Rob Pardo, executive VP of game design at Blizzard, tells MTV Multiplayer that it’s still seeking “the right partners” for projects beyond its WoW movie plans. But if the director a few billion dollar grossing movies were to come along…
“…It’s really important to us that we find creative people that are really talented but also really excited about our properties,” Pardo says. “I think if Jim Cameron came to us tomorrow and said, ‘You want to make a ‘StarCraft’ movie?’ we’d probably sign that.” They probably really loved his work on Aquaman.
Cameron already has a full plate of projects post-Avatar. He’s been working on a Battle Angel Alita adaptation forever, possibly more Avatar films and various other directorial projects. Of course, Blizzard still has two more StarCraft II expansions to pop out. While not much more than a hypothetical dream team name drop, everyone involved is pretty busy.
I’m sure our grandkids are gonna love it.
Blizzard Would Do A ‘StarCraft’ Movie If James Cameron Is Interested [MTV Multiplayer]

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 12:52 PMShut up, Blizzard. Cameron is going to be busy making At The Mountains of Madness with Guillermo Del Toro. You, and anybody else thinking of proposing a film that might possibly impact on ATMoM going ahead, can **** off until about 2013 at the earliest :P

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 11:57 PMForgive Brady for thinking a game with a price tag over $100 is a complete game. Clearly he isn’t on the Blizzard Kool-Aid drip like you two.
Ditto on Brady’ comment. This is like John Howard saying he would agree to a biographical movie if he was played by George Clooney. Dellusional and clearly punching above his weight. Blizzard needs a reality check, James Cameron is much more talented than anyone working at Blizzard and the projects he works on are of much greater value and substance than StarCraft.
Side Note: Maybe Blizzard should focus on getting their already overdue WoW movie rolling before they look at new projects. At this rate the game is going to die and the fanbase will move on before the script is finalised.

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 9:19 AMThe game literally ends with the gruff hard bitten spehs mehrin carrying his long lost love out into the sunset, i highly highly doubt blizzards quality of writing is going to improve in any way in the next 2 games.

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 2:05 PMThe film would be about a young Terran who spends time with a tribe of Protoss in an artificialy-made body.

Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 5:46 PMIt would be a gamble considering the recent mess(?) Avatar was – which was just some old stories in a new (3D) package.
Only if it was written by some high calibre screenplay or film writer. The only one that comes to mind at the moment is J.J.Abrams…

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 12:01 AMThey should get the guy who wrote the Legend of Chun-Li. His abilities are what a StarCraft movie deserves. It would get him off of Shadow of the Colossus freeing up that project for someone with an ounce of talent to attempt to adapt that masterpiece.

Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:40 PMWell… I say why not?
But the one condition that MUST be satisfied is that its all rendered and animated. If an animated starcraft movie came out, I’d go watch it for sure.
Obviously if they used real actors, the story will be focused on some rookie terran or something. BORINGGGG.
Fully animated only please, and you have yourself our support.
