Can you guess this old game from just one screenshot?
I’ll update this post with the answer at 5pm today if no one has guessed before then. Or if you do guess it before then, feel free to share your memories of a classic game.
Looks like Abuse for the PC. It got a pretty bad wrap for a game I thought was a pretty decent game. I’m pretty sure it has been released as freeware too! :)
I was quite aggrieved when a cretinous misguided colleague at PC PowerPlay reviewed it so poorly back in the day. He gave it 25% or something similarly absurd, essentially because he didn’t understand why it wasn’t a first-person shooter.
Ah, Abuse. Had it on my PC at home, but i think we even had it running on the Mac’s in high school, if i recall correctly (those years are a little hazy now).
I thought it reminded me a lot of Abuse, but the graphics looked like something from the Megadrive. Awesome little title, especially with the editing tools provided with it to make your own stuff with.
Is this the PC version or the Mac one, incidentally? I remember playing it on the Mac. Fantastic game. It always seemed like an evolution of the old Mac game Dark Castle to me.
I remember when this was freeware off crack.com (back when developers Crack Dot Com still owned the obviously high demand URL.) I must have poured dozens of hours into this baby. One of my favorite platformers of all time.

Monday, November 23, 2009 at 11:27 AMAbuse was one of the best pc games of all time IMO. Turn down the ingame lights and it makes for a hell of an experience. XBLA should sell it.
