after having a completely dominant last generation isn’t it?
And i think you will find both Microsoft AND Sony are doing motion control because of Wii.
They missed the boat and now they are trying to catch it.

btw, there is no problem with a corporation identifying trends in the market and then designing and building their own products (note no patent infreingement) to meet those needs. This actually cuts down on R&D to a certain extent as it ensures that only products with a sufficient market are developed.
But eyetoy=Natal is a stretch!

Not exactly Aus but still a little bit on the skippy side of authentic V8Super. Don’t know if these will be in the game. But they have been used for V8SC rounds in the past (and future)
