Seems Google’s Designers Played A Lot Of Gauntlet

Google’s Android platform has a cute little robot logo, but what’s this? The inspiration behind it is not, as I first thought, Metal Mickey, but is actually a Gauntlet game?

Oh, this is too good.

Take a look at the video, below, for Gauntlet: The Third Encounter. It’s not just the appearance that’s similar, it’s even got the name “Android”. You can see a comparison with Google Android’s logo in the pic above.

Before you lambast Google for “copying” the design, know that good artists copy, great artists steal from old Gauntlet games.
