Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (PC)

An outlandish story. Lots of shooting. Lots of explosions. What is war good for? And another question: Is the ‘game of the decade’ any good?

Loved

Soap On A Rope: The campaign is a thrillride, a plot twist here, another one there. Excellent voice acting and plenty of details makes the campaign a good ride… while it lasts. Intel pulls you back again, but no bonus is a little saddening.

63 Stars…Alone: The Spec Ops mode, when you’re alone, is actually quite fun, with a good few challenges here and there in order to keep you playing. Going through All Ghillied Up again was fun by myself.

Multiplayer…Sometimes: When the multiplayer didn’t lag or disconnect me for apparently no reason, it was ‘fun’ – seemed balanced enough, even though I lost nearly every game I played.

Hated

Let’s Nuke Washington! While CoD4’s story was actually possible, CoD:MW2 throws it out the window, replacing reality with a nuke here and a Russian invasion of Washington there. One of the main things I liked about CoD4 was it could ACTUALLY HAPPEN.

SpecOp CoOp: My one and only co-op experience with Spec Ops with a companion alongside me ended with me ending the game 30 seconds in with a framerate lower than 5 fps. You will need a good connection in order to play Co-Op.

Multiplayer…Rest Of The Time: When I wasn’t getting a good game out of the multiplayer, I was being dropped out of the games, extreme lag issues and with the lack of dedicated servers or a location filter, I’m not too happy with the experience.

Game of the Decade? Hardly. Game of the Year? Possible. Fix the laggy Multiplayer experience, and I’ll consider this again. Otherwise, it’s just another day, another war game.
