Yup!
1) Player witnesses a crime, has to solve the mystery; and
2) Must be a Mid-90s PC game; and
3) Must be something that I haven’t played -

Last Express obviously but now I’m more intrigued by what the theme for this week’s games are.
Tres puzzling…

GTA as it was originally intended: a point and click adventure.
I kid, I kid, The Last Express(an adventure game based on ‘Murder on the Orient Express) or something..

As everyone has said – The Last Express, the only one of these I’ve recognised straight away.
Contrary to popular belief, it is not based on the Agatha Christie novel “Murder on the Orient Express” in any way, and is actually an original story written by the developer that takes place on the last journey of the Orient Express on the eve of World War II. Following this, the train was derailed/in disuse for perhaps a decade, after which is temporarily came back, but as I remember it was seen as an opulent and useless facet of the past, which was quite inappropriate as it travelled through war-torn Europe.
It didn’t come back into proper rotation until the mid-late 70s, as I remember.
Similarly, the game went out-of-print within a few years of its release, and is kinda expensive. But excellent.

Could the theme here be games centered around modes of transport? GTA – cars, this (obviously) trains …
Just guessing
