Dragon’s Lair property owner Digital Leisure continues to try and milk as much money from the franchise as humanly possibly with Destineer’s Dragon’s Lair Trilogy for the Nintendo Wii, available this fall for $US29.99. It collects all three Don Bluth-animated laserdisc games, presented in both stardard and widescreen format for your viewing pleasure.
And viewing pleasure is really what it’s all about. Since these games were really just a series of quick time events, there’s a pretty clear way to make it through each one, and when you’re done, you’re done. If you just wanted to see the games from start to finish, YouTube has all three readily available.
I make fun of the Trilogy’s Watch Mode, which lets the story play without user input, but it’s probably one of the most attractive features of the release. Just turn on Watch Mode and appreciate Don Bluth’s award-winning animation without having to worry about following the flashing cues.
