While we’ve been judges for oodles of other people’s best of E3 awards, we’ve never actually done our own. And there’s a reason for that: They’re really hard work. Just ask Geoff Keighley.
But we figured that it was probably a good idea for us to start. Take a moment, if you’d like, to check out our list of nominees for best of E3 this year and let us know what you think. We’ll be declaring the winners next week.
Also, we’d love to hear your take on our categories. It shouldn’t come as a surprise to those of you who are regular readers that we didn’t include a break down by genre.
Enjoy, debate, suggest.

Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 10:08 AMSo does The Force Unleashed 2′s trailer not count? That thing was better than the prequels.

Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 11:02 AMBest Gameplay Mechanic: Bulletstorm’s reverse bullet time, not because it’s particularly original or creative, but for the fact I don’t care for the rest which seem more ‘gimmicky’.
Best 360 Game: Halo Reach for sure. Played the beta and it seemed solid and the gameplay footage of the campaign looks encouraging.
Best Trailer: I have to go with something not on the lists and pick Child Of Eden, just a beautiful melding of music and gameplay, hopefully the kinect synergy gets better as it looked a bit ‘jarring’ in footage so far,
Best PC Game: Rage. No recycled textures, all ‘hand’ drawn, engaging gunplay. Sure it might seem like the child of borderlands and doom/fallout but having loved those games it doesn’t bother me.
Boldest Move: PSN Plus. Danger will robinson danger..

Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 11:56 AMHow come the Force Unleashed or Old Republic trailers didn’t make it. These things looked better than the movies they were based on.

Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 4:38 PMI’m not really that excited about any games from this year’s E3. All the games I was looking forward to got only a tiny showing at E3, so I’ll have to wait till later to read and see more on them. The show did get me excited about Brink and Homefront.
Anyone else think Homefront looks a whole lot like Metro 2033? THQ must have seriously decided the look and feel of both games by pulling a torn piece of paper out of a hat.

Thursday, June 24, 2010 at 7:29 PMI haven’t read all the comments yet but here’s my version of the list
Best New Game: Epic Mickey
Special Mention for Rage
Best Character Design: Kirby’s Epic Yarn
Special Mention for Rage and MvC3
Best Gameplay Mechanic: N/A
Unsure until I’ve played with em.
Best Motion Game: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
It’s the one I know is actually a game and not posing.
Best Trailer: N/A
Only seen Nintendo and Assassins Creed, can’t be bothered watching the rest.
Boldest Move: Sony’s Playstation Plus
Nobody I know of, or seen on a forum seem to want to pay for the service. MS force you to pay for Online multiplayer, Sony are asking and offering some things but most people are passing.
Best Setting: Epic Mickey
Special Mention for Kirby and X-Com
Best PC Game: Civ 5
Lot of good stuff there but it’s a Civ game.
Best DS Game: Golden Sun
Special Mention for Super Scribblenauts and Okamiden
Best PS3 Game: Twisted Metal
Special Mention for LBP2, everything else is kind of available elsewhere and no mention of Killzone 3?
Best PSP Game: Kingdom Hearts
I admit don’t know much about the rest.
Best Wii Game: The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
Special Mention for Kirby’s Epic Yarn, Epic Mickey and Lost in Shadow, I will eventually buy them all.
Best XBox 360 Game: Halo: Reach
Special Mention to both Fable III and Gears 3, I’ll probaly get Rage on 360 too. My PC is getting on in years.
