Rock Band 3 Revolutionises The Music Genre This Christmas

6:30AM March 10, 2010 | Mike Fahey

Viacom President and CEO Philippe Dauman officially outed Rock Band 3, due for release this Chrismas, when it will “will innovate and revolutionise the music genre” all over again.

Dauman revealed the game while speaking at the Credit Suisse Group Global Media and Communications Conference this morning, quickly followed by tweets from several members of the Harmonix staff, relieved to finally be able to discuss what they’ve been working on, as well as this new entry on the Rock Band Facebook page:

Harmonix is developing Rock Band 3 for worldwide release this holiday season! The game, which will be published by MTV Games and distributed by Electronic Arts, will innovate and revolutionize the music genre once again, just as Harmonix did with the original Rock Band, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles: Rock Band. Stay tuned for more details!

How could Rock Band 3 possibly revolutionise the music genre any further? Will there be harmonies? Will it accept your own MP3s, converting them on the fly? Look for the answers to these questions and more whenever Harmonix feels it’s a good time to give them to us.

And no, that’s not the official logo.

Simeon picked up the most important piece of info in this article, “Worldwide release”.

Can we dare to believe that?

    Can we?

Retards should learn to release on time. Where the hell is Rock Band 2?

I’d be inclined to say that Australia’s too-big-for-its-boots recording industry has more to do with the RB2 delay than anything.

I got sick of waiting so just bought off ebay.co.uk, and eagerly awaiting its arrival.

I think they were talking about before about learning actual instruments in game, may be that’s what they are talking about when they say revolutionise.

RB2 has been available for ages for Australians, just had to buy it from the UK :)

I love Rock Band so this is great news to me. RB1 lets you export the songs from the blu-ray to the hard-drive, so as long as we’ll be able to do that with RB2 too (I imported) then I’ll be happy.

It’s all about this… they would be stupid to not allow it, seeing as though it’s the best feature with Rock Band.

As long as RB, RB2, Lego, ACDC & Green Day and all the previous DLC works in RB3… then that’s 99% of my sale… (didn’t include the Beatles as I don’t expect you’ll ever be able too)

The final 1%… Worldwide Release… perhaps Australia can be given a bonus for being screwed over, buy Rock Band 3 and get Rock Band 2 for free! :D

“perhaps Australia can be given a bonus for being screwed over, buy Rock Band 3 and get Rock Band 2 for free! :D”

        That would be AWESOME!

Worldwide = Not Australia I’m sure.

I’ve got a feeling it will be a proper worldwide release. We got Rock Band: Beatles ‘on time’. I think there is no intention of ever releasing Rock Band 2 in Australia.

I think you’re right, but it’s so sad, because rock band 2 is so damn good! No GH compares, and it’s even better that beatles rock band (though not as pretty).

The “innovation” is probably it being released in Australia.

      Heh…so very true

But great news, I love rock band and music games in general (so much so I paused GH: Van Halen to type this message – don’t hate on me, I know it’s an average game at best, but I love Van Halen!)

I’ll be happy with a uk release at the same time as the USA. Importing is easy.

  • Goraxium

    March 10, 2010 at 7:39 PM

It wasn’t until Rock Band 2 was released in the US that we finally got Rock Band 1, so I’m sure it’ll be a world wide release, but only when Rock Band 4 comes out in the US. Or maybe they’re planning on dumping EA as the distributors this time around… Who knows… Let’s just hope they don’t screw us over this time around…

Can’t believe NZ got RB2 and Australia didn’t.
Even if it doesn’t come here, I will definitely be importing.
