Hunt Some Cheeky Prawns With This District 9 Rifle

It’s Comic-Con, so allow me to indulge in some toy coverage. Well, not that this is a toy. It’s more like a full-size replica of the alien assault rifle from District 9.

Sculpted by special effects house WETA, the team behind Lord of the Rings and, uh, District 9, the rifle made its public debut at Comic-Con earlier tonight. And it’s amazing.

It’s made from glass fibre and plastic tubing, weighs 5.4kg and is 40 inches long. According to WETA, it’s an “EXACT” replica of the weapons used in the film, with the toys modelled on the “actual props”.

Of course, it’s not cheap. At $US499, it’s not cheap at all.
