In my day, we knew him as Jason. Of course, that was in the U.S., watching Battle of the Planets. But in Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, he is Joe the Condor, and he’s Tatsunoko’s last entrant. But who is Capcom’s?
From the Mega Man continuity, it’s Zero – from Mega Man X, or Rockman X since we’re deferring to the Japanese titling here. Zero’s official announcement for the North American localisation of Tatsunoko vs. Capcom confirms a rumour about a month old. IGN got the exclusive reveal earlier today, and has video of both characters in action.

Im sure it was called “Eagle Riders” in Australia in the 80s- IMDb doesnt agree but this was up there with Transformers Astroboy and Voltron for me.
