This week’s Nintendo downloads are a bit of a mixed bag, made all the more painful too by the lack of Excitebite World Rally, which was classified yesterday. Nevertheless, here is what is available.
WiiWare is a little sparse this week after last week’s deluge, but you can download Happy Holidays: Christmas and spread that holiday cheer to make up for it. Like its Halloween cousin, it allows you to, wait for it, send Christmas themed messages to other peoples Wii Message Boards. It’s a bit of a waste, though, as they’ll need the program as well to read the entire card. Also available for 500 Points is the aptly named Mahjong. We’ve got no idea about how good it is, but if you enjoy Mahjong you can’t go wrong.
DSiWare gets Foto Face: The Face Stealer Strikes from EA (800 Points). The game allows you to put your face on the game’s protagonist as well as record your own voice for various actions in the game. It’s a platformer and puzzle game mixed together and the reception in the US suggests it might be good for a laugh. Also out this week is the second iteration of myNotebook from Aussie developers Nnooo. It’s the same app that was released a few weeks back, but just red in colour. Finally, from Nintendo is Master of Illusion Express: Matchmaker, another piece of the broken up collection of games from the Master of Illusion DS card. For 200 points you get two magic tricks to perform using the DSi.
Aussies this week miss out on Just SING! Christmas Songs (DsiWare), which would have allowed you to belt out Jingle Bells or Silent Night into your DSi’s microphone. A Shame.
Finally, probably the best of the bunch for the Virtual Console is Earthworm Jim 2. This is the Megadrive version. Some classic platforming action will set you back 800 points.
