U2 hasn’t lent their likeness to games, and from what bassist Adam Clayton tells USA Today, it sounds like the group has turned down offers. Here’s Clayton on the odds of U2 in a music game:
We definitely would like to be in there, but we felt some of the compromises weren’t what we wanted. That could change. I love the idea that that’s where people are getting music, and we’d love to be in that world. We’ll figure something out. What The Beatles have done, where the animation is much more representative of them, is what we’re interested in, rather than the one-size-fits-all animation. We didn’t want to be caricatured.
And they probably don’t want to be marionettes like that poor sod Kurt Cobain. But U2: Rock Band? That they might be interested in.

Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 1:43 PMI second that. I mean it was The Beatles. It made sense. Just like if they made an Elvis one or heck, even a Michael Jackson (not because of his death but its cause its MJ).
But this is U2. No one likes U2 anymore except for Ireland and some people in the UK. I mean i’m pretty sure they released an album a few months back – but you wouldn’t have known. Didn’t hear ONE song from it and only knew of the album because i saw it on a music site about the record being finished.
They are overrated old junk these days. No one wants to play your boring songs U2. You.are.not.cool.

Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 10:51 AMYeah. Heaven forbid a band with a sizable fan base be interested in making money.
It used to be about the music maaaaaan.
No. It was was never about the music.
The musics good and all but they wouldn’t do it if there weren’t a big fat paycheck involved.
And right now there are big, fat paychecks to be had in the music games department.
Can’t blame them for wanting in on it and I’d wager any of you in their position would do the same thing.
I personally hate U2 but you can’t blame them for wanting a piece of the pie.

Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 12:11 PMThe problem would be fitting Bono’s head on-screen…even with a 108cm TV it’d be tough.

Thursday, October 8, 2009 at 12:18 PMIf they want to make a good game it will be Rock Band U2.
If they want to sell some copies too, it will be Guitar Hero: U2.

Friday, October 9, 2009 at 12:01 PMHmm.. I like U2 but their last album wasn’t very good. Plus given it’s U2 there is going to be some charity crap related to it, i wish Bono would just sing.
