Bungie’s mobilising the Halo community to join the Haiti recovery effort. On Wednesday, the studio encourages players to wear a special emblem supporting Haiti relief and pledges to donate up to $US77,000 depending on how many participate.
For every 1,000 players who don the emblem on Wednesday or Thursday next week, in either Halo 3 or Halo 3:ODST, Bungie will donate $US100 to the Red Cross’ relief efforts for Haiti. Essentially, they’re betting they can get 770,000 players to make the gesture in a two day span. I’d say that’s likely.
That’s one aspect of their philanthropy. The other is a special edition of the Superintendent “Be a Hero” T-shirt. Bungie says 100 percent of the shirt’s $US19.99 price will also go to Haiti’s recovery through the American Red Cross.
Instructions on how to fit yourself with the Haiti recovery emblem in Halo 3 or ODST are at the link. The event will run from 12:01 a.m. PST Wednesday to 11:59 p.m. PST Thursday.
