You can tell Christmas is looming. Not, however, from the sheer quantity of games being released this week.
But rather the quality. Or at least the audience they’re targeting. Outside of Dragon Age: Origins, Tekken 6 and maybe a couple of others, everything else out this week is not aimed at the traditional hardcore gamer.
There are games about cheerleading, singing, reading mystery novels, shopping for clothes and doing your makeup. There’s even one that lets you play Connect 4. Seriously!
What are you picking up this week?
New releases for the w/c November 2:
All-Star Cheerleader 2 (Wii)
What Is It? First there was one All-Star Cheerleader. Now there’s two of them.
Should You Care? No.
Barbie and the Three Musketeers (Wii, DS)
What Is It? First there was Barbie and one musketeer. Now she’s with three of them,
Should You Care? No.
Buzz! Quiz World (PS3, PSP)
What Is It? First there was Buzz! Quiz. Now there’s a world of it.
Should You Care? Maybe.
Cricket (Wii)
What Is It? Ashes Cricket 2009 for Wii gets rebranded, but it’s the same game.
Should You Care? Waggle makes it more accessible but not as good as the 360 and PS3 versions.
DJ Hero Renegade Edition (360, PS3)
What Is It? The stable table edition of Activision’s latest rhythm game.
Should You Care? Just get the regular edition.
Dragon Age: Origins (360, PC)
What Is It? Bioware return to their Baldur’s Gate roots to revive the classic fantasy RPG.
Should You Care? Sorry, PS3 owners, you must wait two more weeks.
Fairytale Fights (360, PS3)
What Is It? Curious mix of cutesy characters and brutal, bloody violence delayed from last week.
Should You Care? Nice concept, shame about the dull execution.
FIFA Manager 10 (PC)
What Is It? First there was a FIFA Manager. Now there’s ten of them.
Should You Care? No.
Girl’s Life: Fashion Addict (DS)
What Is It? Features Shoplifting and Wearing No Panties mini-games.
Should You Care? That was a lie.
Girl’s Life: Makeover (DS)
What Is It? Comes with cosmetic surgery discount coupon.
Should You Care? Sorry, another lie.
Hasbro Family Game Night Vol. 2 (Wii)
What Is It? Compilation of Operation, Jenga, Bop-It, Pictureka! and Connect 4.
Should You Care? Holy shit! Connect 4!
Rabbids Go Home (Wii, DS)
What Is It? Self-styled “comedy adventure” (read: silly platformer) sustained by juvenile humour and utter nonsense.
Should You Care? Do you laugh when someone farts?
Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time (PS3)
What Is It? It really is nothing more, nothing less than another Ratchet & Clank game.
Should You Care? But sometimes it’s good to feel reassured.
SingStar Take That (PS3, PS2)
What Is It? Features all your fave girl-group hits, like “Step By Step” and “Backstreet’s Back”.
Should You Care? Or something like that.
Stoked (360)
What Is It? Just in time for summer… a snowboarding sim!
Should You Care? Apparently it’s not too bad, more Amped than SSX if you know what that means.
Tekken 6 (360, PS3)
What Is It? First there was Tekken. Now there’s six of it.
Should You Care? You know what this is. Fighting game, sheep, kangaroos, etc.
World Of Zoo (Wii, DS, PC)
What Is It? Animal sim from the creators of Zoo Tycoon.
Should You Care? Haven’t played it but one has to assume they know how to make a decent zoo game.
Women’s Murder Club: Games Of Passion (DS)
What Is It? “Beautiful women go missing and turn up dead around every corner” apparently.
Should You Care? If they’re around every corner, they’re hardly missing, are they?

Huh. Game were apparently claiming it had been pushed back on all consoles.
Ah well, i haver my collectors edition at EB (well, two, since I couldn’t decide between getting it on PC or 360 until recently) so if it’s on track, I know where my time is going.

Highly anticipating Dragon Age although I am a little bit concerned about the amount of hours I will sink into it.

“Ratchet & Clank: A Crack In Time (PS3)
What Is It? It really is nothing more, nothing less than another Ratchet & Clank game.”
That is getting 8′s and 9′s all over the place. Lol.
Report PermalinkBut who are they kidding launching games this week, next week and the week after. Only one game is going to matter. And im buying Ratchet and Assassins Creed.

Wasn’t Biowares big announcement recently that the PS3 version would release at the same time?

I think that was just in the US. PAL regions – AU included – are still delayed.

Read through both Dragon Age novels. Pre-ordered the CE from EB. However I’m right into Borderlands atm, so DA:O might have to sit on the backnburner.

Hmm I normally have disagreements with these posts. Ratchet & Clank is a great series, and the latest isn’t just another – there’s a lot of completely different gameplay styles in this one, including the whole time shift stuff.
Buzz! Quiz TV was the first one on PS3, not just Buzz! Quiz. Buzz! Quiz World looks quite good, more questions and a lot more customisable than the last. A great party game.
Half the answers to “Should you care?” don’t even relate to that question.
It just seems like these posts of “This Week in Games” rarely have much thought or effort put into them. Nobody reading this post really gains anything out of the content apart from knowing a game is coming out – which they’ll then go to another site to find out more or just forget and ignore.
