New Starcraft II Screens, With That Beta-Fresh Smell

Earlier today, I became one of the first people in the world to fire up Starcraft II’s beta. And while it’s too soon to share my impressions of the game with you, it’s not too early to share some screenshots.

I’ve tried to get a nice balance of races and terrain here, to give you an idea of how the game looks running normally, on a normal person’s computer, as it will when you get playing (whenever that may be).

While they show the kind of detil that’s gone into the units and terrain, it doesn’t do a lot of it justice; the space levels, for instance, show asteroids and planets constantly in motion, while there’s nice water and plant effects on the planetary stages.

    Im really surprised how low the system requirements are for this game. See how it turns out, most people so far in the beta seem very impressed with it.

      Thats probably the good thing about most Bliz games.. they’re great with squeezing out the juice out of older systems =D

    Working at Blizzard must be a blast considering it has taken them about 10yrs to produce this. Seems to me they just sit in their offices and do nothing all day.

      I know this guy who does work there and I have to admit he tells me of many very unproductive days where they just play SC2… Or D3 all day. You gotta think, they play their own games all the time so you’d expect a pretty polish game when they do some work.
