Albion’s Adventures Continue In Fable: The Balverine Order

It’s a book! For Fable diehards with a thirst for some off-game fiction – courtesy of prolific writer Peter David – there’s Fable: The Balverine Order. It’s the rare paperback that lets players unlock a unique item in a video game.

Coming this October from Ace Publishing, Fable: The Balverine Order does more than just spin a fantastical yarn. It also includes a “code to unlock [a]unique weapon in Fable III” that will illustrate to Albion’s residents just how well-read you are.

Here’s the synopsis, courtesy of Amazon.com:

The days of magic and adventure are fading away, giving way to the age of industry and science. As the aged last Hero sits upon the throne of Albion, two friends-the privileged Thomas and his loyal servant, John- set out for the East in search of a legendary beast: the vicious, rarely-seen balverine. But their desire for adventure may be their ultimate undoing-because their quarry has just found them…

The book’s author, Peter David, is perhaps best known for his extensive comic book work on The Incredible Hulk and numerous Star Trek novels. Video game fans may know him more for his Halo comics and his involvement in the upcoming Epic Mickey graphic novel.

Fable: The Balverine Order is slated to ship October 5, 2010.

Good thing or bad thing? I’m genuinely asking, as haha… I have not heard of him :p

I really like the idea of a Fable book, I think I definitely will check it out.

Have a close look at the two heroes on the cover of the paperback. Notice a resemblance to anyone in particular? :)

Yes, I saw this mentioned on Twitter, and I have to admit it’s uncanny.
