Sony Adding PSP-only Digital Copies To Blu-ray Discs

7:40AM October 1, 2009 | Michael McWhertor

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment will be introducing digital copies of movies on upcoming Blu-ray releases that are exclusively offered for use on the PSP. That should make the process of adding portable copies a bit easier for PlayStation family owners.

According to a report from Blu-ray.com, the first Blu-ray releases to feature said PSP copies of the films will arrive with Matthew Broderick vehicle Godzilla and sassy, sexy screwball comedy The Ugly Truth, both due November 10 in North America. And to get said PSP copies, you’re going to need a PlayStation 3 to transfer them.

Looks like digital copies for the PC will still be happening on some Blu-ray releases, with the PSP option looking more like a matter of convenience.

So I can get an exclusive on a outdated monster terrorising modern America, or an exclusive on Godzilla.

Great. A bonus copy of Godzilla. I need that like I need an infected scrotum.

This is old news. A few Blu-rays already have the PSP version. Though its not always written on the box.
