Surprise Activision Dinosaur Game Coming In November

Activision has announced a November release date for Jurassic: The Hunted. If you just asked yourself, “What the hell is Jurassic: The Hunted?” rest assured I’m right there with you.

This is the first I’ve heard of Jurassic: The Hunted, Activision’s budget dinosaur hunting game, outside of a brief mention as “Jurassic Hunter” in Nintendo’s holiday lineup listing. Players take on the role of survival and weapons expert Craig Dylan, pulled back in time through the Bermuda Triangle to find himself face-to-face with the deadliest predators the world has ever seen.

“Get ready to be the hunted,” said David Oxford, Activision Publishing. “In Jurassic: The Hunted players will experience nonstop, vicious dinosaur attacks coming from all directions — and these are massive beasts that don’t go down with a single rifle shot.”

The game will feature arena style fights, sieges, survival modes and suitably large boss fights with an adrenalin mechanic that allows the player to target the enemy’s weak spots in slow motion.

And that’s all we’ve got. Jurassic: The Hunted comes out November 3 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii, priced to potentially move at $US39.99, with a PlayStation 2 version also on sale for $US10 cheaper.

So, who’s up for blindly buying a title not many people have heard of? Anyone?

I think it looks hella horrible myself. The first two, of the TRex and Raptor look half ok, but then the rest(especially the Triceratops) are damn awful.

Looks like a cheap dino rip off of L4D to me.

Sigh.. when will they stop TALKING about Dino hunting games, ala this and Turok and give us a badass game ABOUT being a dude who does just that.

HOW do they keep screwing this up?

They already have that game. Its called “Carnivores” and it came out years ago. It held up really well around the time the second Turok came out, although by now the AI may seem a bit basic. One of my most memorable gaming moments was tracking a velociraptor at night…

Oh yeah, this’ll be the sleeper hit of Christmas.
    Just you wait and see.

Good move on releasing it 7 days ahead of Modern Warfare 2. They’re totally gonna steal their thunder.

    /sarcasm.
