Marvel Vs Capcom 3 Unveiling Soon?

Word of a new Marvel Vs Capcom game could be heading our way in the coming months if rumours from website Team Spooky can be believed.

And here’s why I think they can: The poster over on Team Spooky saying that Marvel Vs Capcom 3 is inbound is the same person who last year leaked the entire Super Street Fighter IV roster and got it right.

There’s also my interview with Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars producer Ryota Niitsuma from earlier this year.

In it, Niitsuma says that a we could be hearing about a new versus game from Capcom this year.

“I would love to do more versus series, more types of games like Marvel Vs Capcom 2,” Niitsuma said. “There are all of these possibilities working with other companies, seeing what we could do with them. There are so many game companies I’d love to work with.

“If sales are really good (for Tatsunoko vs Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars) then you can see an announcement within this year,” he said.

Also, there’s Capcom’s annual big news event happening next week in Hawaii. They’ve got to have something to knock our socks off with right?

Don’t worry, we’ll be there live to deliver all of the news, impressions and interviews live from the island state.

We need more games like these to make a comeback.

2D fighting games in HD with high quality sprites, glorious looking backgrounds, gameplay that can either be played as button mashingly simple or mindblowingly complex as you like (Guilty Gear, MVSC2, SF3… NOT SF4) there really is room in the market for fighting games to make a comeback these days. With the glut of FPS’s out there, this would surely make a lovely change.

I would love this… But perhaps not at home. I’ve found that Street Fighter games just don’t have enough appeal to not play them in an arcade, whereas Tekken adds loads of modes.

This would be awesome. I hope It’s more akin to SFIV than TVC though.

Trying to find a, actual copy of Marvel Vs Capcom 2 for PS2 is alone a fighting game in itself.

Still, its encouraging to think about the possible new additions both franchises can make?

I’d love to see Dante and Wesker hack it out against Marvel/Disney newcomers…

Please, the last thing we need is Disney characters in a Marvel fighting game. Wolverine laying his claws into Mickey ain’t gonna fly.

    Here’s hoping…

I guess the likelihood of this happening is largely dependant on whether or not Marvel’s deal with EA has expired…
