Hollywood rumour mill ShowbizSpy says sources indicate movie star Brad Pitt is first in line to play John Marston in a big screen adaptation of Rockstar’s Red Dead Redemption.
How could any one movie capture the scope and grandeur of Red Dead Redemption? Getting Brad Pitt to star in it could be a good first step. According to ShowbizSpy’s sources, the man who sees Angelina Jolie naked on a regular basis is being given first refusal for the role of lead character John Marston in the big-screen adaptation.
“This is an exciting project with a great character at the centre of it,” a source said. “The idea is to make this in the style of an epic Western movie but with a few modern touches.”
Of course putting one’s trust in Hollywood sources is generally not a good idea. Our friends at Rockstar Games tell us that this rumour is just that: A rumour.

Have you seen inglorious bastards. It cuts into the Nazi’s forehead with a huge combat knife so that they never forget what they were.
If that isn’t bad-ass enough for you then you have serious issues. Not to mention the rest of the movie is very brutal.

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 12:24 PMHave you heard of this little movie called Fight Club?

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 2:02 PMThe first rule of Fight Club is, you do not talk about Fight Club.
But anyway…
Brad Pitt is a bit of a fluke with his roles. Hilarious in Inglourious Basterds, but then he can just drown in other movies.
Jesse James is quite a good film. He is talented, but sometimes overrated. I don’t know if he would suit the role, but hey, the movie IF made won’t turn out as magnificent as the game.
He is however, much more talented than Angelina. It’s her looks that get her places, I mean her Oscar win was PURE luck.

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 8:51 AMVoice aside I think after Jesse James and his general acting skills he would be a excellent choice!

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 9:26 AMTimothy Olyphant would crap all over Brad Pitt in this role.

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:37 AMWhile I have to say that I think making a film of Red Dead Redemption is a TERRIBLE idea, I do agree with you that I think Timothy Olyphant would be great in the role of Marston. I always thought that Deadwood was a big inspiration for RDR, and while appearances wise Martson and Olyphants Deadwood character Bullock could harly compare, character wise I thought they were quite similar – both essentially good men (depends on how you played the game of course) with a temper, and questionable ethics.
Of course I could want this simply because I miss Deadwood so much…

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:01 AMSounds good, but he’d better do World War Z first or I’ll be unhappy.

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 10:41 AMBrad Pitt is a great actor, but i think Josh Brolin would be good too. He was great in No Country for Old Men.

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11:41 AMI would have put Bill Paxton in the role, throughout all the trailers I though he was voicing John Marston.

Friday, August 27, 2010 at 1:22 PMOf all the great story and character-driven games out there, they pick a game that is well… well, not great, story-driven or contain a “great character”.

Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 4:44 AMMan, more people really need to see “The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford.” Sure the title is long and the movie is a little slow but it’s a damn good movie and tragically underrated.
