Is Rockstar Teasing Next GTA Location?

12:00PM October 29, 2009 | Owen Good

GTA4.Net noticed this “ad” in the Episodes from Liberty City instruction manual that, reading between the lines (or around the torn out part, anyway) seems to tease where the series is headed next. And maybe when.

The ad, apparently for a fake movie, declares “Liberty City, It’s Over!” implying, naturally, that we’re all done here. “Next stop,” it says, and that portion appears to be torn out, except for the word “Seagull”. I think it looks like the name of a hotel, but who knows.

To the left of that is “Opens March Everywhere”, and your guess is as good as mine as to what that means. But Rockstar knows what it’s doing here, it’s getting people to talk, and we’ve taken the bait.

(A picture of the entire “ad” is at the link below.)

East Coast of Australia. Melbourne vs. Sydney crime syndicates! Rural area with beautiful landsape in between! Awesome unique game setting. In the 1970′s! With classic kingswoods and falcons, beetles and kombi’s, and countless references to famous ozploitation cinema! Oh god make it so!

    Probably VC though…

They’d just use Unreal Engine 3 in that case wouldn’t they?? UE3 does brown really well!

      Grand Theft Auto: Down Underbelly.
Complete with naked Kiwi drug barons painting on their verandah.

Through my warped mind they look like trees on a snowy hill/alps – my guess is on something europe-based?

It’d be cool if it was a new location but that’d surely require a new game rather than a new addon and it seems a bit soon to release GTA5

Then again, wasn’t the 360 exclusivity for the addons only supposed to be for a limited period? Maybe this tease is not so much a goodbye to liberty city as it is a goodbye to platform exclusivity

I do rather like one of the logos on the poster “Theatre: Warning, this is not a movie”. Several theatre references on the poster, wonder if that’s some sort of clue

No not timed exclusivity. Absolute exclusivity. Microsoft actually funded the creation of both chapters of LC Stories. (GTA4 addons)

It’s being kept solely MS’s property.

And don’t anyone say FO3 was supposedly exclusive, they never declared it wouldn’t come to ps3, just that it was 360 and pc bound first.

    GTA Canada?
bear costumes? Mounties? Canasians? (is that what they are called?)
maple syrup references for “Sticky” situations?
Angry “southerners” ie. the US and A
    soo much potential.

SA is wicked. The only reason why i would want a SA remkae is a newer engine and graphics. Its GREAT other than that.

VC would be good – but i wouldn’t want them to take the Lib City approach and change it completely. I think just making the the two (3) islands larger and fitting more within them, rather than redesigning the islands all together.

I still don’t understand WHY Rockstar did what they did with GTA IV and re-do Lib City, they could have just given it a different name cause now its all messed up. BUT the next won’t be GTA V it will probably follow suit and be a GTA: Name of City before they do a GTA V – which then again they are all the same.

This looks suspiciously like a parody of the poster for the portmanteau movie ‘New York, I Love You’. There are similarities in the love heart with a cityscape above, and the picture collage in the heart. Of course in the GTA universe, rather than a movie about love, there is a movie about breaking up. As for the torn off section? Beats me…
